I have been inspired by the Do It Yourself movement. DIY builds on the creativity of the individual, one?s capacity for Initiative and one?s desire to realise one?s ideas. I have been inspired by sheets of pattern paper used in the manufacture of clothing, and my line of furniture is based on two-dimensional patterns of furniture. The sections of the pieces of furniture are printed on and relate to a standard sheet of plywood.

Problem formulation: The awareness and importance of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is growing within both corporations and society at large. The corporate progress in sustainable development can be both profitable and essential for the potential to compete globally. The value of sustainability reporting may differ between industries and companies of different sizes. The demands for sustainability reports are expected to increase. By 2010, no previous survey on sustainability reporting practices had been conducted within Swedish corporations. Purpose: The aim of the current study was to examine sustainability reports within Swedish corporations during 2010 and to compare the findings with preceding surveys to determine differences over time and between corporations.

An explorative study on the work motivation of employees at a retirement home. The three main factors are internal motivation, external motivation and control. A comparison between how important they estimate the different factors to be and how they experience them today reveals which factor is their key motivator and which areas that need improvement. Results indicat that internal and external motivation are slightly more important than control. And the amount of perceived control reflects the amount of creative and Initiative behaviour of the individual.

Bakgrund och problem: I samband med en tilltagande miljöförstöring har intresset förhållbarhetsarbete ökat. Detta har skapat press på företagen att redovisa miljöpåverkan ochutveckla hållbarhetsarbetet. Två industrier som är kritiserade för sin omfattandemiljöförstöring är gruv- respektive modeindustrin vars påverkan drabbar såväl natur sommänniskor och djur. Hur den konstaterade miljöpåverkan redovisas och eventuella skillnadermellan de två (helt) olika industrierna ligger till grund för den fortsatta studien.Syfte: Syftet med denna uppsats är att mer ingående undersöka redovisningen avmiljöindikatorer. Fokus riktas på omfattning och skillnader samt utveckling över enfemårsperiod mellan företag verksamma inom den svenska gruv- respektive modeindustrinsom redovisar sitt hållbarhetsarbete utifrån Global Reporting Initiative (GRI).Avgränsning: Studien är avgränsad till att endast behandla den miljöpåverkan de valdaföretagen har, ansvaret för de sociala och ekonomiska områdena har således bortsetts.Metod: Studien omfattar en kvalitativ innehållsanalys av hållbarhetsredovisningar för åren2009 till 2013 för sex utvalda företag, tre från vardera industri.

The purpose of this survey was to discern possible similarities and difference between how teachers in preschool and pre-class respond to children?s own Initiative out of a power perspective. The results of this study is collect by observations that we have done in free and planned activity in both preschool and pre-class as well as a few interviews with some of the teachers. The results have shown that teacher?s responses to children?s own Initiatives in preschool and pre-class to most part is similar, despite the difference in their commission.

In this paper we examine the possibilities to develop the population based research in Sweden by using technological advancements. The problem that exists with population based research today is that there is a contrast between conducting important research on one side and preserving the individuals? integrity on the other. To examine this problem we are studying two projects that are active in this area. The two projects are SIMSAM (Swedish Initiative for research on Microdata in the Social and Medical Sciences) and DDB (Demografiska databasen).

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to study how libraries handle metadata in institutional repositories. The methodology of the study is semi-structured interviews with librarians from all Swedish libraries that currently use the institutional repository system DSpace. Metadata schemes from the different libraries have also been studied. As analytical tools the study uses the user tasks presented in Functional Requirement for Bibliographic Records, as well as a study of metadata quality made by Jung-Ran Park. The study shows a rather big difference between the ways the libraries use institutional repositories.

För företagen handlar det förutom att upprätthålla sitt varumärke och ett gott rykte också om att kontrollera risker och på så sätt skapa förutsättningar för bättre lönsamhet. Allt fler företag har upptäckt att det finns affärsmässiga fördelar med att ta ett aktivt socialt ansvar. (Svensk handels importhandbok 2009). Något som bidragit till att efterfrågan för redovisad miljöredovisning ökat.

The purpose of this essay has been to investigate the research and national Initiatives regarding film and Cineliteracy in the Swedish curriculum.The results show that, after all research, national Initiatives and the continual clarification from the Swedish National Agency for Education concerning film's place in the Swedish subject, the vision of students cineliteracy not at all obtain an obvious place in the curriculum.The research points out the main causes behind this result to be teachers' lack of expertise and the fact that the formal education for future teachers in the subject still upholds traditional views on the subject of Swedish.The Initiative presented in this essay also show lack of continuity, lack of adequate professional development opportunities for teachers and lack of practical guidance manuals to help teachers to develop and educate their pupils in line with current research and visions. .

The aim of this thesis is to investigate the reason behind thedecision to open libraries at subway stations in Stockholm.The theoretical framework for the study is Douglas Raber´s threeideologies, social activism, conservative response and populistInitiative. The study includes interviews with librarians and apolitician responsible for the service and documents with plansfor the Public Libraries development during the period. Theempirical material was examined with an idea- and ideologicalanalysis.The conclusion is that the concept of the subway libraries consistsof a combination of the three ideologies but the most evidentare those of populist Initiative and social activism.The reason for opening libraries at subway stations is to makethe libraries more easily accessible, to attract new visitors and tomake the Public Libraries service more visible. These smalllibraries have a function as a market place for the Public Librariesand as a meeting place in the city..

Within the subject of retouching there is an ongoing debate about whether fashion retailers should retouch their ads or not. There has been a large amount of criticism to the communication of stereotyped beauty ideals that is used by companies in their marketing. The stereotyped ideals also contribute to negative psychological effects among people. As a response to the criticism, or as a way to differentiate one-self from competitors, retailers are starting to use unretouched models in their advertising. How this affects the consumer's perception of CSR along with the attitudes and behaviors is still unknown.

The aim of this masters thesis, based on discourse analysis and organization theory, is to study how individuals in different Swedish cultural organizations- and agencys are working with disaster preparedness.The purpose of this is to examine whether organizational structures affect different persons work, cooperation and practical application concerning disaster preparedness in collaboration with both external and internal organizations.The research shows that disaster preparedness are affected by priority issues as well as financial resources causing consequences for future work concerning this kind of issues.Another problem which is also examined and discussed in this thesis are the problematic approach to personal Initiative which today is the leading operation for the organizations to deal with disaster preparedness instead of creating professional titles for the persons handles these complex issues..

I dagens samhälle där vi förbrukar allt mer resurser har frågorna om hur vi ska göra för att få en hållbar utveckling blivit allt viktigare. Det finns ett stort intresse för dessa frågor och många ställer krav på företagen att ta ansvar för sin påverkan på samhället och att arbeta för en hållbar utveckling. Detta har lett till att många företag idag arbetar med och även redovisar hur de arbetar med ansvars- och hållbarhetsfrågor.  Regeringen har ställt kravet att alla statliga bolag från och med räkenskapsåret 2008 ska upprätta en hållbarhetsredovisning enligt Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). GRI är ett ramverk för hållbarhetsredovisning som kan användas som ett verktyg för att redovisa, utveckla och styra hålllbarhetsarbetet med. Syftet med denna studie är att undersöka om företag använder GRI som ett verktyg för att förbättra hållbarhetsarbetet samt hur företagen använder det.

This study describes how a larger investment by a private company in the northern interior can affect a municipality?s economy. The mobility to the municipality is expected to increase and some of the direct and indirect effects that this investment can implicate on their economy are discussed. The method for this study is qualitative. Interviews have been made with the Initiative owner of the company LHG Learning Center and with civil servants in the municipality of Lycksele. The conclusions drawn in this study are that the establishment of LHG Learning Centers in Lycksele will include both opportunities and risks for the municipality?s future.
