The aim and purpose of this paper is to identify and investigate the effects of affirmative action as a tool to improve the equality of the sexes in a male dominated organisation such as the Swedish armed forces. The study takes a qualitative approach, using feminist theory as a point of departure. Primarily socially based differences between men and women are identified and the resistance towards change is taken into account.To understand the impact of affirmative action I have observed the political debate on the subject and contrasted it to the ongoing debate from within the armed forces. Extensive interviews have been held with both men and women from varying ranks and ages to understand what the overall opinion of the method is.My results show that there is a widespread animosity towards affirmative action as a method of improving equality. Both in the political debate and within the organisation in question.

The Swedish public inquiries and most of the political science advocate reforms in the spirit of participatory democracy to strengthen the democracy. Although it is striking how limited and narrow the scientific documentation is in analysing the effects of participatory democratic reforms. Still, many of the local governments in Sweden are reshaping their organisations according to the participatory democracy model. Is it a trend and a symbolic action or a veritable action of good-will of the politicians?The paper argues that the idea of participatory democracy has become popular and widely spread.

Syftet med denna studie har varit att lyfta fram utklädningskläder som pedagogiskt material i förskolan. Studien är av kvalitativ karaktär och består av fallstudier från tre förskolor med olika pedagogisk inriktning. Genom intervjuer med förskollärare och barn samt observationer av barns lek har vi undersökt vilken funktion olika utklädningskläder kan ha för barn i förskolan. Vi har även undersökt på vilket sätt placering och utbud av utklädningskläder kan påverka barns användande av dem. Med hjälp av ett posthumanistiskt perspektiv och begreppen agens och intra-aktivitet har vi sett hur utklädningskläder fått liv och gjort saker med barnen.

The purpose of this thesis is to analyze the design and function of an engine production management?s control system and its intended function, and to contrast it with the present management control systems in use on an operational level. Interviews conducted with employees from all levels of the engine production are the main source of this study?s empirical foundation. Information has also been gathered from relevant written material such as annual reports, internal documents etc.

This study is mostly based on previous research, which includes Sub-national actor?s attitudes and regional action towards the European Union. The purpose of the study is to investigate if four Swedish municipalities in Värmland operate internationally towards the European Union and deepen an understanding of their actions. The purpose of this essay is to identify how violence against women is understood in the government's policy action plan called Handlingsplan för att bekämpa mäns våld mot kvinnor, hedersrelaterat våld och förtryck samt våld i samkönade relationer. The main issue that the study is based on, is whether there is a feminist gendered understanding that permeates the action plan. To examine this, I have formulated two more specific questions:     - What is considered to be the main problem of men's violence against women?     - What is considered to be the reasons for men's violence against women?    The empirical material of the study consists of the government's action plan. With the help of Carol Bacchis discourse analytical approach "What's the problem approach", important patterns in the material have been detected.

Environmental management systems are a way of systematizing and streamlining an organization's environmental efforts. Within its EMS the organization determines it´s environmental policy and various environmental objectives. In order to achieve their environmental objectives the organization produces action plans that describe how they will work towards the objectives. Stora Enso Skog AB´s districts have been assigned to produce action plans for the company´s environmental objective of 90 % approved everyday nature consideration in final felling and any targets included within this objective. The purpose of this study was to investigate how the districts work with these action plans and how this could be improved.

Syftet med studien är att undersöka hur flickor och pojkar framträder i förskolans pedagogiska dokumentation samt hur dessa könspositioner kan framträda på andra sätt när bilderna samläses med posthumanistiska teorier och begrepp. Diskursiva och diffraktiva analyser har genomförts på några förskolors pedagogiska dokumentationer utifrån frågeställningar om vilka diskurser om kön som materialiseras i bildmaterialet samt hur posthumanistiska begrepp kan bidra till en annan förståelse för barnens könspositionering.I linje med tidigare forskning på området visar studien att aktivitet och lärande ges en mer framträdande roll i den pedagogiska dokumentationen än omsorg och lek. Posthumanistiska teoribildningar möjliggör dock läsningar där fokus skiftar från flickors och pojkars olika sätt att positionera sig/positioneras som exempelvis maskulint aktiva eller feminint omsorgsfulla till att handla om de intra-aktioner som uppstår mellan barn, material och diskurser. Sådana läsningar öppnar för tillblivelser där individer omfattar både manliga och kvinnliga positioner, där kön följaktligen blir ointressant som kategoriseringsprincip..

This paper is a discourse analytic policy study with the intention to investigate the swedish government's policy action plan against prostitution and trafficking for sexual purposes. The document is called Handlingsplan mot prostitution och människohandel för sexuella ändamål. The purpose of the study is to investigate whether there is a feminist gender understanding taking place in the action plan. This is made by both see how the problem of prostitution is produced partly by examining whether there is a gender-based power analysis in action. The research questions of this study are:What is considered being the problem with prostitution and trafficking fosexual purposes?Is there a feminist gender understandning in the government's prostitution politics?To answer these questions I use Carol Bacchis method Whats the problem represented to be? And the material being used is the government's actionplan.

The law which makes the purchase, or the attempt to purchase, temporary sexual services a criminal offence has been implemented in Sweden for more than six years. It appears as if very few, possibly no, sex-selling women have used the law to report men who have bought their services during these years. How can this be understood? With this thesis I suggest a new way of thinking on agency. A way which questions the traditional view on action whereby agency equals to act in certain, predefined ways.
