Data retrieved from airborne Laser scanning represents a new source of forest data. Today, the technology has matured so that it can function in an operational environment. The aim of this study was to compile areas of application of Laserdata in forestry. Moreover to analyze costs and accessibility of Laserdata. The goal was to provide private forest owners information to support assessments of possible benefits of Laserdata.

En jämförelse mellan TLS och UAV-fotogrammetri : Inmätning av hårdgjorda ytor

At present day there are several different methods for measuring of paved surfaces.The most common methods today are measuring with a total station, the GlobalNavigation Satellite System (GNSS) and terrestrial Laser scanning (TLS). Recently thedevelopment of unmanned aerial vehicles, known as drones, has increasedexponentially and today there are several ways of using drones for measuring surfacesby photographing and Laser scanning.This thesis contains a comparison between the methods terrestrial Laser scanning(TLS), and unmanned aerial vehicle photogrammetry (UAV). The measurements havebeen applied on two different test surfaces, one of asphalt and one of gravel. Thepurpose of the comparison is to investigate whether the airborne photogrammetry isequivalent accurate in its height levels as the terrestrial Laser scanning. For thecomparison to be more extensive, these two methods have not only been comparedin precision but also in the areas of ease of use and economy.The precision was analyzed by comparing the height levels in randomly placed controlpoints on the test surfaces.

Behovet att mäta kvalitet hos olika produkter ledde till framställningen av ett antal mätningsmetoder. Redan vid olika stadier av tillverkning kan man avgöra om produkten motsvarar en viss förutbestämd standard. Den här rapporten kommer att undersöka vilka eventuella problem mätning av kvalitet med Laser har i industrimiljö. En konceptuell modell över hur mätning av dornprofiler kan genomföras kommer att presenteras med fokus på att väga tidsåtgång mot exakthet för att skapa en balans som är acceptabel för företagets krav. En beslutsfattande algoritm kommer även att presenteras där ett avgörande ska ske om mätresultaten är rimliga eller beror på fel i mätutrustningen.

Laserexperiment för grundskola och gymnasium

This report discusses the development of lessons based on laborations for middle and high school.The purpose of the project was to research the possibility to affect students' attitude towards physicsthrough well-planned stimulating lessons. The lessons were based on the Light and Lasers OutreachKit, a teaching package made by the organisation Laser Classroom, and have been adapted for physicsin middle and high school. The lessons were developed on a pedagogical and didactical ground andwere improved with surveys and peer and self assessment. The lessons were based on Laser light and itsproperties. One lesson covered the topic of single-slit diffraction, while the other treated geometricaloptics.

Framkomlighetsanalys med hjälp av en digital terrängmodell och kartdata

Driveability analysis of terrain data offers an important technique for decision support for all kinds of movements in the terrain. The work described in this report uses a high resolution digital terrain model generated from the Laser radar data and further processed by the Category Viewer program, and information from the Real Estate Map. Properties of features found in a filtering process are calculated and compared with a set of rules in a knowledge base to get a driveability cost. This cost is then visualized in a graphical user interface. An evaluation of what driveability is and what it is affected by is performed, and a general cost function is developed, which can be used even if not all relevant information is available.

Volvo Construction Equipment AB Component Division (CMP) I Eskilstuna har idag det globala ansvaret för utveckling och tillverkning av drivlinor till anläggningsmaskiner. De nya kraven på nästa generations transmissioner har dock krav på sig att vara mindre och lättare samt ha mindre inre förluster än den föregående. För att kunna möta detta krav krävs det att kopplingsaxlarna i tranmissionerna blir mindre. För att leva upp till detta samt en förbättring hos kvalitén på förbanden så introduceras två nya fogningsmetoder enligt Laser- och lim/krympförband. I denna rapport klargörs flödet genom de två fogningscellerna.

Rehabiliteringsmetoder för häst och hund :

Today, many veterinary hospitals offer rehabilitation as a service. We think that this is an interesting subject and therefore we want to find out what rehabilitation methods that are available in Sweden for dogs and horses. We want to give animal nurses and other persons who have animals as an occupation an survey that shortly describes how the methods are performed, what physical effect they have in the body and to give examples in what conditions they are used. To find out what rehabilitation methods that are available we sent out two different questionnaires, one to hospitals/clinics for small animals and one to hospitals/clinics for horses and other companies that works with rehabilitation of horses. The information about the methods described in our project we have found in literature and on the Internet.

This reports purpose is to give a general view on how to handle information collectedthrough photogrammetry and Laser scanning with the help of UAS. The report ismade in collaboration with WSP Group and will briefly describe howphotogrammetry and Laser scanning, also known as Lidar, works and how those areused in the construction business today. Then the focus will be on how gathered datais handled today, how outsourcing of data should be approached and if there are anyconsequences if data is handled in the wrong way. Interviews have been made with allparts in the UAS business. That includes authorities as Transporstyrelsen,Försvarsmakten.

En litteraturstudie om refraktiv kirurgi med fördjupning inom LASIK (Laser In Situ Keratomileusis)

Syfte: Studiens syfte är att göra en kort redovisning av de vanligaste tekniker (LASIK, LASEK, PRK och RLE) som finns inom refraktiv kirurgi med en fördjupning inom LASIK (Laser in situ keratomileusis). Studiens syfte är att ta reda på hur LASIK operationen går till, vilka som är lämpade kandidater och vilka de vanligaste riskerna som finns.Bakgrund: Keratorefraktiv kirurgi har utvecklats enormt under de senaste årtionden. De initiala försöken att korrigera sfärocylindriska refraktiva fel med corneal kirurgi och första generationen excimer Laser kirurgi var effektiva för korrigering av lägre refraktiva fel. Utvecklingen av mer komplex Laserteknologi har gett mer noggranna och förutsägbara resultat. Detta har gjort att indikationer för den refraktiva kirurgin har expanderat.

Digitizing the Parthenon using 3D Scanning : Managing Huge Datasets

Digitizing objects and environments from real world has become an important part of creating realistic computer graphics. Through the use of structured lighting and Laser time-of-flight measurements the capturing of geometric models is now a common process. The result are visualizations where viewers gain new possibilities for both visual and intellectual experiences. This thesis presents the reconstruction of the Parthenon temple and its environment in Athens, Greece by using a 3D Laser-scanning technique. In order to reconstruct a realistic model using 3D scanning techniques there are various phases in which the acquired datasets have to be processed.

In time with HolmenSkog district Egenskog Norrköping´s decreasing mountain of cleaning, the office started to look around for new alternative cleaning strategies to lower the costs connected with cleaning. One option was to make the inventory strategy more effective and after a phonecall with the head of the district, Jonnie Friberg, the planning started to try inventory in pictures taken from a helicopter. The pictures was at last taken from a digtal camera and the vegetationheight was mesured with a Laser. The gear was supplied from Kallax Flyg AB, Luleå. In the trial 15 stands was selected depended on age and different mixtures between pine (Pinus sylvestris), spruce (Picea abies) and birch (Betula pubescense and Betula pendula).

Segmentering och klassificering av LiDAR-data

With numerous applications in both military and civilian life, the demand for accurate 3D models of real world environments increases rapidly. Using an airborne Laser scanner for the raw data acquisition and robust methods for data processing, the researchers at the Swedish Defence Research Agency (FOI) in Linköping hope to fully automate the modeling process.The work of this thesis has mainly been focused on three areas: ground estimation, image segmentation and classification. Procedures have in each of these areas been developed, leading to a new algorithm for ground estimation, a number of segmentation methods as well as a full comparison of various decision values for an object based classification. The ground estimation algorithm developed has yielded good results compared to the method based on active contours previously elaborated at FOI. The computational effort needed by the new method has been greatly reduced compared to the former, as performance, particularly in urban areas, has been improved.

Punktmolnshantering i anläggningsprojekt : Utvärdering av programvaror för framtagande av markmodell

An increased number of participants in the construction industry is asking for accompanying terrain models to the project in order to get a better understanding of the field. When the desire to create buildings that fit together nicely with the surrounding area is increasing, it becomes more and more important to have a broad base of knowledge about the ground on which the building is to be erected. Terrain models are also very useful in the planning of logistics, documentation for landscape architecture projects, and billings for mass calculations.Surveys for creating terrain models can be performed with Laser scanning. The advantage of Laser scanning is the time-effective surveying, the detailed information as well as the ability of application in complex environments resulting in a cost-efficient project. With this in mind our thesis was defined in collaboration with the company Bjerking AB in Uppsala in order to investigate if there were any softwares suitable for terrain modeling.
