Sweden is a multi cultural country, where almost twenty percent of the population come from another cultural background. This study examines to what extent people with a foreign origin appear in two local, Swedish newspapers, Barometern and Östra Småland, and what role they are given. Do they appear as foreigners or immigrants or do they figure as any Swede, irrespective of their origin background?We have made a review by studying pictures of people with a foreign origin, based on name and appearance. During the time period, March 1st ? April 30 th 2010, there were 2206 articles with pictures of people where 189 of them did show people with a foreign origin.

The purpose of this study is to discuss how journalists think about the interaction with the audience in social media and the fact that it can make the traditional audience feel excluded. The study shows how journalists on P4 Kalmar is experiencing audience interaction in social media and describes how aware the journalists are about the digital divide. The results show that all of our interviewed journalists think that the interaction with the audience through social media works well and that there is awareness among journalists about the digital divide. The results also show that many of the interviewed journalists had not reflected on that parts of the audience can feel excluded by the interaction taking place in social media, but some of them could understand if parts of the audience felt that way. We consider our study as part of a research field on journalist?s interactivity with the audience through different types of media, but also as source of inspiration for future research on how the digital media becomes one with the community..

The aim of this study is to describe and analyse an elderly care team?s prerequisite to anchor a salutogenic perspective and approach in an elderly care team in Kalmar municipality. The study identifies factors that could impede or promote the anchoring and examine how the organisation aims to work in a single direction even if the multidisciplinary team processes a diversity of knowledge, education and abilities. The study is based on qualitative semi-structured interviews from representatives of all professions in the multidisciplinary team; social workers, paramedical professions, nurses and care-givers. The theoretical frame consisted of a translating perspective, leadership and ideas of interaction and power.

This masters thesis aims to explore the branch libraries in Kalmar municipality and their relation to the Information and communication technology ICTsociety. How do they adapt to and assimilate with, the ICT-society? What are their roles in local social networks and do they make a difference there? To answer these questions, critical discourse analysis, CDA, as founded by Norman Fairclough is applied to four interwievs with branch library managers. Other theorists used are Michel Foucault, Chaïm Perelman and Ludwig Wittgenstein. A solid description of todays society on different levels is also given.

Utöver detta tillverkas även truckar som hanteringslösningar av containrar i hamnar och terminaler, där de idag är marknadsledande. Förtaget har idag 87 interntruckar, varav 52 egenägda och 35 leasade, som används inom produktionen vid förflyttning av material. Då de här truckarna har skiljande användning är Kalmar AB i behov av att undersöka truckarnas kostnader, baserat på deras nyttjande, för att på så vis bli mer kostnadseffektiva inom detta avseende. Vid eventuell service och reparation av truckarna används idag koncernens serviceavdelning, men leder till höga kostnader som företaget menar på kan reduceras ifall detta sköts internt.

Uppsatsens syfte är att undersöka nuläge och önskad förändring för Kalmar läns arbete med kultur i lärandet, identifiera hinder och möjligheter för arbetet samt komma med rekommendationer för hur kommuner och länskultur tillsammans kan främja utvecklingen av kultur i lärandet.Vi har använt en kvalitativ metod och antagit en abduktiv ansats eftersom vi gjort tolkningar och skapat mening utifrån observerade fenomen baserat på tidigare erfarenheter. De fält vi valt att studera är kultur respektive lärande i grundskolan. Vi har granskat förändringar i deras gemensamma rörelse och rörelse i relation till varandra. För att illustrera rörelsens riktning och omfattning har vi använt oss av Koblancks (2009) ITKmodell. Vi har sedan analyserat förändringen med hjälp av teorier om organisationsförändring, från bland andra Carnell (2003), Alvesson & Sveningsson (2008) och Jacobsen (2005). För att kunna komma med framåtsyftande rekommendationer har vi använt oss av Jacobsens teorier om Strategi E och Strategi O.Vi har intervjuat rektorer och ansvariga tjänstemän inom skol- och kulturförvaltningar i de, av projektet ?Skola & Kultur?, utsedda pilotkommunerna Borgholm, Kalmar och Vimmerby, samt cheferna för länsinstitutionerna i Kalmar län.Den önskade förändring i arbetet med kultur i lärandet vi utläser ur våra respondenters svar är en rörelse från fokus på konstnärliga produkter som kommuniceras enkelriktat, till en kontinuerlig dialog där det konstnärliga och det målstödjande viktas lika högt.

The thesis strives to reveal the dynamics between a central and a peripheral shopping area in Kalmar, Sweden. The establishment of larger shopping centers has become a hallmark of postindustrial cities. Cities globally are at risk of creating an urban economic rift between the central and peripheral shopping areas. By establishing major shopping venues around the traditional central business districts, cities hope to create a larger customer hinterland and thereby also increased economic growth. The aim of this thesis is answered by two research questions regarding collaboration and competition between two shopping areas; the central Kvarnholmen and peripheral Hansa City Mall.

AbstractThe purpose of this study is to investigate how value creation influences consumers´ choice of market place. We have chosen to focus on how inner city centers can compete with external shopping malls by examining what values consumers find essential in shopping areas. The development within the retail market with more external malls outside cities has resulted in impoverished city centers; therefore, new strategies towards more attractive servicescapes in the inner city are crucial. The study is based on a qualitative approach due to deeper understanding and closeness to the subject, where Kalmar city is chosen as a case. We have completed a focus group study where respondents from each target group where represented.

This study aims to examine how the interventions for homeless persons in the municipality of Kalmar are organized. The study is based on four half-structured qualitative interviews with both representatives from different instances and also from persons who have experience of being homeless.The theoretical bases we have used to analyze the material are organization theory, specifically the concept of bureaucracy. Our results show that homelessness is not seen as a problem in itself, since the general view is that homeless people often have a complex problem scenario where drug- and alcohol abuse and mental illness are common.It is often the latter that takes priority in the interventions and the housing question is therefore neglected. We also found that social services do not have a satisfactory structure around the organization of the work on homelessness. They do not have any specific device in Kalmar that focus on homelessness issues with the result that the existing units are forced to take care of the work of homelessness.

Syfte:Målet med studien var att undersöka om prevalensen av hyperopi (och inducerad hyperopi) och astigmatism skiljer sig mellan barn med dyslexi och barn med ospecifika läs- och skrivsvårigheter. Blir de hjälpta av eventuell korrektion?Metod:Skolpedagoger i Kalmar, Nybro och Mörbylånga lämnade ut inbjudan för synundersökning till barn med läs-och skrivsvårigheter.Synundersökninanra genomfördes på C-optik synklinik i Kalmar.Tjugofyra barn med ospecefika läs- och skrivsvårigheter och nio barn med dyslexi deltog i undersökningen . En tid efter synundersökningen kontaktades förädrar för en uppföljningsintervju.Resultat: Jämförelse mellan grupperna visade ingen skillnad med avseende refraktion. Alla barn som deltog förutom ett, ordinerades korrektion för hyperopi.

The purpose of this study was to examine and evaluate an assembly station at Kalmar Industries in respect to ergonomics. The study was to result in an improved assembly station with lower risk of work- related injuries. It was the study group?s expectation that the measures taken at the assembly station can function as guidance and an inspiration for other ergonomic improvements at the company. Several goals related to the purpose were established as guidance for the study.The mechanic?s work situation was mapped through a series of methods.

Tullhamnen kännetecknas idag av stora asfaltytor som upplåts för bilparkering och trafikstråk. All vattenkontakt i området avsätts idag för bilens ändamål - för parkering och vägar. Kalmar Municipality has in 2008-2010 made an effort to educate managers on gender, with the goal of mainstreaming gender into public activities so that all citizens should feel safe in that treatment and services are designed and resources are distributed equally to both sexes living conditions and needs. The overall aim of this study was to examine whether the training effort has paid off, and how gender mainstreaming has been implemented in the different activities. We have used a qualitative approach, which we examined through interviews managers' approach to gender equality.Gender was generally described as an important issue of all respondents, and all were working to mainstream gender into their activities and workplaces. The results show that the operational and management needed clearer directives and strategies in their efforts to promote gender equality. Education was necessary because personal definition of gender may differ from the control contents of the documents.

Denna uppsats syfte är att tudelat i två större undersökningsområden. Den första delen utgörs av en kvantitativ studie av hur Kalmar metodistförsamlings sociala struktur såg ut och hur den förändrades under åren 1868-1901. Utifrån församlingens ministerialböcker har jag konstruerat tabeller där medlemmarnas yrkes- eller civilstatus presenterats. Dessa uppgifter har sedan jämförts med konferensprotokoll där det framgått vilken ställning olika personer inom församlingen hade. Den sociala sammansättningen inom församlingen dominerades av kvalificerade yrkesarbetare under de tre första nedslagen 1871, 1881 och 1891.

More specifically its aim was to find out more about the function and the meaning of the appraisal talk, for the organization, managers and co-workers point of view, and if there was any specific method applied. Two of the central questions were: How did the managers and co-workers describe the function and the meaning of appraisal talks? Were there any differences or similarities of the respondent?s point of view, depended of their position in the organization? The method of analysis was qualitative with a critical reflective approach. The study was based on interviews with three managers and four co-workers, in the public service of elderly care in Kalmar municipality.
