This paper deals with archaeological prospection of an Iron Age farm site in Toland, Fresta parish, Uppland County in Sweden. The purpose of the paper has been to see whether the geophysical methods applied (GPR & EM-38) could produce useful results that could motivate its use in similar surveys in the future. Geochemistry has been used for the purpose of identifying possible activity areas on the site. The results have shown that it is possible with a GPR survey to identify postholes originating from the Migration Period longhouse at the site. This thesis aims to examine and critically revise the language in two of Sweden ?s major newspapers Dagens Nyheter (DN) and Svenska Dagbladet (SvD), regarding the reporting of the police department of Skånes registration of the Swedish Romani minority. The research method used is qualitative text analysis based on Teun Van Dijks model for critical discourse analysis of news discourse. The material examined contains of four articles published the last week of September 2013. This thesis has a critical perspective based on the notion that the media influence the public?s opinion about certain themes, and strives to contribute to the field of research about how the Romani minority is being portrayed in the Swedish press.Previous research of the representation of ethnic minorities in the media has shown that ethnic minorities usually are represented in contexts of criminality or social problems.

Syftet med denna uppsats är att jämföra tre olika svenska kommuners hantering av extern handel i den fysiska planeringen med fokus på eventuella intressekonflikter mellan kommunens fysiska planerare, kommunens näringslivskontor och beslutsfattande politiker. Kommunerna som granskas i uppsatsen är Ronneby, Kalmar och Alingsås kommun. Uppsatsen ska belysa problematiken med extern handeln och bidra till medvetenhet om marknadskrafternas roll i den fysiska planeringen. Syftet uppnås genom en kvalitativ metod där kommunala dokument har granskats och intervjuer ägt rum med politiker, fysiska planerare och näringslivsrepresentanter från varje kommun. Externhandel har under de senaste decennierna ökat över hela landet och detaljhandeln i externa lägen har varit extremt framgångsrik under den senaste tioårsperioden.

The aim of this study was to examine how the social services could investigate and support children of irregular immigrants within the boundaries of the law. More specifically it aimed to examine the legal possibilities and obstacles for the social services to support irregular immigrants, how the officials at the social services act considering the legal aspects, and how they reason morally and ethically when dealing with irregular immigrants. To answer the aim of the study the theory of positive law was used combined with qualitative interviews with two officials at the social services. Moreover a small quantitative telephone study with officials in the social services and with voluntary organizations was made. The study has used theories of sociology of law, law and ethics, and professional (civil) disobedience.

The purpose of this study is to compare students (both male and female), from the Linnaeus University in Kalmar, about their perceptions with a particular focus on identity and self-esteem. In regards to the current societal problem concerning obesity and beauty ideals, this paper aimed to study the student?s opinions concerning health and diets in order to fully answer the purpose of the study. The theory used in this paper is in particular regards to identity and self-esteem. In order to answer the study questions, a qualitative approach was conducted in the form of various focus groups.

ABSTRACTThe aim of this study is to look into how ex-offenders experience that stigmatization and labeling- processes might affect their possibilities to create an integrated and adapted life in society. It is also of interest to study how and if the interviewees experience their self-image to be affected by these processes. Our research-questions are:-          How do ex-offender males experience stigmatization and labeling-processes to impact their possibilities when trying to re-integrate into society?-          Do ex-offender males experience their self-image being affected by stigmatization and labeling-processes? If so, how are they affected? In order to achieve this we interviewed members of the organization KRIS in Örebro, where we selected males over 23 years of age with a prior prison sentence. The study is based on the labeling-theory of Howard Becker as well as the stigma-theory by Erving Goffman.In the conclusions derived from the results we found that the interviewees experience a more distinct and obvious stigmatization and labeling from authorities such as the police and the legal system, than that from other people in society.

Analysis of Jonas Åström 's peasant-diary 1868-1891 Peasant diaries are notes written by farmers, crofters and other people connected with small-scale agriculture. The notes give unique information about diverse aspects of rural life, for example, personal relationships and work, travel and regularity of church attendance. One such diary was written by Jonas Åström who lived in the county of Västerbotten, Sweden. The main aim of this study is to describe the work done by farmers in the 19th century, focusing on their use of forest resources, as recorded in his diary.

This paper deals with the late Viking age/early medieval grave field in Björned, Torsåker parish, Ångermanland County in northern Sweden. The grave field in Björned is rare because it has all the signs of being Christianized before the surroundings. This awakes questions such as if the people of Björned came from another place and brought the religion with them or if someone else did that for them. To find these answers I have analysed the stable isotope ratios [delta]13C, [delta]15N and [delta]34S in human bone collagen. Through these stable isotopes we can not only see what the people consumed but also where their food had its origin.

Syfte: Uppsatsen syftar till att utreda i vilken utsträckning visuell stimuli i form av informativ skyltning kan främja kunders köpbeteende angående miljömärkta produkter. Studien ämnar även klargöra om priskampanjer har en inverkande effekt på sambandet mellan visuell stimuli och köpbeteende i butikslandskapet.Metod: Undersökningen baseras på en kvantitativ metod och resultatet bygger på statistiska analyser. En hypotestestande deduktiv ansats med en experimentell undersökningsdesign har tillämpats. Sammanlagt genomfördes 832 observationer på ICA Maxi Stormarknad i Kalmar.Resultat och slutsats: Studiens resultat visar att visuell stimuli, i form av informativa skyltar, påverkar individers köpbeteende. Priskampanjer däremot, har ett större inflytande på köpbeteendet vilket medför att det inte kan statistiskt säkerställas att visuell stimuli kan överkomma ekonomisk rationalisering..

Bronze Age cairns have been interpreted as everything from navigation marks to marking liminal places in the landscape. It has also been stated that the main purpose of their location is to be visible. This is something that has been taken for granted. The main problem is the cairns have been considered as a homogenous monument. With the help of digital methods like GIS it is possible to test this kind of questions in quantitative way.

I det här arbetet behandlas användningen av 3D som planeringsverktyg för kommunal planering och vägprojektering. Projektet går ut på att utveckla en 3D-modell över ett område i Kalmar med teorier inom informationsdesign och kommunikation med kartor. Huvudsyftet är att undersöka hur en stadsmiljö i 3D kan utvecklas för att bli ett hjälpmedel i planeringsprocessen och dialogen med Kalmars befolkning och press.Med stöd i teorier och en kvalitativ undersökning genom ett användartest undersöks problemformuleringen: Hur kan man utveckla en tredimensionell miljö i syfte att underlätta planeringen av nybyggnationer på områden Norra Kvarnholmen och Malmfjärden med utgångspunkt från teorier kring kommunikationsprocesser och kommunikation via kartor? Hur kan de huvudanvändare som skapar objekt i sagda miljö placera in valda byggnader och trafiklösningar?Resultatet och slutsatsen av undersökningen visar att bilder och filmsekvenser ifrån en 3D-modell är ett värdefullt verktyg i planeringssammanhang och i syftet att föra en dialog med dess målgrupp..

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to examine the collaboration between school librarians and teachers in primary school, in order to illustrate how the two professions can work together, how they see their own roles and how they look at the other professionals´ roles. We also discuss earlier studies in LIS concerning collaboration between teachers and librarians. The method of investigation is qualitative interviews with practicing school librarians and teachers, we interviewed three school librarians and three teachers from three different schools in the same county.  As a basis of the discussion and analysis Andrew Abbott's theory of professions is used. The thesis shows that collaboration differs between the schools.

Denna uppsats studerar fotbollssupportrarna i deras roll som konsumenter men framförallt som producenter ? som värdeskapare. Syftet är att kartlägga och ana­ly­sera deras kommunikativa praktiker för att på så sätt ta reda på i vilken omfattning de producerar värde för sina fotbollsklubbar. Utgångspunkten är att supportrarnas identitetssökande supporterskap i kombination med projicering har stor betydelse för hur starka de band blir som knyts med fotbolls­klubben. Projiceringen syftar till att få bilden av klubben att passa in i den egna livsstilen.

Syftet med denna studie är att granska hur man som nautiker skall framföra sitt fartyg med hänsyn tagen till säkerheten och sjövägsreglerna i en korsande situation där ett väjningsskyldigt fartyg inte väjer. Vi genomförde en fallstudie bestående av en simulatorövning för ovetande styrmän och semistrukturerade intervjuer med nautiker från Stena Line, Scandlines och Wallenius. Genom att testa intervjurespondenternas lösningar i fartygssimulatorn på Sjöbefälsskolan i Kalmar kom vi fram till för- och nackdelar med olika sätt att agera. Vi har fått en ökad förståelse för hur sjövägsreglerna bör tillämpas i korsande situationer som vi vill att läsaren ska kunna tillgodogöra sig genom att läsa vårt arbete.
