The aim of this study is to explore howEuropean changes in the view on securityrelates to the view on Immigration and viceversa. The answer to that question is basedupon collected data from three separatetime periods; the 1950s, 1970s and 1990s.These time periods are seen as importanthistoric decades when political changes,assumed to have affected the views onsecurity and Immigration, have occurred.According to certain criteria each timeperiod has been labelled in terms ofnarrowed/widened view on security as wellas restrictive/open view on Immigration.The hypothesis of the study is that, whencompared, a constant pattern can be seenbetween the historical labels of eachphenomenon, where a narrow view onsecurity goes hand in hand with an openview on Immigration and similarly a widesecurity view relates to a restrictive viewon Immigration.The conclusion of the study gives supportto the hypothesis. During all three periodsstudied a restrictive view on Immigrationrelates to a wider view on security while anopen view on Immigration relates to anarrower view on security. Thisrelationship goes both ways..

The topic of this thesis is Immigration policy in the European Union with focus on the Schengen cooperation and illegal Immigration. Immigration policies and other policy areas such as asylum and refugee policies have become hot topics on the EU agenda in recent years. Partly because of cooperations like Schengen, but also because a need of a common Immigration and asylum policy has emerged.The purpose of the thesis is to give a better understanding of the relations that might be found between illegal Immigration to the EU and the Schengen cooperation. Schengen plays an important role in dealing with international migration in the EU and will probably continue to do so in the future.The thesis is a comparative case study with Spain and Germany as the two specific cases. Their national Immigration policies are examined and put in relation to the Schengen cooperation.

The aim of this study was to describe, analyze and compare the Left Party?s, the Social Democratic Party?s, the Liberal People?s Party?s and the Moderate Party?s ideas on Immigration policy from 1960-2010. In this study the Immigration policy program or party program was analyzed through idea analysis to find out what Immigration policy interventions they have come with, and if they want to assimilate or integrate immigrants. Materials used for the study are the Immigration policy programs and party programs. Even scientific journals and articles have been used, in both national and international level.

This thesis examines Jews and Catholics views on Immigration to the United States in the late 19th century. It is qualitative analysis of how immigrants and Immigration is treated in two different magazines, The American Jewess and Catholic World. The findings are then put in the context of contemporary nativist ideas. This thesis states that both The American Jewess and Catholic World are, principally, in favor of Immigration and do not want to restrict Immigration at that time. Catholic World is somewhat more open to the idea ofdiscussing harder Immigration laws but the overall tendency in both magazines is that Immigration is not a problem to the United States.

The purpose of this thesis is to analyze equalities/inequalities between the Danish and Swe-dish Immigration policy based on Habermas theory about openings/closures and analyze the reasons to the differences between Danish and Swedish immigrant policy. Therefore this study has two question formulations, the first one was "Is there any equalities/inequalities between the Danish and Swedish Immigration policy based on Habermas theory of openings and closings?" and the second was "Why are there equalities/inequalities between the Danish and Swedish Immigration policy?" The results show that based on Habermas theory there are equalities between the Danish and Swedish Immigration policy. This essay examines migration paths through Sweden. There has been a debate in August 2010 that Sweden is regarded as a backdoor for non European immigrants to come over Denmark. It has been discovered through Denmark?s statistics and is regarded as negative by the Danish government. Denmark and Sweden are two countries that are socio- , economically- and culturally similar, but went in two different directions, especially with Immigration policy.

Syftet med uppsatsen är att undersöka vilka effekter östutvidgningen kan ha på den svenska familjeförsäkringen. Arbetet fokuserar på Polens inträde i EU och en eventuell polsk Immigration till Sverige. Metod: Undersökningen bygger på migrationsteorier och jämförelser med tidigare utvidgningar av den Europeiska Unionen och pekar på drivkrafter bakom Immigration. Slutsatser: Arbetet visar på stora ekonomiska skillnader mellan Sverige och Polen och att det finns avsevärda incitament till Immigration. Samtidigt ger tidigare utvidgningar prov på att människor i allmänhet är trogna sin hembygd.
