Organic food is produced in a way that strives towards maintaining and improving natural resources. The welfare of both producers and consumers is central, also taking both animals and the environment into account. The Swedish government finds this important and in 2006 they made a resolution that the consumption of organic food should be stimulated. The goal was that 25 % of the municipalities? consumption of food should be organic in 2010.The municipality of Ludvika reached the government's target in 2011 and is currently increasing their proportion of organic food by one new product every year.  Ludvika is a member of The National Association of Swedish Eco-municipalities and the town of Ludvika is also a Fairtrade city.

Purpose: The purpose of this interview study was to describe the nurses? view of their experiences of interaction with other professionals to improve the elderly patient's nutritional status in municipal elderly care.Method: The study is based on qualitative interviews with nine nurses and was analyzed according to a qualitative content analysis method.Results: The main themes that emerged: Communication among the involved, To feel secure in their role, Lack of structure. The nurses worked closely with nursing staff and cooperated more with doctors about nutrition than with the physiotherapist and occupational therapist. The nurses felt they had the main responsibility for maintaining a good nutritional status of the elderly patient and described themselves as primarily responsible for nutrition while they lacked nutritional competence equal to the responsibilities they had during the whole nutrition process. The nurses had no community dietitian?s skills and felt that the dietitian had a great responsibility and the most updated knowledge in diet and nutrition.

Bakgrund Intermittent fasta är ett aktuellt ämne som fått stort genomslag i Sverige. Forskningen har konstaterat att intermittent fasta kan påverka kroppsvikten och den mentala hälsan. Det har även observerats ett samband mellan intermittent fasta och förlängt liv.Syfte Syftet med studien var att utforska vilka upplevelser och erfarenheter människor har som går eller har gått på en intermittent fasta, samt ta reda på vilka motiv och drivkrafter som influerar människor till att utöva denna kosthållning. Metod Åtta kvalitativa intervjuer med semistrukturerad frågeguide genomfördes. Intervjuerna spelades in och transkriberades ordagrant.

Ättiden kan påverka hästars välmående. Syftet med litteraturarbetet var att studera hur man kan tillgodose hästens behov av att äta en stor del av dygnet, samt anpassa utfodringen inte bara till näringsbehovet utan även behovet av att utföra ätbeteende. Hästar i det vilda ägnar större delen av sin tid åt att äta och samma beteende ses hos tamhästar om de ges möjligheten. I det vilda äter hästar i perioder om 2-4 timmar åt gången, och uppehållen varar inte längre än 3-5 timmar. Begränsad utfodring kan innebära en stress för hästen om den inte kan tillfredsställa sitt beteendebehov av att äta. Det finns ett samband mellan begränsad fodertillgång och onormala beteenden.

Background: Sweden is a country where vitamin D deficiency seems to be common, partly because of its geographical position, which reduces the availability of UVB radiation, but also that people avoid sunlight due to increased skin cancer risk. Research shows that vitamin D plays an important role in the prevention of many diseases such as cancer as well as autoimmune and neuropsychiatric diseases.Vitamin D is a fat soluble pre-hormone and a collective name for closely related compounds which act as hormones after undergoing a transformation in the body.Humans can utilize vitamin D through diet and produce it in the body by exposing the skin to the sun. Previous observational studies and epidemiological studies have established a hypothesis that there seems to be an association between vitamin D supplementation and reduction of depressive symptoms.Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate if vitamin D supplements may decrease depressive symptoms.Methods: This work is organized as a literature review and article search is made in the database PubMed in January 2012. Keywords used were ?vitamin D and depression? and inclusion criteria were: randomized clinical trials, be conducted on humans, written in English.

This study has been done in order to map the supply of vegetarian and vegan food products in Sweden for business clients and consumers. A total of 665 food stuffs were found and classified into six categories. The biggest category was meat substitutes with 302 products and the second largest category was sandwich spreads with 150 different products. Within the remaining categories a varied number of products were found; 86 beverages, 64 cooking accessories, 34 milk free ice creams and 29 plant based yogurts. Of the meat substitutes were 28 only available for business clients.

A diet based on a bigger part of locally produced vegetables can contribute to decreasing environmental impact and improved health. In Gotland horticulture has increased more than in Sweden in total during the last 15 years. To investigate possibilities for development of Gotland´s horticulture, the cultivation of potato, vegetables, fruits and berries was mapped through a questionnaire among growers. Interviews and a workshop with growers and reseller were conducted to investigate the interest and prerequisites for growing new crops. In total approximately 2340 hectares of potato, vegetables, fruits and berries were grown in Gotland in 2012.

Bakgrund: Tidigare studier har identifierat flera riskfaktorer, såsom kost, fysisk aktivitet och BMI, gällande kolorektal cancer. Att analysera kost utifrån kostmönster istället för enskilda livsmedel har visat sig vara effektivt för att undersöka risker för kolorektal cancer. Datamaterial samlades in med hjälp av en fall-kontroll studie med 257 fall och 805 kontroller.Syfte: Identifiera faktorer som ger en höjd eller sänkt risk för kolorektal cancer utifrån områdena kost, fysisk aktivitet och BMI.Metod: Faktoranalys användes för att upptäcka kostmönster. Logistisk regression användes för att skatta oddskvoter och 95 % konfidensintervall.Resultat: Tio stycken kostmönster erhölls från faktoranalysen. Kostmönstren ?Läsk, juice och mjölkprodukter? (OR=1,288; ORQ4=2,159), ?Te, men inte kaffe?(OR=1,228; ORQ3=1,891; ORQ4=1,668) och ?Fågel, rött kött och fisk?( ORQ4=1,724) gav alla en ökad risk.

Celiaki är en kronisk autoimmun överkänslighetssjukdom mot proteinet gluten. Gluten förekommer i vete, korn, råg och havre. Sädesslagen innehåller olika prolaminer, vilka gemensamt benämns för gliadin. Autoantigenet utgörs av enzymet vävnadstransglutaminas (tTG). Genom deamidering medför enzymet att gliadinets immunogenitet ökar.

The dog is unique in the way that the adult weight can vary 100 folds between the different breeds. Despite this, most of the breeds reach adult size before two years of age. For the large-breed dogs this means a very rapid growth when some of them can have a weight gain of up to 150 times their birth weight. The most rapid growth occurs when the puppies are between three to six months old and that kind of rapid growth during such a short period of time makes these large-breed puppies very sensitive to deficits and excesses of energy, nutrients and minerals. Some examples can be excess of energy, excess or deficit of minerals such as calcium and phosphorus or deficits of protein. The rapid growth can also make the large-breed puppies predisposed to some diseases affecting the skeletal and joints.

Syfte: Syftet med denna systematiska ?versikt ?r att unders?ka om medelhavskost (MD) p?verkar graden av depression hos vuxna personer med depression. Metod: Litteraturs?kningen genomf?rdes i databaserna PubMed och Scopus i januari 2023 efter randomiserade kontrollerade studier (RCT). S?kningen utgick fr?n tre block, d?r ett block innefattade depression, det andra blocket innefattade MD och det tredje blocket var RCT. Inkluderad population var vuxna (18?65 ?r gamla) m?n och kvinnor med kliniskt diagnostiserad depression eller sj?lvrapporterad depression de senaste tv? m?naderna eller l?ngre.

Bakgrund: Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) och Funktionell Dyspepsi (FD) är två syndrom som många personer lider av och som det inte finns någon botande behandling för. Då syndromen bara går att symptomlindra tar många av personerna som lider av dessa till egenvårdsmetoder som ofta är kostrelaterade. Att stötta och vägleda patienter i sin egenvård är en uppgift som sjuksköterskor i allmänhet har, och i synnerhet för dessa patienter eftersom ingen botande behandling finns. Syfte: Syftet med föreliggande litteraturstudie var att beskriva kostrelaterade egenvårdsmetoder för patienter med Irritable Bowel Syndrome och/eller Funktionell Dyspepsi där upplevda och/eller observerade effekter beskrivits. Syftet var även att beskriva de valda studiernas datainsamlingsmetoder.

Intestinal lymfangiektasi (IL) är en ovanlig gastrointestinal sjukdom som karaktäriseras av patologisk dilatation av tarmens lymfkärl. Sjukdomen drabbar både hundar och människor men behandlingen divergerar inom human- respektive veterinärmedicinen. Etiologin är ännu inte fullständigt belyst. Sannolikt finns ärftliga komponenter och gener essentiella för lymfangiogenes har isolerats. Patogenesen är relativt väl undersökt och behandlingen syftar till att reducera förlusten av plasmaproteiner.

Bakgrund:Att vara ung och få en kronisk sjukdom innebär för de flesta en omvälvande förändring i livet som kan påverka hela familjen. Diabetes typ 1 kräver mycket av en ung person och dennes familj, t.ex. att följa ett regelbundet schema för insulinintag, blodsockermätning, att hålla en särskild diet och föra regelbunden dagbok över blodsockervärdena, regelbunden fysisk aktivitet och att hantera lågt eller högt blodsocker. Compliance beskriver hur patientent vid en viss sjukdom följer råd och ordinationer. Syfte: Syftet med litteraturstudien var att beskriva faktorer som har betydelse för compliance hos ungdomar med diabetes typ 1.

Obesity is the most common nutritional disorder, and is defined as an accumulation of excessive amounts of adipose tissue in the body. Obesity is a condition where an animal exceeds its optimum body weight by more than 10-25%. Risk factors associated with obesity may include breed, age, castration or high energy intake relative to energy consumption. The consequences of obesity are believed to be metabolic and hormonal changes, as well as cardiovascular and respiratory diseases, orthopedic problems, tumors and premature death. Prevention and early detection of obesity leads to better health care.
