A lot of research has been done about how omitting breakfast affects adolescents and their short time cognition. Cognition is complex as a concept and is measured in different ways and the existing research in the area often compares different types of breakfasts instead of the difference between eating and omitting breakfast.Objective: To evaluate the scientific evidence for an association between adolescents? breakfast eating and short time effects on cognition in adolescents.Search strategy: To find relevant articles a systematic literature search was made in the databases PubMed, Scopus and Cochrane. Search terms that were used were: children, young adults, adolescents, cognition, and breakfastSelection criteria: Ages 12-20 years, measures cognition, RCT, studies comparing breakfast eating with omitting breakfast, human studies, language English or Swedish, no sick adolescents or adolescents with diagnosis.Data collection and analysis: Two original articles met the inclusion criteria and were reviewed by the SBU audit template for RCT studies.

Assessment of hearing aids can be done by inventories. The result of the inventories can show the patients need and how the hearing aids works in the patients daily life. The result of the inventories can be influenced by the difference in languages and the cultures. The inventory IOI-HA should not be sensitive to those factors.The aim of this study was to compare and analyse material, method and to report and analyse the result from a pilot study made at Sahlgrenska University.The result showed that IOI-HA is a natural inventory which is able to be used internationally. The four studies in England, USA, the Netherlands, and Germany showed that the psychometric properties are similar across languages and cultures.

The current paper is a study of the character Christian Grey in the EL James trilogy Fifty Shades of Grey. The main aim is to find out how masculinity, sexuality and gender are constructed in this erotic fantasy. More over terms as femininity, unmanliness and gender have relevance to the study. Several studies have been done on romance novels and Harlequin in particular from a gender perspective, but few of them from a masculine point of view. Hence, no earlier study has been done on Fifty Shades of Grey with masculinity studies as the main tool of masculinity, or with theories of romance.

The aim of this review is to evaluate the best way to transport the horse. When it comes to transporting horses there are a number of different types of trailers and trucks that you can choose from today. The most common type of trailer is designed for two horses and the horses are transported facing the direction of travel. Studies has been performed to determine if that is the most advantageous direction for the horse to travel in, in terms of balance and levels of stress. Stress is a widely discussed subject and the definition is not fully developed.

It would be most profitable if there was a way to prevent the emergence of allergies, both regarding the community and the individual. The antiinflammatory property of omega-3 influences the immune system and is thought to have a preventive effect on allergic symptoms. To investigate whether the mothers intake of omega-3 during pregnancy and lactation affects the child?s future development of allergy is therefore of high interest.Objective To examine if omega-3 supplement given to mothers during pregnancy, or pregnancy and lactation, is shown to be beneficial in children with heredity to develop allergy.Search strategy Articles were collected from the data bases PubMed, Cochrane and Scopus.

In Sweden we have the highest rate of nontraditional students among Europe. Coincidently, we also have the highest rates of drop outs among OECD. In this particular field, drop out from higher education, there is a need fore more qualitative studies that can support the "statistics". Studies about experiences of drop outs are significant for society, university and individual. The aim of this study is to describe and understand how nontraditional student experiences drop out from higher education.

I denna studie undersöks deltagarnas handlingar och mål i ett IT och lärandeexperiment. Experimentet är inspirerat av en undersökning gjord av Schnotz, Böckheler och Grzondziel (1999) med tyska studenter. I den undersökningen undersöks bland annat effekterna av lärande i par med hjälp avstatiska bilder kontra tillgång till interaktiva animerade bilder. Detta görs genom att testa deltagarnas kunskaper före och efter en lärandeperiod där en grupp haft tillgång till statiska bilder och en annan haft tillgång till interaktiva animerade bilder (simuleringar). Ämnet är tidszoner och tidsskillnader samt tiden vid jordenruntresor.

This thesis describes the new construction of a small house and it includes studies of three heating systems: geothermal heating, district heating and pellet. The purpose of this thesis is to project a small house which can manage Building Regulations, BBR conditions and then examine three possible heating systems for the small house. This thesis is a literature study which gives an understanding of the heating systems technical structure, properties and costs. An empirical study completes the literature study by giving a deeper understanding of district heating costs and pellet costs. The empirical study contains two interviews, one of which was conducted in a district heating corporation and the other interview was conducted in a pellet corporation.

Problemet med övergödning har länge varit uppmärksammat i Sverige. De åtgärder som har satts in för att minska problemet har inte fungerat tillfredsställande och därför är det extra viktigt att följa upp och utvärdera målet Ingen övergödning. En central del i arbetet med miljömålen är utvärdering och uppföljning, som görs för att bedöma om vi närmar oss de uppsatta miljömålen. I det svenska miljömålsarbetet har så kallade miljöindikatorer fått en betydande roll. De fungerar som ett verktyg för att operationalisera, implementera, följa upp och utvärdera hållbar utveckling.

This thesis contains a wider discussion on the analytical framework of classstudies in political science. The purpose is to put class into the light of a usefulmethodological and theoretical tool when it comes to studies on inequality and political,as well as scientific approaches and explanations to why people have awide range of differences in how they pursue their lives. It is my ambition to discusshow class relations can be theorized and explained within a given context, aswell as in society as a whole. I see the complexity of this field as a resource to enhancethe epistemological as well as the empirical discussions within the politicalscience scholars..

This essay explores to what extent the Swedish language version of Google Images meets the usability requirements of average everyday users. Previously published studies on user behaviour and users? interface and search option preferences define the usability requirements, which are matched against Google Images? actual interface and search options. The retrieval method of Google Images is also briefly discussed, and users? opinions about Google Images too, as they come across in the previously published user studies.The findings are that Google Images lack some of the things that users ask for, but it still seems to be the most used image search engine among average internet users and more appreciated than other search engines.

This study is based on interviews with six students from Stockholm that have shared their feelings/opinions about how they experience their identity as a student. The aim of this master?s thesis is to examine how the identity of students is constructed but also how the post modern society affects the life that the students are living. With a higher demand on education and responsibility of making the right decisions, the student?s main concern is not only her studies, but also the goal to succeed in her life.

Till att börja med var miljömedvetandet inte särskilt utbrett, varken i Sverige eller i andra delar av världen. Kunskapen om att människans aktiviteter kan ha en negativ påverkan på naturen och att naturen har gränser för hur mycket den tål är något som har växt fram under årens lopp. En hel del började hända på det här området inte minst under 1960- och 70-talen. I takt med att hänsynen till miljön fått en allt större roll i vårt samhälle har det gett ringar på vattnet även hos de svenska företagen och deras produktion. I den här studien studeras hur ALSTOM Power Sweden AB har utvecklats inom sex olika ämnesområden, med början kring 1950-talet.

Upphandlingsförfarandet är inte någon enkel sak, en upphandling måste följa både svensk lagstiftning och EG-rätten, vilket gör det hela till en relativt invecklad process. De grundläggande principer som utgör lagstiftningen bygger på en vilja att all upphandling ska ske på marknadens villkor och att det är på så sätt de mest optimala förutsättningarna ges. På senare år när principen om en hållbar utveckling fått en allt högre prioritet inom Sverige och Europa har det blivit aktuellt att ställa miljökrav i samband med offentliga upphandlingar, något som inte är helt okomplicerat. Hos flera aktörer i samhället går meningarna isär om vilka miljökrav som faktiskt kan ställas vid offentlig upphandling, utan att bryta mot lagstiftningen. Det finns många faktorer som kan vara en bidragande faktor till att miljökrav inte ställs vid upphandlingar, till exempel ekonomi, tid, ledning och organisation för att nämna några.

When building a house or similar the stress on the ground increases and deformations can arise. The deformations create a foundation that the building is not constructed for and damages on the building arise. The increased stress on the ground can be derived back to the building, but it is possible that the increased stress may well derive from different sources such as other buildings or trees.       The building is an older property, built in the late 19th century alternatively early 20th century, and is today used for rental housing and has suffered severe damages due to subsidence. The goal of the thesis is to find possible causes for these subsidences. The thesis was executed as a combination between literature- and casestudie. After careful studies it has been found that a probable cause for these subsidences is trees. Through field- and lab studies it has been found that the trees has effected the ground through there accumulation of water.
