Place as a concept, and memory as a phenomenon is researched through literature studies. The essay investigates how we think about place and how we experience and relate to it. Memory is discussed both as personal memory and collective memory. Place is a strong source of memory. When we return to a place, we recognize not only the place itself, but also the things we did there, the people we met and the thoughts passing through our mind when we last were there. Pieces of ourselves are stored in the memories awaken when we revisit a place.

This bachelor thesis summarises the history of ?Jämtgården? based on literature research andempirical documentation. Jämtgården is a typical 1800th century duplex timber buildingoriginating from the province of Jämtland. However, it was moved to Västernorrlandslänsmuseum in Härnösand in the year of 1918. During the 1920's the museum decided tofocus on the region of Västernorrland and therefore Jämtgården was somewhat left behind.The building's interior walls are decorated with distemper paintings but the current conditionis poor.The aim of this thesis is primarily to compile knowledge about the building and its interiordecorations as well as finding out whether primary distemper paintings, from the periodbefore the relocation, remain on the walls.

This master thesis in library- and information science is about the intermediary function of the library room from an environment-psychological point of view. Young people are a group in society who often reduce their visits to the library when growing up. There are lots of reasons for this maybe more attractive activities occur outside the library doors, making the young choose not to use the library. But if the library interior is attractive in itself, and has a welcoming atmosphere, there might be a change and the young people may well choose to pay the library a visit. What is important to young people how do they want their library room to look? Our purpose is to see how the physical environment affects young people in libraries.

The purpose of this work is to develop and test a design process where quick decisions and model building has a prominent role. The goal is to develop a number of products and build prototypes to be shown during the Carl Malmsten Furniture Studies spring exhibition 2012. I?m also writing a report describing my work.To reach my goal I have each day during the first phase conducted a short research and found a concept based on that days name day. Enköping?s Rugby Club has long lacked a bigger hall to gather their members in, where they can meet and socializes outside trainings and games. Since my experience is that teachers in singing hardly ever talk about when to sing a tone, I have chosen to examine this fact through interviews and earlier research in this matter. The interviewed singing teachers belong to different genres (classical music, pop/rock, jazz and folk music). I asked them to share their thoughts about the word timing, when it comes to music. I also wanted to know if they have any methods when it comes to teaching students to improve their timing. Further on, I have been discussing the results and the literature in order to make clear in what way singing teachers give priority to when a tone is being sung.

Syftet med denna uppsats är att framförallt analysera de kvinnliga karaktärerna i Lord of the Rings ur ett genusperspektiv och att höja medvetandet om dessa karaktärers roll i filmerna. The purpose of this paper is to clarify and understand the difference between Brunius?, Zettervall's and Graebe's valueing of a historical building, the cathedral of Lund. Between 1833 and 1963 the cathedral of Lund went through three larger restorations. The character of the restorations however differs a lot between the three church architects, Brunius, Zettervall and Graebe. In a time of low interest for the Middle Ages and of many demolitions of churches in the countryside, Brunius stood out as a researcher and an enthusiast of that special time.

Denna uppsats behandlar en algoritm som löser linjära optimeringsproblem. Algoritmen bygger på en liknande idé som simplexalgoritmen men i denna kan startvärdet även vara en punkt inom tillåtet område eller på randen till detta område. Det behöver inte nödvändigtvis vara en hörnpunkt, vilket simplexalgoritmen kräver. Under algoritmens gång kommer iterationsvärdena att ligga på randen till det tillåtna området för att slutligen hamna i ett hörn. Därefter går iterationsvärdena från hörn till hörn tills slutligen optimum har nåtts.

Utgångspunkten för den pjäs som utgör en del av mitt magisterarbete är från första början egentligen en grundläggande socialpsykologisk iakttagelse. Det rör sig om det inte ovanliga (såvida jag inte fått allt om bakfoten) mänskliga draget att säga en sak och göra en annan, ett drag som tycks gälla mer som regel än undantag åtminstone på teatern. Jag utgår från att de ord som sägs alltid har en avsikt och en riktning, medveten eller omedveten. En person vill något med det den säger. Däremot är avsikten med de uttalade orden inte alltid densamma som den orden först låter oss tro.

För att skriva den här uppsatsen gjorde jag en intervjustudie med ungdomar i musikskolan som spelat i några år. Syftet med uppsatsen var att undersöka ungdomarnas val att fortsätta med instrumentalstudier efter de första åren. Intervjuerna gjordes på en musikskola och bestod av både enskilda intervjuer samt av gruppintervjuer. Ungdomarna berättade om varför de fortsätter med instrumentalstudier. Resultatet av studien visar att ungdomarnas motiv att fortsätta att spela i musikskolan efter de första åren är både sociala och musikaliska.

The aim of the thesis is to study young peoples, defined as boys and girls between 14 and 16 years old, attitudes to library in two municipalities. Notwithstanding the fact that young people, and children, often is given priority in library work, the reality often seems to be another. Attitudes are founded primarily in childhood and therefore it is of great importance to examine how young people regard libraries. Besides studying former research about young people and libraries that has been performed on library and information science, we also have been using concepts and theories from social science. We give a brief outline of youth research and its development and look at official records and legislation to see if and in what context young people are mentioned.
