The purpose of the study was to review the current veterinary literature regarding gastric dilatation and volvulus (GDV) considering pathophysiology and treatment, and to evaluate the operative technique (incisional gastropexy) used during the years 2005 and 2006 at the University Animal Hospital (Universitetsdjursjukhuset), SLU, Uppsala, Sweden. GDV has a complicated pathophysiology which foremost effects the circulatory system. Progress is often acute and it is not unusual that patients are affected with shock. The initial treatment targets to alleviate the shock by fluid therapy and decompression of the stomach. There is a high risk of recurrence in the long term perspective unless the stomach is surgically fixated by gastropexy. The study describes two different techniques for gastropexy; incisional gastropexy, and funduspexy. Long term complications were rare among the patients that were treated surgically, while about half out of the eighteen dogs that undergo surgery do experience complications of various severity in the short term..

The purpose of this essay is to analyze the view on sexuality held by Sweden?s first woman doctor Karolina Widerström, by using ideologycritical textanalysis on the written scriptures of dr. Widerström that focus on sexualpolitics. In doing this I use the theory of speech by Foucault. In this study I focus on Widerström?s scriptures, what she wrote about, how she wrote about it but also what she couldn't write due to the historical context and how omission can still speak of power.

Bakgrund: I sitt arbete möter sjuksköterskor individer som Àr allvarligt sjuka eller som tagit emot ett negativt besked. En sÄdan svÄr situation kan leda till en kraftfull psykologisk reaktion och om inte individens bemÀstringsförsök rÀcker till kan tillstÄndet leda till psykisk kris. Personer runt den drabbade, sÄsom nÀrstÄende, pÄverkas av situationen och kan uppvisa liknande mer eller mindre kraftfulla stressreaktioner och Àven psykisk kris. Det Àr sjuksköterskan ansvar att omhÀnderta och informera den nÀrstÄende. Att dessa möten Àr av god kvalitet Àr viktigt för att den drabbade ska kunna bearbeta den psykiska krisen.

Slutet av vÄra högskolestudier nÀrmar sig. MÄnga studenter kommer att söka arbete pÄ nÄgon av de revisionsbyrÄerna inom Sverige. Med tanke pÄ att just redovisningsinriktningen, inom ekonomiutbildningen, har blivit allt mer populÀr kan vi konstatera att konkurrensen blir allt hÄrdare. Syftet med denna uppsats Àr att de nyexaminerade studenter ska fÄ en inblick i samt lÀttare anpassa sig till de krav som arbetsgivarna stÀller. DÀrmed kan dessa studenter öka sin konkurrenskraft.

This essay will focus on the people using and are involved in, and have a large interest in the horror film genre. The purpose of this essay is to find what urge these people to continuously watch horror movies and how they believe to be acknowledge by the society in a modern sense. Our study is mainly based on two separate interviews and therefore, mainly from the users perspective. This essay is also complemented by earlier research on this topic. In context of stigma, violence debate, exclusion we found that the users truly can be found in a rare type of alternative sphere, besides the public sphere.

Few rectory gardens are today remaining in their former design and the cultural heritage that they represent are disappearing. Since 1987-88 the parishes are no longer bound to keep housing for their priests, which means that they, for economical reasons, are starting to sell their rectories. With this in mind, a group of people, growing up in rectories in SmĂ„land and Öland between the 1930th and 1950th, formed an interest group to save the memory of their rectory gardens. On the basis of their memories, they have written a couple of descriptions of the rectories, which describe the gardens content, design and the life they once lived there. With this compilation of the 14 rectory gardens I want to keep the memory of them and create a ground for future work in this field. Historically the rectory gardens played an important roll as patterns and examples in the countryside.

The aim of this study is to increase knowledge about how a group of newly graduated social workers reflect on the practical daily work and their positions working with clients who are in need of social and/or economic resources. More precisely the purpose is to find out how these seven newly graduated social workers viewed working with clients during theoretical and practical studies. The aim is to analyze which techniques and methods could be seen in these narratives. Furthermore the aim was to find out if and how these seven social workers reflected on the power relation between social worker and client.The material of this study consists of seven semi-structured interviews. Throughout gathering the data and analyzing it, the qualitative method in form of narrative approach was used.

This study examines some students? attitudes towards mathematics in grade 2-4. When studying students? attitudes questionnaires and interviews are often being used as methods. In this study we used a more rare method.

Syftet med denna studie var att belysa olika aspekter av nyutexaminerade allmÀnsjuksköterskors erfarenheter av att möta nÀrstÄende i sorg. Studien hade en kvalitativ ansats och data insamlades genom sex stycken bandade intervjuer pÄ tre medicinavdelningar vid ett medelstort sjukhus i mellersta Sverige. Datamaterialet analyserades enligt en manifest metod och ur analysen skapades tvÄ huvudteman ? relationer och kunskap. Det största temat Àr relationer som byggs upp av tre underteman och beskriver sjuksköterskans förhÄllande till nÀrstÄende, sig sjÀlv och övrig vÄrdpersonal.

Syftet med denna uppsats Àr att visa hur historien kring barnavÄrden pÄverkat dagens sociala barnavÄrd, vilka förÀndringar som har skett och vilka Àldre syn- respektive arbetssÀtt som finns kvar. Vi vill Àven undersöka dagens intentioner med det sociala barnavÄrdsarbetet, finns det eventuella hinder som försvÄrar dessa?Uppsatsen inleds med en bakgrundsbeskrivning av socialtjÀnstens barnavÄrds historia, lagförÀndringar, förhÄllningssÀtt, etik och ungdomars röst. Detta mynnar sedan ut i hur det sociala arbetet ser ut idag med fokus pÄ socialsekreterarnas arbete med barn, unga och deras familjer. Vi har anvÀnt oss av en kvalitativ ansats med semistrukturerade intervjuer dÀr vi intervjuat tre socialsekreterare ifrÄn tre medelstora kommuner i södra delen av Stockholm.I vÄrt resultat och analysdel har vi anvÀnt oss av bakgrunden, tidigare forskning, teoretiska perspektiv samt vÄrt intervjumaterial.

Genom kvalitativa intervjuer och observationer har jag underso?kt deras olika metoder.

The aim of this master thesis is to study if the websites of the Swedish public libraries are accessible to all people. According to the library law all people must have access to the public libraries and their information services. Today, when the Internet is one of the largest sources of information, it is important that all people, including those with different kind of disabilities, children, elderly, immigrants and people with old technical equipment, have access to the public libraries websites.We have in this study considered the graphic user interface, the language, the structure and the navigation possibilities at ten public library websites. We have from a checklist of our own, based upon the opinion of different experts such as Jacob Nielsen and Tommy Sundström, investigated the websites.The main finding of our study is that the websites are generally accessible even thou we found a lack of accessible for immigrants. Most of the websites had some pages in English, but none hade all pages in this language.

Sammanfattning: Arbetsterapeuter vÀgleder mÀnniskor som har fÄtt en skada eller sjukdomsom pÄverkar deras utförande av vardagliga aktiviteter. Den interprofessionellakommunikationen (IPK) Àr av betydelse för att ett team ska kunna arbeta klientcentrerat ochge en god vÄrd. I ett teamarbete Àr det viktigt att alla professioner samarbetar och har kunskapom varandras roller. Interprofessionell utbildning ger möjligheter till att utveckla en positivbild av andra professioner vilket ökar teameffektiviteten. FörutsÀttningar för ett bra samarbetemellan professioner Àr förstÄelse för sin egen och andras roller, kunskap, ömsesidig respektoch förmÄga att kommunicera med andra.

A trend in modern landscape architecture is to design pedestrian streets so that vehicles and people move in the same area. By doing this, traffic tends to slow down. On the market though, there is a lack of furniture that corresponds to the requirements of these kinds of public places. Therefore, I have designed this furniture, called VOX, which is planned to be used on streets, schoolyards and squares. One objective has been to promote the product to the industry.To achieve this, I have been in contact with people from different professions, which have all influenced my designprocess.
