Katalogisering och presentation av film på bibliotek
The aim of this thesis is to discuss selected parts of cataloguing both from a practical and a theoretical viewpoint. It presents the basic grounds for cataloguing of printed as well as non-printed materials. The focus lies on the main entry heading and its author/title problem concerning film. The thesis theoretical part consists of an analysis of central documents dealing with the author concept from both a library- and Information Science perspective and a film science perspective. The practical part consists of interviews from two Swedish public libraries, which have different approaches on presenting films.
Scientific collaboration kartläggning av ett tvärvetenskapligt forskningsområde inom biblioteks- och informationsvetenskap
The aim of this thesis is to map the research area of scientific collaboration within Library and Information Science LIS. The purpose is to find out who is doing research in this area, who they cite and if they get cited by other scientists outside of LIS. Scientific collaboration is an interdisciplinary research area with researchers from different disciplines such as LIS, human-computer interaction, psychology and sociology. We have concentrated our study to North America, Ireland, Great Britain and Scandinavia. In order to find researchers, we visited the websites of all universities with library and Information Science faculties in the chosen countries.
Biblioteks- och informationsvetenskap som kunskapsområde En bibliometrisk studie.
The objective of the study is to map the cognitive structure of Library and Information Science, using a quantitative, bibliometric method. This empirical study shows how co-citation analysis combined with word-frequency analysis can be used to describe the subject content of the field. The research questions to be answered are: -Which clusters of authors can be identified? -How can these clusters be described in respect of their subject content, if the descriptors associated with the authors in the clusters are counted? The results show that the cognitive structure of Library and Information Science can be described by 13 clusters of authors, where each cluster is representing a specific aspect of the subject- domain. For the description of the subject content of the clusters, descriptors DE of the LISA database have been used..
Svensk kunskapsorganisationsforskning 1990-2002
The purpose of this study is to characterize the research in the field of Knowledge Organization, during the period of 1990-2002, focusing on the subject and the epistemology of these studies. The result shows that studies concerning representation, e.g. subjects such as classification, indexing and bibliographic description, are the most frequently researched areas throughout the period. Classification was more popular in the beginning of the period, but later bibliographic description, mostly with studies on metadata, became more visible, together with a growing interest in information retrieval. The theoretical discussions in the studies focused primarily on document analysis and the organization of digital documents.
Tjänstemäns informationssökning: en intervjuundersökning vid Regeringskansliet
This thesis examines information seeking and information needs at the Swedish Government Offices. The Government Offices comprise the Prime Ministers Office, the Government Ministries and the Office for Administrative Affairs. Approximately 4 500 members of staff are employed, of whom around 120 are political appointees. For this study, interviews have been conducted with 15 senior officials and political appointees at the Government Ministries and the Prime Ministers Office. The interviews have been supplemented with literature studies based on user studies research in library and Information Science.
Bibliotekscheferna och bibliotekarieutbildningen. En enkätundersökning av bibliotekschefers syn på utbildningen i biblioteks- och informationsvetenskap i Sverige
The aim of this thesis is to investigate what chief librarians in Sweden know about the present education in Library and Information Science and what opinions they have of it. We have used the following four questions as a starting point for our work: + How much do the chief librarians know about the education in Library and Information Science? + What are their opinions of the education? + What emphasis do they put on academic degrees and practical experience? + Are there any differences between various kinds of libraries regarding these issues? We decided to use questionnaires to gather our information. These were sent to 200 chief librarians on both public and research libraries all over Sweden. 151 of the questionnaires were answered.
Informationsbeteende i komplexa beslutsprocesser nyttjande av informationskällor vid informationssökning om automatiserade bibliotekssystem
The aim with this study was to examine which information sources are used by the librarians in the process of changing automated library system and why. Furthermore it was of interest to examine whether there are any correlations between variables environment, information quality, information availability, information need and information sources. I used a quantitative method that was carried out in form of a nationwide survey. Questionnaires were sent out to all the Swedish libraries that had change library systems sometime between the years 2000.
Den Fjärde Basfärdigheten

Från NV till NO
This paper deals with how science teachers in the Swedish secondary school choose the content in the education they give to the pupils. What are the reasons for their choices and what do they think of the purpose of science in secondary school? Through interviewing science teachers the investigation shows that there are three different views of how to choose content in the science education: one focuses on the processes of science itself, one integrates the socio-cultural aspects and one emphasizes the interests of the pupils.

Every day companies, regardless of size, produces new information that needs to
be stored. In the information society of today, the characteristics of the
information changes both in size and complexity. This results in higher demands
on which storage solution that suits the company and their field of business.
New and more innovating storage solutions enters the market, but are they
necessary to smaller companies of development active in the IT society?
Questions to Answer:
Is data storage a growing problem for companies of development active in the IT
society?
How do traditional storage solutions manage the information growth of today?
How urgent is the need of a new storage solution?
Which features are prioritized in the future storage solution?
Method:
By performing a quantitative survey we delivered an inquiry to several
companies, which answers will help us answering our above mentioned questions.

Information overload? En kritisk begreppsanalys
Information overload is by no means a new concept, but has come to prominence the last decade. A generally accepted definition of the phenomenon does not exist. The main question in this master thesis is how to define information overload in order to create a connotative concept for Information Science. This thesis reviews the nature and causes of information overload, and considers possible solutions, both individual and technical, and their relevance to the information professional. The review of the results shows that researchers seldom or never give a legible definition of what the concept information holds.
Naturvetenskap och Bilderböcker : Naturvetenskaplig Begreppsbildning och Grundläggande Naturvetenskapliga Matoder
Preschool has a long tradition of using picture books, both as entertainment and as a resource for educational activities. In science there are two main application areas. The first one is science concepts and the second is to teach basic science process skills. These skills, observing, communicating, inferring, classifying, measuring and predicting reflects the methods used by scientists. Picture books potential to put science concepts and activities that promote the use of science process skills in a meaningful context, recommends using picture books for this purpose.
Intranät En kommunikationskanal för alla?
Intranet is today a common technical groupware to communicate in many
organisations. People can interact through the Intranet and communicate within
the organization and get relevant information according to their workplace. It
can be difficult to get everybody to use the Intranet as an information- and
communication tool. This causes problems when people want to reach out with
information. With these thoughts we entered our work at Luftfartsverket at
Arlanda airport.
Genusforskares informationssökningssituation
This Masters thesis concerns difficulties experienced by Gender Studies researchers in an information seeking context. The aim is to identify, and study the cause of, these potential difficulties by asking the following questions: How do researchers in Gender Studies seek information? What difficulties may arise when information seeking is carried out in Gender Studies? What may be the cause of these difficulties? What does Gender Studies consist of? In order to find feasible answers to these questions, particular attention is paid to the context in which the researchers exist and work. The database KVINNSAM serves as an example of how libraries have tried to overcome barriers in information seeking in Gender Studies. The method used is a qualitative one based on interviews and literature studies.
