Ett mönster är uppbyggt av ett motiv som upprepas. Denna upprepning kan fortsätta i all oändlighet. Hållbar antyder långsiktighet. Mönstrets övergripande egenskap är oändlighet. Hur kan denna egenskap hos mönstret nyttjas inom mönsterdesign för att främja hållbar utveckling? Det här kandidatarbetet undersöker mönsterdesignens möjlighet att verka för hållbar utveckling genom att se till begreppet mönster ur ett bredare perspektiv, samt i relation till design för hållbar utveckling.

Inom queerteorin och den intersektionella forskningen söker forskning påvisa de normsystem som verkar inom olika diskurser. Genom en normkritisk analysmetod som bygger på queerteori och intersektionalitet och med stöd av den kritiska diskursanalysens perspektiv undersöker denna uppsats hur sexualitet och könsidentitet framställs i läroböcker för samhällskunskapens a-kurs på gymnasiet. Problemformuleringen bygger vidare på Skolverkets omfattande studie från 2006 och resultaten jämförs med Skolverkets resultat, för att se om det skett någon förändring i beskrivningen. Resultatet i föreliggande studie visar på en viss förskjutning till ett mer inkluderande och synliggörande förhållningssätt i några av de studerade läroböckerna men att främst transperspektivet och ett mer genomgående normkritiskt perspektiv ännu saknas i läroböckerna. Genom detta resultat påvisas att de intentioner som finns i de styrdokument som reglerar skolans verksamhet inte är helt genomförda i de studerade läroböckerna.

In this work a new design for S:t Erik?s square in Uppsala is being proposed. The square is situated in the middle of the city, surrounded by historical buildings. Today the square is a parking lot. The aim of the design proposal is to promote life and activity of pedestrians and cyclists.

E-commerce is becoming more common in Sweden and many Swedes buy clothing and sporting goods online. Online fashion retailers offer a visually pleasing range of products, which places greater emphasis on the aesthetic design of the online retailer. This paper examines how the perceived credibility of an online fashion retailer is influenced by the aesthetic design through a first impression. This study was conducted through ten interviews where the informants observed, assessed, and then discussed the online fashion retailers that were used in this study. Results show that recognition of an aesthetic design and a perception of usability and professionalism affects the perceived credibility in a positive way.

When different type of programs are developed one wants to make these adjustable to future changes and requirements. It must be done a good design of the program from the beginning to make it possible to continue development of it without having to redo big parts of it to high costs. In the area of object orientation there are design pattern, which can be used to design systems that can be adjusted to new changes in an easier way. I have in this thesis chosen to take a closer look at how to design a program that sends SMS to cell phones through a system of an operator. One requirement on the program is that it has to be possible to change what operator to send though in an easy way.

Kravet på att kunna läsa och skriva är stort, både i skolan och i samhället i övrigt. Att lära sig läsa och skriva är en komplicerad process som upplevs mer eller mindre svår när vi tillägnar oss färdigheten. För en del människor förblir det svårt med skriftspråket. Från vetenskapligt håll är synen olika på vad svårigheten egentligen utgörs av. Ligger hindret hos en person eller i relationen med dennes omgivning? Jag har intresserat mig för vilken vetenskaplig syn en offentliga diskurs bygger på.

This is a bachelor thesis that studies and discuss the question: How can we develop our individual narrative technique with sound design in a Swedish drama production? We have done research and empirical studies. We have analyzed movies to get an idea how we use the sound design in Swedish drama productions today. This degree project is a realization of a strategy for collaboration between an industrial designer and employed workmen of a producing company. The collaboration aims to engage everyone involved in the co-authorship of a products design and manufacturing history. The realization has taken place in an open dialogue where the designer no longer owns the design process by himself. The project has been carried out in cooperation with the company Iris Hantverk. This is a study of how emotional engagement can be measured and be taken into account in the development of websites. We believe that emotions become relevant only when viewed in correlation to how users experiencing a webpage. In this study, we developed a tool for use together with user tests where the information about the user's emotional engagement can add new value to the evaluation. The tool allows the user to mark, on the website, his/her emotions and level of engagement represented by colored circles, generating quantiative data on how users feel about the website. The tool is part of a method for evaluating the emotional engagement that we have developed which consists of user testing supported by the tool and accompanied by interviews..

The purpose of this master thesis has been to find different solutions to the design of a headlamp with a cluster of three or possibly four high power LEDs (Light Emitting Diodes). During the work, two different problems have been considered; how to design a lens in order to shape the light beam in a desirable way, and how to design a cooling system which will lower the temperature of the LEDs as efficiently as possible, still taking into account the geometry set by the optical solution as well as other given geometries.
