I Sverige i dag, är män underrepresenterade i förskolan, cirka 3% av arbetskraften är män. Utbildningsstyrelsen i Sverige, Skolverket, försöker ändra på detta genom elevrekryteringskampanjer riktade mot män. De upprättar också nätverk inom universiteten för att öka antalet manliga sökande i förskoleutbildningen och för att minska antalet män inom detta område som dra sig tillbaka. Det huvudsakliga syftet med denna studie var att avgöra vilka kvaliteter och / eller egenskaper män har som är tillgångar till förskolor i Sverige. Känner barn och förskollärare ett behov av män i förskolan, och i så fall, hur definieras dessa behov? Undersökningen sker genom observationer och intervjuer med tio pedagoger i två förskolor; Men endast en av dessa lärare var män.

This master thesis is discussing ten pony books from 2006 in relation to the heterosexual matrix. It contains a rather extensive research overview regarding horse riding from a gender perspective, pony books, traditional feminist studies of girls? books and queer readings of girls? and children?s literature. The aim of the empirical study is two folded; firstly to show how the girl protagonists? horse riding is presented in terms of masculinity and femininity (as defined by Natalie Koivula), secondly to analyze the relations between the girls appearing in the books from a queer perspective attempting to find some queer leakage in the depictions.

This text aims to examine how teaching in literature can contribute to the schools work with creating an antidiscriminating environment. When it comes to the Swedish schools antidiscrimination plans, this essay focuses especially on those sections that concerns pupils and student right to their own gender identity and expression.The main theories in this examination are Judith Butler?s theory on gender and performativity, queer theory defined by Fanny Ambjörnsson and theories concerning adolescent psychology with focus on the adolescent identity and it?s forming. Together with Mikhail Bakhtin?s carnival theory the text examines how Jessica Schiefauer?s novel Pojkarna (The Boys; 2012) describes a young adolescent girl?s journey to finding and forming her own gender and sexual identity.

Sarah Kane?s first play Blasted (1995) has often been read in a normative and biographical way by critics, authors and previous researchers. This essay makes a supplementary close reading of Blasted from gender and genealogical perspectives and utilizes theoretical works by Judith Butler, Luce Irigaray and Michel Foucault. My study makes clear that the characters different positions in language and talk create and maintain a power imbalance between them. Efforts to change and develop one?s individual position in language and talk are being made throughout the play since it is the only way to bring about a change in the social power structure.

As a framework we rely on the method outlined by Pierre Bourdieu when he approaches the cultural and social worlds through the concept of fields. År 2013 kom en ny lag i Sverige som helt förbjöd tvångssterilisering. Från 1975 fram till 2013 har människor som bytt kön varit tvungna att sterilisera sig. På grund av den nya lagen har steriliseringsproblematiken lyfts upp igen och blivit aktuellt. Syftet med undersökningen har varit att se olika ?vinster och förluster? med steriliseringslagarnas tillämpning.

I denna kvalitativa uppsats har jag fokus på kvinnors sexualitet och hur samhällets normer påverkar och begränsar kvinnor i utövandet av deras sexualitet. Data kommer från Kerstin Thorvalls bok ?Jag minns alla mina älskare och hur de brukade ta på mig? (2000) där hon som huvudkaraktär i boken berättar om sina sexuella möten med män och hur hon upplever detta samt hur samhället och andra individer bemöter henne och särskilt då hennes sexualitet.Teoretiska utgångspunkter i uppsatsen är Gayle Rubins sexuella värdehierarkier samt Judith Butlers och Lena Gemzöes tankar om genus och genusdualism. Även begreppet skam används med hjälp av teoretikerna Norbert Elias och William McDougall.Vad uppsatsen visade på var att Thorvall i vissa fall upplevde sig begränsad i utövandet av sin sexualitet på grund av de rådande normerna om kvinnors sexualitet i samhället. Men man kunde även se att dessa normer inte alltid fungerar som ett absolut avgörande i hennes handlingar vilket visar på att normer inte alltid har fullt inflytande över individers handlingar.

Denna studie utgår från Judith Butlers genusteori om hur kön görs samt Michel Foucaults teorier om samhällsnormer och makt i förhållande till särskiljandemekanismer och vansinnesdefinitioner. Studien fokuserar på psykiatriska diagnoser ur ett genusperspektiv. Fokus har lagts på diagnoserna Aspergers syndrom och borderline personlighetsstörning då tidigare forskning visat att könsfördelningen inom dessa psykiatriska diagnoser är väldigt ojämn. Syftet med studien är att undersöka genusstrukturers påverkan på psykiatrisk diagnostisering utifrån DSM-IV. Utifrån syftet har följande frågeställningar utformats: Går det att benämna diagnoskriterier som könsneutrala då diagnostisering i hög grad handlar om andra människors (vars egna erfarenheter och värderingar färgar neutraliteten) bedömningar? Hur kommer det sig att könsfördelningen är så ojämn inom diagnoser som Aspergers syndrom och borderline personlighetsstörning? En enkätundersökning har utförts bland verksamma psykologer inom Östersunds kommun.

Reading and analyzing literature has a long tradition of being an essential part of the teaching of English in Sweden. As the offers of entertainment have increased in popular culture with the introduction of computer games, internet and other media, interest in reading novels has decreased. Literature is still a compulsory part of English teaching and the question is how teachers of today use literature and what kind of literary instruction they use.The aim of this study is to explore and discuss the literary instruction discourse in pedagogical texts, lessons, created by and for English teachers of Swedish Upper Secondary Schools. The lessons have been collected from the site lektion.se, where teachers are able to share knowledge and lessons. The study uses an analytical method based on Norman Fairclough´s Critical Discourse Analysis in order to analyze the lessons.

The purpose of this thesis was to examine the ways in which the constructions of heterosexuality and gender in three Disney movies about princesses affect the power relations between men and women in the movies, and how discourses on gender and heterosexuality have changed over time. Research questions were:How do characters in the movies talk about gender and heterosexuality?How does the interplay between gender and heterosexuality affect the power relations between men and women in the movies?What are the likenesses and differences between movies from different time periods?Discourses were mapped out using a model based on Ernesto Laclau and Chantal Mouffe?s political theories. These discourses were then analyzed with a theoretical framework consisting of Yvonne Hirdman?s concept of gender system and gender contracts, Judith Butler?s view on the heterosexual matrix and an understanding of power relations based on Michel Foucault.

Den här studien är en kritisk granskning av programserien Sexinspektörerna som sändes i sex avsnitt på TV4 våren 2007. I Sexinspektörerna får heterosexuella par hjälp med sitt sex- och samliv av två experter på området. Syftet med vår studie är att undersöka hur programmet skapar och återskapar heteronormativitet och på så sätt hur femininitet(er) och maskulinitet(er) uttrycks inom den heterosexuella parrelationen. Uppsatsen utgår ifrån ett queerteoretiskt perspektiv och den heterosexuella matrisen utifrån Judith Butler. Genom att välja kritisk diskursanalys som metod har vi kunnat analysera så väl det som sägs i programmet som de bilder som visas och på så sätt tillföra ytterliggare en dimension till analysen.

This master?s thesis studies library teaching at two university libraries, Freie Universität Berlin in Germany and Södertörn University in Sweden. The aim of this paper is to study views on information literacy, how these views affect teaching practice, and how the teaching of information literacy is connected to, on the one hand, German and Swedish learning culture and, on the other, the local community of practice at the studied university libraries. The theories applied in this paper are learning culture and community of practice as developed in the works of Judith Ricken and Etienne Wenger. The methods that have been used are qualitative, semi-structured interviews that were conducted at both university libraries.It was observed that the teaching practices were highly connected to learning cultures.

Media has a big impact on our lives and is one of the main channels for people to recieve information. When recieved, the messages creates a meaning for the people that read, hear or see them. In other words, media could be seen as a source for people on how to perceive the world and it gives a certain picture of what is ?normal?. We chose to do this study to get a deeper knowledge of how men and women are being portrayed in a Swedish lifestyle magazine and what messagest that sends out to the readers.In this study we have examined how men and women are being portrayed in the Swedish magazine Café, both in photographs and in text.

The purpose of this thesis is to study how preschool teachers can reach the goal of the swedish educational plan to prevent traditional gender roles for children ages 3-6 through drama in education.This is answered by four hypothesis based on Judith Butler's queer theory, George Herbert Mead's social psychological theory and Gavin Bolton and Dotothy Heathcotes drama pedagogical theories. The hypotheses are tested against four teachers' examples of their work.The hypotheses areHypothesis 1: By using the expert's mantle and active observation in teacher-in-role indrama educational exercises, we can see how the children internalize the heterosexualmatrix and the outline of the internalized other.Hypothesis 2: By using the "mistakes" that occur when children repeat performativeacts that do not fit with the heterosexual matrix, these other possible behaviors can bestrengthenedHypothesis 3: Through drama exercises that are not normative teachers can widen theheterosexual matrixHypothesis 4: Through drama pedagogical methods like teacher-in-role teachers canprovide possibilities of other performative acts and the creation of a more tolerantinternalized other.The analysis show that the respondents work within all these hypotheses in different ways and thathypotheses 2 is the one with the weakest support in the interwievs. The examples are also weakregarding the use of Boltons drama pedagogical methods, but that there are a number of othermethods in use.Some of the conclusions are that more theoretical knowledge in the preschool drama pedagogics tocounteract traditional gender roles and patterns, as well as the drama of educational theory need tobe linked to queer and social psychology research. There is also no monitoring of the long term effects of the work..
