Background: The global capital markets have enlarged investment opportunities and thus also the sources of funds for companies which increasingly face global markets for their services and products. Huge capital movements show that investors are constantly searching ways to minimise risk and maximise returns. In the light of the substantial growth of assets in institutional funds, an important question for international finance is the degree to which institutional investors have diversified their portfolios internationally. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to examine the international diversification of portfolio investments of institutional investors in Japan, the US and the UK and deepen into international diversification in portfolios of Japanese institutional investors. Demarcations: Institutional investors can use their power directly in companies or indirectly through capital markets.

This study is performed as an Archive, Library and museum master?s thesis in two years studies. The overall aim is to investigate and analyze what the term Manga means in a library and information science context. The concept of Manga has different meanings depending on whether we start from a Japanese or a Swedish context. Manga is integrated in the Japanese society while Manga often is associated with youth culture or a separate genre in Sweden.

Den här uppsatsen skrevs för att belysa de hinder som kan uppstå när man som musiker tar sig an nutida musik, i detta fall japansk sådan. Den inriktning som arbetet tagit är hur man genom att förändra notbilden kan komma närmare musikens kärna, samt göra instuderingen så effektiv som möjligt under en relativt kort tid. För att nå de resultat jag gjort har jag använt mig av två informanter som arbetat med två stycken för solo flöjt av Kazuo Fukushima (1930), Mei (1962) och Shun?San (1969). Fallstudiens genomförande har tagit tre veckor där informanterna som är studenter har fått studera in båda verken och därefter notera om det ena av dem (Mei) för att se om de med denna metod kom närmare kärnan i musiken och kompositörens intention.

Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV) is one of the leading causes of acute encephalitis in humans. The virus is spread by mosquitoes, mainly belonging to the Culex species. The main reservoirs are considered to be birds and pigs, with pigs constituting the most important reservoir in regard to human infection. During the last few decades the production of pork has increased significantly in Vietnam. This study was performed to investigate how the Japanese sect Aum Shinrikyo was legitimating its violence and killing acts. By analyzing the leader and members of the sect, and applying this information on two theoretical models, this paper tries to give an explanation of both single acts of violence and killing, and two terrorattacks.The result shows that Aum Shinrikyo was able to legitimate violence and killing acts through its ideology. In their opinion, cosmos was a place with several levels and everyone wanted to get as high as possible. Those who were killed by the sect would never be able to get to a higher level by living, since they would do too many bad actions. The murderers also got better karma since they helped the person to a better place.The legitimating of violence and killing acts in Aum Shinrikyo can be explained as a duty that is holy, which agrees with the theorists about religious terrorism..

This essay investigates the relation between ?usage? and ?hearing? of dialectal words and expressions in the Ryukyu islands, Japan, in this case words and expressions from a mix of Ryukyuan and standard Japanese, so called uchinaa-yamatoguchi. A survey was conducted and in the questionnaires the respondents were asked to fill in the degree of usage and hearing of each word and expression, consisting of three alternatives each; use often, use seldom and never used - hear often, hear seldom and never heard.My findings show a stable pattern in the relation between usage and hearing, where the usage is relatively low compared to hearing in almost every case. Among the most frequently used ones, one could find words and expressions connected to food, festivals, type of person, adjectives, adverb and animals etc..

Denna uppsats består av en översättning av Abe K?b?s korta novell Den magiska kritan (???????) från japanska till svenska och en översättningskommentar som främst fokuserar på tre olika kategorier ord eller uttryck som kan vara problematiska vid översättning från japanska. Dessa kategorier är kulturspecifika referenser, onomatopoetiska ord och västerländska lånord.Eftersom Abe K?b? är en prisbelönt och internationellt erkänd författare och de rådande översättningsnormerna stipulerar att sådana författare bör översättas källtroget har jag valt att försöka arbeta utifrån en adekvansinriktad (källtrogen) översättningsstrategi.
