The purpose of this thesis is to examine how academic librarians seek information for themselves and for others, and what differences exist. The terms self-generated and imposed information seeking is used to describe the two different types of information seeking. Step 2 ? define and understand the problem, step 3 ? choose a search system and step 4 ? formulate a query of Marchionini?s information-seeking model forms the basis of the theoretical framework, which is supplemented with Soergel and Katz. Qualitative interviews with eight academic librarians were conducted and analyzed in order to gather empirical facts.

This essay is about the asylum and immigration politics within the EU. Due to the heavy criticism the EU has been exposed to from among others different kind of human rights organizations I have become interested to find out what kind of asylum and migration politics right now is being formed by the member states of the union. Thus the purpose is also to see if the EU is creating a policy within this area that intends to live up to the human rights obligations.My overall research question is:Which ideas characterize the asylum and immigration politics within the EU?The theoretical perspectives of universalism and particularism are used as two analytical tools in order to understand the phenomenon I am investigating and to identify its characterizing ideas. In my essay universalism and particularism are used as opposite Ideal types.

The purpose of this paper is to standardize and simplify the design work on a few specific types of storage brackets for balconies. The company Balco AB had the wish to simplify the design work in the preparation of attachments to their balcony structures. This would be done by a calculation matrix that could be produced which then in turn could be used for each new project by the company. The design work behind the development of these fittings at each new project is costly both in terms of time devoted by each calculation but also the cost of the time. The purpose of this report is that in a systematic manner, a calculation matrix can be created that then the company instead may follow from each new project.In carrying out the project used HILTI calculation program, which was provided by the company HILTI.

This paper is a critique of the hegemonic democracy ideal in France today, the myth of the Republic. Based on critical theory, the paper also contains a normative attempt giving the chance to subaltern groups to tell their, less often heard, version of the "truth".The theoretical foundation is the ontological narrative perspective, where identities and actions are understood as being constructed by the telling of stories. The interdependent relations of different narrative dimensions are analyzed. The power over who gets to tell the story of the "truth" is understood as decided in the interaction by dimensions of metanarrativity, public narratives, ontological narratives and conceptual narrativity. The author argues, inspired by Chantal Mouffe, that consensus is an illusion based on exclusion of those that differ.

In Sweden there has been a surge of interest in the films classified as pilsnerfilms, i.e. comicalfilms produced for little money in the 1930's and containing a more working class and/or ruralsetting then the so called "champagne comedies" from the same era. The concept"pilsnerfilm" is how ever a little vague and although the main focus of this paper ispilsnerfilms, it will also cover other types of comical films made in Sweden between the1930's and 1940's.This paper examines the now-existing network of people interested in these types of movies.It will do so by interviewing seven of the most prominent fans of movies made during the1930's and 1940's. Most of them are living in Stockholm. The paper discuss how through theconsumption of these types of films, a nostalgic gaze is created.

Syftet med studien är att beskriva studiecirkeldeltagandets betydelse för individens lärande och hälsa. För att kunna beskriva detta har studien inspirerats av etnografisk metod. Data insamlades under utvärderingen av studiecirkelnDet goda livet, från två studiecirkelgrupper. Det empiriska materialet från den ena studiecirkelgruppen består av elva enskilda intervjuer som genomfördes före och tio efter cirkeldeltagandet samt av fyra observerade studiecirkelträffar. Från den andra studiecirkelgruppen har data insam-lats under en studiecirkelträff samt genom att deltagarna, gemensamt vid detta tillfälle, fick besvara några frågor.Resultatet visar att studiecirkeldeltagarnas och ledarnas förväntningar och cirkelerfaren-heter samt cirkelmiljö och gruppform för studiecirkelgruppen har betydelse för studie-cirkelns genomförande.

Efter kontakt med Läkare Utan Gränsers internationella avdelning för logistik framkom att organisationen vid fältarbete saknar en pålitlig energikälla för att tillgodose sitt basbehov av el. Success in treatment with platinum-based chemotherapy against different types of cancer tumors is limited by side-effects such as hearing loss which can have a large impact on the individual`s quality of life. It is of great importance to continue with studies that address this complex of problems.Objective: The aim of this literature review is to investigate the impact of platinum-based chemotherapy on hearing in children and adolescents treated for different types of cancer.Method: A descriptive review of literature was made based on sources from 15 different studies on the impact of platinum-based chemotherapy on hearing in the target group.Results: The survey of the studies shows that platinum-based chemotherapy causes incidence of hearing loss by differing degree in the target group. Dosage of a platinum-based substance appeared to be the most significant factor. Treatment with both cisplatin and carboplatin was more ototoxic than treatment with only one of these. Greater risk for hearing loss was to a higher degree observed in younger children.

Det här är en kandidattuppsats i arbetsvetenskap som har undersökt hur brandmän beroende på ålder konstruerar och reproducerar maskuliniteter. Undersökningens frågeställning var: Hur ser konstruktionen och reproduktionen av maskuliniteter ut beroende på ålder? Frågeställningen formulerades efter ett konstaterande från vår sida om att åldersaspekten behöver lyftas fram vid studier av räddningstjänsten eftersom det sedan tidigare är ett outforskat område. Undersökningen hade sin utgångspunkt i genusteoretisk litteratur med kompletterande teorier kring ålder. Studien är av kvalitativ karaktär och har inneburit att vi har utfört åtta intervjuer med olika brandmän på två brandstationer i Sverige.

ABSTRACTClimate Change in the Daily PressAn Analysis of the Representation Swedish Daily Papers Convey Through Their Editorials About the Climate ChangeThe purpose of this essay is partly to present how swedish daily papers describe the climate change through their editorials and partly to examine if their politcal affiliation effect their point of view about the climate change. The search incluedes editorials from 6 daily papers (Aftonbladet, Dagens Nyheter, Expressen, Göteborgstidningen, Nerikes Allehanda and Svenska Dagbladet) from the year 1997 to the year 2003. Three discourses and the order between them, found by a former analysis (Adger and others, 2001) of the international politics of climate change, are used as types of ideal in a form of an analysis of idea.The analysis reveals that the swedish daily papers don?t give the problem any major attention. Only a total of 65 editorials about the climate change could be found even though the papers produces several thousands during the period.

Prioritisation of software requirements is a critical part of the development of software. Whichrequirements and in which order they will be developed is one of the main tasks that requirementprioritisation supports.There are different ways that a requirement prioritisation can be used, for example alone or in agroup and with different methods.The purpose of this report is to map out how you can carry out a requirement prioritisation alonewith different types of prioritisation methods and how you solve the problems that can arise whenprioritisting requirements. This is done by documenting the use of three different types of methodsthat can be execute alone. The methods are "100-dollar test", "Ranking" and "Top-tenrequirements".To be able to prioritise requirements, you need to establish which requirements you shall prioritise.The paper retrieves this information by interviewing stakeholders in the system and analysing theresult of the interviews and the execution of the requirement prioritisation.Three problems arose during that work and I present solutions on these problems. Med bakgrund i de skolreformer som genomfördes i Sverige under 90-talet och i studier av differentiering inom gymnasieskolan behandlar den här uppsatsen skillnader i hur gymnasieskolor ger uttryck för ?det internationella?, ett samlingsuttryck för en mängd internationella och global strömningar. Inspiration tas från Bourdieus sociologi. Genom kvalitativa och kvantitativa textanalyser undersöks hur ett internationellt innehåll tar sig i uttryck på webbplatser som tillhör 45 gymnasieskolor i Stockholm. Undersökningen fokuserar hur internationella inslag skiljer sig mellan skolor med olika social rekrytering och syn på utbildning.Studiens resultat och analys pekar på att skolor med hög social rekrytering ägnar ett större och bredare utrymme åt det internationella i förhållande till skolor med låg social rekrytering.

A profile ofdemands and wishes were created in collaboration with Mårten Dragstedt, DeputyDirector of Dooria Sverige ABBy following the chosen method the authors have been able to produce a fullyfunctional prototype that meet the demands that were put on the product. Catia V5R20 has been used as an aid during prototype construction and virtual tests.
