Sweden of today is a so-called multicultural society. In this thesis we wanted to examine how mono, multi- and intercultural issues are expressed in culture-political documents. We also wanted to know how librarians for whom these documents are supposed to be guidelines expressed themselves in these matters. Monoculturalism can be described as a static perspective laid upon culture which emphasises cultural purity. A multicultural society describes a society were the nation consists of many different cultures alongside each other, without a genuinely common core.

The aim of this thesis is to study what impact the USA Patriot act has had on American libraries. The authors intent has been to see what changes have occurred in the librarians work-routines and to study their attitudes toward the Patriot act. The authors have also intended to find out what the consequences would be for the libraries. The findings are related to Swedish circumstances. The material used in this thesis consists of six interviews conducted at three libraries in the Bay Area in California.

The purpose of this thesis was to analyse if the six month rule in chapter 3 § 9 part 1 in IL is compatible with EU law regarding the free movement of employees and in case of discrimination whether the rule can be justified. First of all the retroactive salary for an unlimited taxpayer and during the period of income earning a limited taxpayer who later became unlimited taxpayer will be analyzed in order to determine if they are considered to be in a comparable situation. An unlimited taxpayer is subject to taxation in Sweden for all of his incomes regardless their origin. However there is an exception according to six month rule, which implies that physical persons who stay abroad due to their minimum six months employment are in Sweden free from their incomes earned abroad if they are taxed in the country of employment. Tax exemption is applicable even if the payment from an employee working abroad is made retroactively.Article 18 EUFF states a general prohibition of discrimination on the grounds of nationality.

Abortion remains a contentious issue, which greatly raises ethical problems. This thesis examines the leading arguments in the Swedish abortion debate around the ? in terms of legislation ? critical years of 1938 and 1974. With Foucault's genealogical method, Butler's theories of gender as a social construction in relation to power and doxa, the study examines what the development of the argumentation says about the views on morality, the woman's body, life, individual and state? How has the arguments pro and against abortion changed over time and what does this say about the norms that guide and orientate the arguments? The most obvious change in argumentation is seen in the shift from an absolute moral and conservative position into an increasingly relativistic and liberal position, and this study will argue that this shift has its prerequisites in the changing status of the citizen and state.

This report is the result of a project in the course Independent Projekt in Molecular Biotechnology at Uppsala University during the spring of 2014. The foremost purpose of the course is to give students the opportunity to carry through exstensive work in a project environment. This project was formed based on a comission from the biotechnology company SweTree Technologies, and the goal has been to compose a summary of the different techniques and methods that exist in the field of mass propagation of trees through the method of somatic embryogenesis.The project group has obtained information about the area mainly throgh reading patents, trying to find key components and bottlenecks in other companies? somatic embryogenesis technologies. This paper is divided into different sections, containing the patents of the automation of different steps in the process.

During the last years, producers and consumers have become increasingly aware of food safety. Foodborne illness and foodborne injury are in best case unpleasant but they can also be fatal. HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) is a preventative food safety system which is aimed to guarantee production of safe food free from pathogens, foreign materials and substances with potential to cause adverse health effect. In order to succeed in developing, installing, monitoring and verifying a HACCP system, there is a mix of hurdles for the company to overcome. While larger food companies meet a difficult challenge, small and medium size enterprises often feel that the hurdles are almost impossible to manage.

In Sweden there is an integration policy and a policy for national minorities. The integration policy aims to integrate newly arrived immigrants (nyanlända invandrare), whereas the minority policy aims to maintain and strengthen the rights of the national minorities. The national minorities are though, at times, included into the integration policy, even though they hold a minority status in Sweden. This paper aims to, through discourse analysis, investigate the research question: ?how is the content of integration referred to, when it is related to immigrants, contra when it is related to national minorities?.

In Eskilstuna and Sweden in general the level of reuse of surplus material containing soils and rocks from excavation is low. In this report the potential for increasing the reuse of excavated material in Eskilstuna by using a web-based earth information database has been examined. The purpose of a web-based earth information database is to connect those who have surplus material with those who need material for a fast and simple transaction. The intention is to give Eskilstuna a more environmentally and economically efficient handling of surplus material by increasing the level of reuse and thereby reducing the amount of surplus material that is wasted and emissions given off to the atmosphere during transportation. The potential has been examined in two different ways, by tracing information about a number of projects to see if excavated material driven to the dump could have been used in another project and by interviewing eight of the work leaders active in Eskilstuna.

The aim of this thesis is to contribute to a better understanding of the FRA-law. The focus of the study is to examine how Swedish politicians relate to the new draft of this law on intelligence. Key themes in the study are security, threats, surveillance and privacy. The power relationship between the individual and the state is also examined. Empirical data used in this study consists of a spoken plenary debate in the House which was held in connection with the adoption of the FRA law in June 2008.

I min uppsats vill jag undersöka vad det är som gör att man återvänder till arbetslivet. Jag har intervjuat fem kvinnor med diagnosen utbrändhet och de har alla varit långtidssjukskrivna, men har idag återvänt delvis eller helt. Dessa kvinnor är samtliga socialarbetare i 46-60 års ålder. Jag har även intervjuat medaktörer i kvinnornas sjukskrivningsprocess för att se hur de tänker och vad de kan göra för att påverka den sjukskrivna att återvända. Medaktörerna är arbetsgivaren och personalchefen från socialförvaltningen, samt försäkringskassan och företagshälsovården.

This thesis is performed as a case study, and has had the aim to study who has the power over cultural heritage, by studying the digitization selection criteria at KB and what influences there can be on the digitization selection process. The theory of the arm?s length principle, (Mangset, Kunst og makt, 2013) the professional model, (Rothstein, 2010), that digitization re-shape and re-contextualize cultural heritage material, (Dahlström et al. 2013), and different concepts will influence the digitization selection process has been used in this study. A qualitative research with document study and informant interview and e-mail interview has been conducted.

Undersökningen i detta arbete utfördes bland 69 anställda på ett företag som berörs av ett skiftformsbyte. Syftet var att undersöka hur de anställda upplever sin aktuella arbetssituation, hur de förhåller sig till det pågående förändringsarbetet samt hur de ser på sin framtida arbetssituation.Två olika metoder användes, en enkätundersökning samt djupintervjuer. Frågeformuläret besvarades av 69 personer och nio djupintervjuer utfördes.De anställda kände en trygghet i sin anställning och faktorer som lön, arbetskamrater, arbetsmiljö, relationer till ledning, upplevdes som positivt överlag. De negativa aspekterna fanns i en ökad arbetspress med minskade resurser och kontroll över arbetet. Förändringsarbetet gav positiva men till en stor del negativa reaktioner i form av motstånd, där bland annat känslor av oro och ovisshet manifesterades.

Denna studie har genomförts med hjälp av kvalitativa intervjuer med syftet att utföra en diskursanalys på hur deltagare och anställda talar om projektet Korta vägen i Uppsala.Korta vägen är ett arbetsmarknadspolitiskt projekt som syftar till att få ut utländska akademiker i arbetslivet.Våra informanter bestod av anställda inom projektet samt deltagare som nyligen fullgjort sin utbildning i Korta vägen.Frågeställningarna har varit hur deltagare och anställda talar om projektet och vilka diskurser som används och reproduceras via talet.I vårt resultat redogör vi för åtta olika diskurser som vi har kunnat urskilja utifrån vårt empiriska material. Diskurserna berör kultur, språk, nätverk, pedagogik, samhällsekonomi, praktik samt terapeutiska relationer. Resultatet visar även hur majoriteten av diskurserna går att koppla till svenskhet samt vilken betydelse svenskhet har för människors möjligheter på den svenska arbetsmarknaden.Slutligen problematiserar vi hur en exkludering på den svenska arbetsmarknaden finns inbäddad i vår samhällsstruktur, och hur vi omedvetet upprätthåller och reproducerar denna. Problematiseringen har gjorts med diskursanalytiska teorier av Foucault, Derrida och Berger och Luckmann..

The Anglo-Saxon trust is not a new phenomenon, but existed as early as in the Middle Ages. The concept is customary among common-law countries, such as England the US,but unfamiliar to civil-law countries like Sweden. The person who creates the trust is called a settlor, the one who holds and administer the property is a trustee and the person who benefits from the settlement is called a beneficiary.In Sweden there is no legislation of how the trust ought to be assessed, but the need to understand it has probably increased with the internationalization.The Swedish Supreme Administrative Court has had a few opportunities to elucidate some of the uncertainties regarding trusts, but chose to abstain. This papers? objective is to examine the effects that labour market institutions (LMI) have on the unemployment in the short- and the medium run throughout the new Keynesian NAIRU theory, but also to make a comparison with the postkeynesian capital stocks? effect on the unemployment. Thus, it is this papers? main objective to study the economic effects that LMI, capital accumulation and varied macroeconomic shocks might have on unemployment. The paper uses econometric regression models as a methodological benchmark in order to estimate each independent variable?s level of significance and to approximate the effect each have on the dependent variable.
