This master thesis deals with the looting and destruction of the Iraqi cultural heritage in the wake of the U.S. Invasion of Iraq in April 2003. My ambition is to analyse the narratives conveyed by journalists and intellectuals to see which truths that were established. Using discourse analysis methods, my aim is not to find an objective truth in the matter at hand, but rather to se which truths the writers put into view regarding the question of liability and the seriousness of the looting and destruction. This paper further discusses these truths from the perspectives of imperialism and of Edward Saids thoughts about Orientalism.

The Swedish Armed Forces have gone through a remarkable change. From beingan organisation built on the notion of countering a Soviet Invasion it has evolvedto focusing on small, multilateral rapid reaction capabilities to be used within theframework of the European security and defence policy, ESDP.This thesis regards the change as a process of Europeanisation. Drawing fromsociological and historical institutionalism, it is shown that the Swedish ArmedForces in the post-cold war context was path dependent and unwilling to redefineits historical raison d?être. The origin of the ESDP Europeanised the nationaldefence policy, whereas the bureaucracy was still unwilling to translate the newstructural norms.

Wooded pastures are common in the agricultural landscape in Sweden, often rich in naturaland cultural values. It is not a well confined biotope but consist of a semi-open landscapewith a complex pattern and wide variation of tree and shrub coverage. The values in thewooded pastures have been created through a long history of management.One major threat to wooded pastures is ceasing management. Yearly and intensive grazinghas been demanded for several years in order to receive economical support. At the sametime trees and bushes have often been regarded as vegetal Invasion.

Steroidresponsiv meningit-arterit (SRMA) är en immunmedierad sjukdom som karaktäriseras av steril meningit och arterit i kärlen i meningerna. Det är den vanligaste formen av meningit hos hund. Kännetecknande för sjukdomen är en Invasion av neutrofiler i centrala nervsystemet (CNS) och höga IgA-nivåer både i blod och i cerebrospinalvätska (CSF). Etiologin och patogenesen bakom sjukdomen är relativt okänd. Mycket talar för att en produktion av kemokinen IL-8 i CNS i kombination med ett ökat uttryck av integrinen CD11a är orsaken till att immunsvaret lokaliseras till CNS.

Detta arbete bygger på en kvalitativ studie om den ideella rörelsens betydelse i samhället. Den exemplifierande undersökningen utgår från sju respondenters syn på vad den ideella sektorn, (med utgångspunkt från idrottsrörelsen), bidrar med till samhället. Syftet med studie är att undersöka vilka synsätt det finns på vad den ideella sektorn bidrar med till samhället. Forskning kring området har knappt genomförts innan slutet av 1990-talet men modern forskning påvisar att ideella verksamheter har en stor påverkan på samhället. Med utgångspunkt i den tvärvetenskapliga forskningsansatsen socialt kapital har resultat påvisats att såväl gemenskap, tillit, trygghet samt medborgarskap grott utifrån ideell verksamhet.

The aim of this review is to assess the ethical implications of aquaculture, regarding fish welfare and environmental aspects. The aquaculture industry has grown substantially the last decades, both as a result of the over-fishing of wild fish populations, and because of the increasing consumer demand for fish meat. As the industry is growing, a significant amount of research on the subject is being conducted, monitoring the effects of aquaculture on the environment and on animal welfare. The areas of concern when it comes to animal welfare have here been divided into four different stages: breeding period; growth period; capturing and handling; and slaughter. Besides these stages, this report includes a chapter on the current evidence of fish sentience, since this issue is still being debated among biologists.

Under senare tid har allt fler företag börjat utöva verksamhet där mark nyttjas för olika aktiviteter med stöd av allemansrätten. HD har bedömt att sådant nyttjande; kanalisering, är tillåtet med stöd av allemansrätten, men uttalade i NJA 1996 s. 495 (?Forsränningsmålet?) samtidigt att nyttjandet bara är tillåtet så länge marken inte skadas. Eftersom skadeståndsfrågan aldrig har prövats i samband med allemansrätten har föremålet för denna uppsats varit att utreda möjligheterna att utfå ersättning för skador via allmänna skadeståndsrättsliga regler, skadestånds- och avhjälpandeansvaret i miljöbalken samt för intrång i äganderätten via expropriationslagen och möjligheten att få ersättning ur en försäkring.

Begreppet Counterinsurgency har fått stor uppmärksamhet, speciellt efter NATOs operationer i Afghanistan och Irak. Sedan den svenska Försvarsmakten ingått som medlem i NATO- samarbetet PFP (Partnership for Peace) är även Sverige sedan en tid tillbaka involverade i konflikten i Afghanistan. Mycket av det doktrinära arbetet i länder, involverade i dessa konflikter, har varit inriktat mot irreguljära konflikter och Counterinsurgency-operationer. Stora mängder forskning görs inom ämnet bland annat av den franska COIN-teoretikern David Galula. Galula utkom 1964 med sin bok Counterinsurgency Warfare: Theory and Practice, och är internationellt erkänd som ett av de stora namnen inom COIN-teorin.Den sovjetiska Invasionen av Afghanistan är en av modern tids största militära operationer.

In the wrong hands that information can become a threat against the security of an individual, a company or even a nation.

This study takes its starting point in ongoing changes and differences in the global power dynamics. The liberal rules-based world order that has been acknowledged for governing the world with the US as the hegemon of power has been strongly challenged during the last decades. Russia?s Invasion of Ukraine can be seen as an example of ongoing changes in the world order, with Russia as a challenger to the US as the hegemon of power. The changes and instability that this has led to for Sweden's national security situation can be seen as a concrete example of how ongoing changes in the world order affect Sweden?s foreign policy.

Underrättelsetjänsten har alltid haft som sin  viktigaste uppgift att agera som varningsklocka för hot mot landet för vilket den existerar. Under det kalla kriget var det största hotet mot Sverige en Invasion och ett tredje världskrig. I och med murens fall och slutet på det kalla kriget ändrades hoten snabbt. Idag så finns inte längre någon tydlig hotbild mot Sverige men den ökade globaliseringen och det informationsberoende samhället skapar nya hot mot oss. En regional konflikt kan ha globala konsekvenser, och där med även beröra Sverige.I arbetet ställer sig författaren frågan hur den svenska underrättelsetjänsten har förändrats med den förändrade hotbilden och om underrättelsetjänsten är anpassad till de nya krav som ställs på den.

The possibility to protect oneself against attacks from the outside becomes increasingly difficult.

The word crisis is often used in everyday language, but according to political theory it actually refers to a crisis situation within a country where national interests suddenly are at stake demanding that important and complex decisions must be made within certain time constraints. These decisions can in turn lead up to most fatal consequences. USA, being one of the world's superpowers is most certainly involved in crisis situations directly or indirectly, frequently or more seldom. Amounts of people get suddenly involved and even more people can be drawn in by the decisions that are made thereby. Research has shown that the character of a leader affects decision-making.

Inside the south Swedish national park Dalby Söderskog, wild boars (Sus scrofa L.) have been visiting since 2010. The presence of wild boars has earlier been proven to impact both soil and vegetation characteristics, both positively and negatively. Still, there is a lack of knowledge regarding the rooting effect on the vegetation in deciduous forest within the native range. In this study, I have compared the field vegetation collected before and after the Invasion of wild boars in 74 permanent experimental plots. More specifically, the study aimed to qualify the effect of wild boar rooting on cover ratio, species richness and species composition in a temperate deciduous forest.
