The purpose of this study is to examine the information seeking behaviour among unestablished archaeologists. Special attention has been directed to the areas of informal communication and the development of personal networks. As a former archaeology student I have been able to apply my previously acquired knowledge when writing this thesis. The empirical study is based on nine interviews with archaeologists each with more than one and less than four years of professional experience. They all have various experience of working as a fieldarchaeologist and five have simultaneously worked as university researchers.

This thesis deals with one of the main questions within information science: The question about controlled and uncontrolled vocabulary and which of the two that are most effective when it comes to retrieve relevant information from electronic databases. The method used here is literature studies. I have described and examined five empirical studies which has been done in purpose to compare the effectiveness in retrieval with controlled and uncontrolled vocabulary, in the way they are used in retrieval of information in databases. The studies I have examined have also used recall and precision as a value to measure the effectiveness of retrieval. The studies which I have chosen is also limited to deal only with studies that have been done in bibliographic databases.

The purpose of this study is to examine how adult students, studying at an upper secondary school for adults, search for information for their independent tasks in different subjects. These independent tasks are frequent in most subjects and are a part of the ?investigation-work?. For most adult students this is a new way of learning. Fifteen qualitative interviews with adult students have been conducted.

Denna studie observerade 30 inspelade polisintervjuer och undersökte om informationsmängden och informationstypen som brottsoffer och misstänkta lämnade under en polisintervju påverkades av intervjustilen. Underliggande variabler som konstituerar humanitet respektive dominans, respekt respektive ångest undersöktes. Oberoende t-test visade att brottsoffer i jämförelse med misstänkta dels lämnade signifikant mer total mängd information, dels signifikant mer mängd information av typerna när, hur, tid och varför. En tvåvägs Anova visade en signifikant huvudeffekt för mängden genererad information vid en undersökning av två av de underliggande variabler som konstituerar respekt: Den hörde berättar spontant & flödigt om händelsen, tillmötesgående & samarbetsvillig; Den hörde uttrycker sorg med eventuell gråt men berättar/svarar flödigt på frågor. This master thesis deals with events, dynamics and problems of mediated information seeking within the context of a new information service called "Book a librarian". The study, based on a survey and interviews both in academic and public libraries and participant observations in academic libraries, has its theoretical base in the cognitive theory of information retrieval interaction. The cognitive view is used to throw light upon the need of an ongoing dialogue during the session in order to detect the information needs of the user and to conduct a successful retrieval of information. The communicative interaction is seen as threepart interaction between the intermediary, the user and the information system, where the current cognitive states of all three participants are involved. The study shows that the cognitive obstacles for a successful mediation and information retrieval are mostly connected to participants current knowledge of the subject and of the retrieval techniques.

Bakgrund: Cirka 30 000 personer insjuknar i hjärtinfarkt i Sverige årligen och det är den största folksjukdomen. Hjärtinfarkt är inte bara ett akut tillstånd, utan även en kronisk sjukdom. Vid insjuknande är det därför viktigt att personerna får information för att förstå sitt tillstånd.Syfte: Syftet med studien var att belysa personers upplevelse av information given av sjukvårdspersonal efter att ha insjuknat i hjärtinfarkt.Metod: Studien gjordes som en litteraturstudie med kvalitativ ansats där nio vetenskapliga artiklar ligger till grund för studiens resultat. Analysen utfördes enligt Graneheim och Lundman.Resultat: Analysen resulterade i upplevelserna: personerna fick information på varierande sätt från sjukvårdspersonalen, Informationen gav stöd och trygghet och Saknar tillräcklig information.Slutsats: Personer som insjuknat i hjärtinfarkt upplever att de får bristande information om sitt hälsotillstånd och livet efter. Därför är det viktigt att sjukvårdspersonalen ger information anpassad efter individens förutsättningar.

The first aim of this study is to examine what the differences are between the Classic directive (directive 2004/18/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 31 March 2004 on the coordination of procedures for the award of public works contracts, public supply contracts and public service contracts) and the Revised Classic directive (directive 2014/24/EU of the European Parliament and of the council of 26 February 2014 on public procurement and repealing Directive 2004/18/EC) when it comes to social considerations in public procurement. The second aim is to examine if the revision of the directive has solved the prior existing problems regarding social considerations in public procurement. In this paper a traditional European legal method is used. The examinations show a number of things, including the Revised Classic directive involving codification of case law, references to other sources of law and some clarified rules as well as new provisions. The regulations regarding reserved contracts, technical specifications, and selection criterion are satisfied in the Revised Classic directive.

Typ 2 diabetes har genom ökad levnadsstandard vuxit till ett världsomfattande problem. I Sverige har cirka 300 000 personer typ 2 diabetes. Omvårdnaden av denna patientgrupp kommer till stor del bestå av stöd och information. Syftet med litteraturstudien var att beskriva betydelse av stöd och information till patienter med typ 2 diabetes. Ett bra stöd från hälso- och sjukvårdspersonal och närstående är positivt för patienten.

Syftet med uppsatsen är att identifiera vilken ekonomisk information som en företagsledning i ett större tillverkande företag förmedlar, samt verifiera om detta stämmer överens med vad produktionspersonalen har vetskap om. Vi ämnar även undersöka vad som inverkar på produktionspersonalens vetskap om denna information. Slutsatser: Vad ledningen vill föra ut för ekonomisk information och vad produktionspersonalen har vetskap om stämmer generellt inte överens. De respondenter som har störst vetskap om den ekonomiska informationen är mer engagerade, känner större samhörighet i gruppen och är mer insatta i företagets ekonomiska situation. Gemensamt för dessa är att de alla har kontinuerliga och täta möten med roterande ansvar för att hålla i dessa samt tillgång till väl uppdaterade anslagstavlor..

Property sales involve two main contract partners, the buyer (the new owner) and the seller (the property owner). In some cases the property owner can have let a third person (the leaseholder) lease the property or the land.The rights and obligations that fall on the property owner, the leaseholder and the new owner according to the Code of land laws can appear difficult and unclear, especially con-cerning reservation, the new owner?s duty to inspect the property and when he does not act in good faith, the formal requirement and when terms are changed.The work towards a more uniform interpretation of the Code of land laws should result in a greater correspondence between the rules of leasehold and property sales, the rules of leasehold should be interpreted in accordance with the rules of property sales. This should mean an increased responsibility for the property owner to reserve the lease and a de-creased duty for the new owner to inspect the property. If the lease is only partially re-served, the new owner is only bound by the leasehold to the parts which he understood from the reservation and the duty to inspect the property is limited to documents in the property owner?s possession.

The web has made an incredible amount of unorganized information available to anyone. There are search engines that help us structuring the information, but it is still difficult to find what you search for on the web. The purpose of this master's thesis is to investigate whether the already existing techniques for automatic indexing are suited for the new information retrieval context on the web and how the choice to support these techniques, or not, affects the search results. This is examined through a literature study on automatic indexing and other related concepts, such as information retrieval and information searching on the web in order to get a theoretical frame to the work and by an observation of the search engine HotBot to approach the purpose of the thesis. The observation is carried out by searching HotBot's database and investigating the search results in order to try to identify patterns that can reveal something about how HotBot's automatic indexing is done.

The purpose of this essay is to examine Marjane Satrapi?s comic novel Persepolis from a gender and postcolonial perspective. To reach this I have used several theories from mainly three different fields of theory: gender studies, postcolonial theories and theoretical texts which focus on the form of comics.My analysis has shown that idols, heroes and other cultural symbols are important for the creation of the main character Marji?s identity, but that she at the same time has many Marxistic influences. These casts of mind do not stand in opposition, but become an expression for her hybridity.

The topic of this essay is information seeking for children and young people in municipal libraries. This is based in the growing need for information seeking skills in the Information Society. Policy documents on the topic are scrutinized and related to a concrete praxis. Data has been collected through two case studies; one carried out in Ronneby and one in Trandared, Borås. These cases where chosen because of the existence of a local policy for library skills and information search for 6 to 12-year-olds.
