Syftet med denna uppsats är att undersöka på vilket sätt musik och filmrum interagerar med varandra i filmmusikalerna ?Dancer in the Dark? och ?Chicago?. Detta görs huvudsakligen med utgångspunkt från Richard Dyers teorier kring rumsgestaltning inom filmmusikaler, men också utifrån deras roll som förmedlare av utopiska värden, samt Michel Chions teorier kring ljudets olika effekter på film. Vilka värderingar och budskap filmerna har och hur de kommer fram diskuteras också. Resultatet av analyserna visar att de två filmernas sätt att arbeta med rum och musik skiljer sig markant, men att de båda för fram ett samhällskritiskt budskap..

I detta examensarbete har jag undersökt gestaltningen av lärare i samtida svensk barn- och ungdomsfilm. Lärarkaraktärerna i fyra utvalda svenska filmer har analyserats utifrån i synnerhet ett genus- och didaktiskt perspektiv. Syftet är att få fördjupad förståelse för hur karaktären lärare, hur lärarrollen och hur undervisningssituationen framställs i dessa fyra filmer. De frågeställningar jag utgått från är: Hur karaktäriseras lärarna och hur framställs lärarrollen i de utvalda filmerna? Vilka likheter och skillnader finns det mellan lärarkaraktärerna och lärarrollen i de utvalda filmerna? samt På vilket sätt uttrycks lärarkaraktärernas undervisningssituationer och vilka likheter och skillnader framträder gällande dessa i de utvalda filmerna? De mänskliga erfarenheterna har en avgörande betydelse vid utövandet av ett yrke, likt läraryrket.1 På så sätt menar jag att detta examenarbetets yrkesrelevans kan förklaras.

Denna uppsats kommer behandla skräckfilmerna Hellraiser och Huset som Gud glömde och hur dessa presenterar en viss världsbild. Filmerna är utvalda utifrån deras övernaturliga inslag. I uppsatsen knyts analyser av filmerna ihop med Mary Douglas Renhet och fara. Utifrån tre aspekter, andlighet, gott och ont och världsstruktur, analyseras filmernas innehåll. Denna analys visar på en stark religionskritik, men samtidigt visar de att det övernaturliga existerar.

This report is an assessment of the feasibility of using aerial photographs to estimate number of stems per hectare in young forest stands, used together with upper height to determine the need for pre-commercial thinning or ordinary thinning cutting. Aerial photo-interpretation was conducted in 2007 on assignment of Stora Enso Skog AB. A mean height function based on stand age produced with data from Bergvik Skog AB?s 2006 forest inventory assessment was used as a proxy for upper height and used together with photo-interpreted number of stems per hectare to determine the need for thinning cutting according to Bergvik Skog AB?s definitions. The test area is located north of Falun on Bergvik Skog AB?s land.Flight altitude was approximately 900 m above ground and the aerial photos were taken by L&L Flygbildteknik AB.

The intention of this study is to investigate why some regions, which choose to secede from their parent country, are internationally recognized and others are not. The case studies of this study are South Sudan and Somaliland. South Sudan is as of now the world?s newest state, and Somaliland is a break-away state that is considered a part of Somalia by the International community. There are conditions that have to be fulfilled, before existing nations recognize the break-away state, such as an agreement between the seceded state and the parent country, which was the case for South Sudan and Sudan.

In this thesis, the impact of collective ratings on customers? perception of a product is examined. The empirical data comes from an experimentally designed survey where the effect of collective ratings is measured in the setting of a traditional advertisement for a feature film. In contrast to what previous research would suggest be to the expected outcome, the authors of this paper concludes that in comparison with alternative designs of advertisements, there are no measurable advantages of including collective ratings in advertisements from the marketers point of view. We find two explanations to the result: (1) people tend to self-report that they are more influenced by collective ratings than they actually are, and (2) the advertisement which lacked a rating could be as attractive due to cultural interpretations of white spaces..

This thesis discusses model based tracking of radar echoes in tanks with liquid content. The errors in the measurements are not always random in these cases, and the interference that occurs when nearby echoes moves in relation to each other makes tracking difficult. The tracking problem can be broken down to four parts; track initiation, track destruction, association of the measured echoes to the tracks and to update the tracks with the associated echoes. The radar measurement is primarily made on the surface. However, additional echoes from the tank floor or other structures and double bounces are normally present.

The aim of the thesis is to highlight external factors to explain why the EMU was created. The external factor considered here is the monetary policy of the United States, which often conflicted with European interests. The statistical data in the thesis, as well as previous research, show that even though the EU economically in many ways had become an equal partner of the US during the second half of the 20th century, the union still faced US influence and dependence.The results of the thesis can be explained with neorealist theories on power measured as an actor's distribution of capabilities and balancing of power. An actor that is equipped with the world's leading currency is more independent from others. Other actors, on the other hand, become increasingly dependent on the major currency and the policy of its owner.

The purpose of this study is to discover and explain the influences of media coverage of organizational crises on crisis communication, and vice versa. The study also shows how mediated crises develop, and how media framing and news sources affect this development.Carried out as a case study of three Swedish mediated crises, the methods used are quantitative and qualitative content analysis of media content from four Swedish newspapers and four organizations' press releases from the studied crises.Mediated crises develop through their specific pattern regardless of, but not independent from, the organizations' crisis communication. The crisis communication is used as an elite source in media reporting from the crises, but it can not control the mediated crises. However, it influences framing, and the possibilities to influence media reporting are better in the pre-crisis phase and the culmination..
