Värmeböljorna blir allt vanligare i Sverige vilket kommer kosta sjukvården miljardbelopp. Hur kan denna trend motverkas? Träd kanske inte är hela lösningen på problemet, men är en hjälp på vägen. Det urbana landskapet har idag högre temperatur än omgivande landsbygd. Detta fenomen, den så kallade urbana värmeö-effekten, beror bland annat på att hårdgjorda ytor absorberar solenergi, antropogena källor utsöndrar värme, luftföroreningar fungerar som växthusgaser och bristen av nerkylande vegetation. Dessa faktorer bidrar till en ohållbar temperaturstigning. Kandidatarbetets mål har varit att ta reda på hur träd bidrar till en temperatursänkning inne i städerna och att identifiera urvalskriterier för att välja träd ur temperatursynpunkt som samtidigt fungerar i urbana miljöer.

ABSTRACTGustafsson, J. & Söderqvist, N., ??The Island of Peace in the Sea of War? A newspaper study of Växjö city?s newspaper editorials regarding the conflicts of the Second World War in the Nordic countries?, Linnaeus University. A qualitative textual analysis delving into three local newspapers from Växjö city is in many ways the essence of this study. The main purpose of this study is to examine three key conflicts, the Winter War, Operation Weserübung and the Continuation War. Each conflict has been assessed in relation to the opinions advocated in the editorials of the three politically diverse newspapers.The theoretical basis for this study is founded on similar analysis made by Nybom, Johansson and Åmark who all have contributed to the content of this particular essay.

1 juli 2009 avreglerades det svenska apoteksväsendet från att ha varit statligt ägt. Avregleringen har även lett till att man numera får sälja ett urval av receptfria läkemedel i dagligvaruhandeln. Avreglering av apoteksmarknad har tidigare skett i Norge, Danmark och Island.Syftet med detta examensarbete var att undersöka hur och i vilken omfattning apotekspersonal anser att deras arbetsmiljö har påverkats av omregleringen. För att besvara frågeställningen har tre intervjuer gjorts med personer ur olika personalkategorier på apotek (en apotekschef, en receptarie och en apotekstekniker), och genom utdelning av enkäter till apotek i södra Stockholm. Av 70 utlämnade enkäter insamlades 32 ifyllda från 11 apotek i södra Stockholm.Intervjuerna gav olika utfall.

The purpose of this study is to examine how teenage mother in Iceland, who lives in the capital Reykjavík, perceive their situation. The research questions are:How do teenage mother`s perceive that their lives have changed since they became mothers?Perceive teenage mother some sorts of shame, and if so, in what way?What is the process of teenage mothers to be respected?Qualitative semi structured interviews with 5 girls in the aged of 18-20, is used for analysis in this study. The girls have in common that they have had their child when they were between 15 and 19 years old. The interview were recorded on tape and then it was transcribed.

Finnhamn is a group of Islands that are located in the middle north part of Stockholm?s archipelagos. On the main Island Stora Jolpan there is a camp called Sommargården, which consists of eleven different buildings in various sizes. The assignment given by the Archipelago foundation (Skärgårdsstiftelsen) is to analyze if it?s benefited to replace Sommargårdens current heating system that consists of electricity radiators, with a more energy efficient heating system. This research is done with help of the literature review and a visit to Finnhamn in order to map Sommargården?s current state and its energy usage.

Studier har visat att utrustningsorsakade munhåleskador är vanligt hos svenska rid- och travhästar i träning. Förekomst av utrustningsrelaterade skador på regelbundet ridna Islandshästar finns dock inte beskriven i litteraturen. Inte heller har ett tävlingsmoments eventuella inverkan på munhälsan hos hästar undersökts. Tre olika grupper av Islandshästar i olika rid/träningsstatus har undersökts. Grupp 1 bestod av tävlande hästar som precis avslutat ett tävlingsdeltagande.

The purpose of this study is to highlight the second home sector in Sweden and Denmark, in a comparative study of regulations for the second home market, and residence requirement. Two attractive second home Island destinations is being compared in Ven, Landskrona and Gudhjem, Bornholm. The study addresses issues such as the local effects of a regulation of the second home market get at a local level, and the effects generated by deregulation, as well as local people's opinions about second home regulation in a popular second home area in southern Sweden. This has been examined using a mix between qualitative method and quantitative methods, and the study is based on six semi-structured interviews from informants from Ven, Bornholm, and Gudhjem which has been analyzed throughout a thematic analysis. In addition to the interviews, diagrams from the Central Bureau of Statistics of Sweden and Statistics Denmark, and various real estate websites, and a field observation from Ven and Gudhjem will be presented.The result shows that show that the discussion on residence requirement has been going on for a long time in Sweden and Ven, but the local organizations found more disadvantages than advantages and are now looking in to other solutions, while other locals believes that there are more advantages with a residence requirement. In Denmark it?s revealed that there is recently started discussion between municipal decision-makers and local organizations about the regulations, and if it should be abolished or not.

My goal with this thesis was to investigate how educational material in the subjects of history, geography and social studies relate to the fact that Sweden has a history marked by prejudice and racism.I have chosen to focus on four areas in the Swedish history that I think deserves some special attention, these four areas have been: the Swedish slave trade on the Island of Saint Barthelemy in the eighteenth century, Swedish eugenics and oppression of the Sami people, forced sterilization services during the twentieth century and Sweden's aid and concessions to Nazi Germany during World War II. With these areas in focus I?ve studied three textbooks in the courses Geography A, Civics A and History A to se how they deal with prejudice and racism in the Swedish history.The result I have come to is that none of the books addresses all four of the areas I?ve focused on. Even if the books are taken as a whole the image that they convey is not adequate. In the event that the four areas that I?ve focused on been mentioned the information have been scant and rarely, if ever, has Sweden been paired with phenomenons like racism, slavery, colonialism, eugenics, forced sterilization, etc.

Under de senaste årtiondena har det pågått en förtätning och en alltmer ökad utbyggnad av världens städer. Som en följd av detta har stadens naturliga vatten- och värmebalans rubbats. På bekostnad av vegetativa ytor har artificiella byggmaterial introducerats som absorberar värme från solens strålar och höjer stadens temperaturer. Dessa material leder även snabbt bort regnvatten samt hindrar vatten att infiltreras ner i marken. Temperaturskillnader på 12oC jämfört med den omkringliggande landsbygden har kunnat uppmätas i stora amerikanska städer. Detta fenomen har kommit att kallas Stadens Värmeö eller Urban Heat Island som är den engelska termen. I Sverige förväntas det bli allt högre sommartemperaturer och fler rekordvarma dagar framöver.

Epifytiska lavar utgör en viktig del av floran i den boreala zonen. Några miljövariabler är kända för att styra artrikedomen och artsammansättningen av epifytiska lavar på beståndsnivå, såsom träddiversitet, beståndsålder, fuktighet och trädens barkstruktur. Skogsbränder utgör den viktigaste störningen i boreala skogar men studier på brandeffekter på epifytiska lavar är mycket få. Detta arbete undersökte artrikedomen, diversiteten och artsammansättningen av epifytiska lavar på basala delar av björkar längs en gradient av 30 skogsbeklädda öar som skiljer sig i storlek och brandhistorik i den norra boreala zonen i Sverige. Målet med studien var att undersöka hur lavfloran påverkades av östorleken och miljövariablerna längs gradienten.

The goals have been workedout during the work and has resulted inthat we want to extend the inner city streetand linking Johanneshov with surroundingdistricts, but we also want to create a wellused, diverse, urban area where the humanis in focus and a district that is easy to read.Much of the work is devoted to show howStockholm has developed historical and totry to put the future in a context, but also a lotof work has been put in the information andthe analysis of the site chapter. The plan proposalis still considered to be the work focus.Johanneshov is surrounded by Årsta inthe west, Hammarbyhöjden in the east,Enskede in the south and Södermalm inthe north. Gullmarsplan is a typical 40thcentury area with a functionalist structure.Johanneshov is with Gullmarsplan,the Globe an the Slaughterhousearea, an important node for the southernsuburbs as a place for communication,sports, entertainment and shopping.Today Nynäsvägen divides the area intoa western and an eastern part.

This article seeks to re-imagine the Alandish hembygdsrätt to a regional citizenship. Hembygdsrätt is a judicial tool that regulates acquisition of property and voting rights. Its a central part of the autonomy as it constitutes a social-border between Finns and Alanders.However as Åland and Finland became members of the European Union questions arouse concerning the legitimacy of the current statues. The community argued that it could be considered as a breach of the anti-discrimination principle. Therefore Alandish autonomy was recognized as an exception in the joint-accession treaty of Finland and Åland.

This thesis analyses the Funnel Beaker Culture on the Island of Gotland. Since no comprehensive studies of the remains of the pottery have been made, this is one of the reasons why I chose to study this topic. The purpose of this study is to analyze the pottery and to discuss the chronological and spatial implications. Four sites from the Funnel Beaker Culture on Gotland are studied; Mölner/Gullarve, Gräne, Ardags and Suderkvie. Ceramic samples are analyzed with respect to its ornament and it is discussed if the pottery found at various sites are contemporary.

Close to the city center of Reykjavik lies the combined national- and university library of Iceland. Usually, these two types of institutions are separated. The purpose of this essay is to investigate how the library in fact selects the new digital material to offer the users in Iceland, and if the combined mission creates any problems or conflicts.The investigation examines the planning and the content of the digital library, what user groups are addressed and how the organisation is held together despite the different missions. If cultural context in Iceland makes a difference for what is selected and offered to the users is also discussed.Six informants in strategic library positions dealing with the digital national- or university library, were interviewed. The answers have been analysed in light of the library&information literature on building and maintaining digital library collections and organizational and marketing theory.The main result of the study is that the informants do not see a conflict between the missions of the organisation, although traces of a struggle were found in some areas.

A diet based on a bigger part of locally produced vegetables can contribute to decreasing environmental impact and improved health. In Gotland horticulture has increased more than in Sweden in total during the last 15 years. To investigate possibilities for development of Gotland´s horticulture, the cultivation of potato, vegetables, fruits and berries was mapped through a questionnaire among growers. Interviews and a workshop with growers and reseller were conducted to investigate the interest and prerequisites for growing new crops. In total approximately 2340 hectares of potato, vegetables, fruits and berries were grown in Gotland in 2012.
