Profilering i offentliga sektorn : En studie i varför statliga förvaltningsmyndigheter bedriver profileringsarbeten

Title: Branding the public sectorAuthor: Rasmus Bergmark and David BackmanTutor: Magnus FredrikssonPurpose: The purpose of this thesis was to examine branding in the public sector. The frame extends to government agencies and authorities in the Swedish public sphere, and aims to identify ulterior motives for their work with branding.Method/Material: The material used in this thesis consists 102 graphic manuals for government agencies in the Swedish public sector. Lately information- and communication technology (ICT) has been seen as an important tool to vitalize democracy. What kind of democracy it generates is however debateable. The objective with this thesis is therefore to examine what democratic ideal that dominates the use of ICT in Region Skåne and Västra Götalandsregionen and what kind of citizenship it brings. The two case studies were chosen because the Swedish regional level is facing a reorganization with democratic ambitions which in relation to ICT is fairly unexplored. To fulfil the objective there are two perspectives; e-democracy and e-administration, which are defined and integrated with democratic theory including Premfors´ "Fast, Strong and Thin" democratic ideals and Marshall´s three citizenship rights.

Lansen Technology is a security company from Halmstad, Sweden and their focus indeveloping and selling alarm solutions. One of their latest inventions is a vibration sensor thatrecognizes very small movements in the ground.The thesis work was made in cooperation with Lansen Technology AB and the task was toinvent a test equipment that decides whether the sensor is working correctly. By generatingcertain frequencies with specific amplitude, we will expect the sensor to give a similar output.The final report includes all the parts of our work as studying, choosing components,programming, construction, results and conclusion..

När myndigheter twittrar : Att ta fram en stil för det offentliga språket på Twitter

In November 2010, The Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions (Sveriges Kommuner och Landsting) distributed a survey where 53 % of the responding municipalities declared that they use Twitter. Out of the municipalities that declared they did not use social media, 49 % answered that they were planning on using it but that they had not gotten started. The purpose with social media was primarily declared to be maintaining dialogue with citizens and a channel for information.The informal ?twittersphere? is a new environment for the conventionally formal government communication, and with it comes an entirely new set of demands on the style and content of texts, compared to other media. The purpose of my work was to present a style proposal for the public sector?s communication on Twitter, with the help of theory and empirical data.My methods consisted of text analysis and qualitative interviews.

The aim of this two-year masters thesis is to look for the Swedish public library´s core business, using theories about competence. The approach is qualitative. It is done by studying the Unesco Public Library Manifesto, the Swedish library legislation, the education in library and information science, two important Swedish library related journals and by asking public librarians about their work and point of view regarding competence.The research shows mainly two sides of the core competence of public librarians: information technology competence and literature knowledge. The conclusion is that the two meet in the idea of mass education, which could therefore be called the Swedish public library´s core business..

Interaktivt konsultverktyg -vid utveckling av webbplatser

Denna rapport handlar om ett examensarbete utfört åt multimediaföretaget Animero. Det är ett litet företag med åtta anställda som jobbar med olika multimediaproduktioner med fokus på webb- och videoproduktion. Problemet för Animero var att det saknades en ordentlig kravspecifikation i projekten och att kunderna brukade utgå ifrån vad de själva tycker om istället för att tänka på dem som ska besöka webbplatsen. Vårt uppdrag blev att utveckla en applikation som ska ta fram underlag till en kravspecifikation vid beställning av webbplatser. Applikationen ska samla in information om kundernas målgrupp, deras företagsidentitet och de funktioner de vill ha med på webbplatsen.

Från elev till student : En jämförelse av tre högskolors studentrekrytering och gymnasieelevers perspektiv

Background: The competition is getting harder between the universities. To reach the high school students and discover which means of contact they prefer and how they perceive student recruitment are important issues in order to succeed in marketing strategies.Purpose: The purpose with our report is to investigate, analyze and compare the student recruitment in three universities and investigate how the high school students want to be contacted. Then we compare to see if they think alike.Method: We have done a qualitative study and chosen to use focus group interviews for the high school students and interviews for the universities to collect our empirical data. We have compared the empirical data and analyzed it with communication processes and marketing communication as theoretical grounds.Result: All of the universities work approximately the same way with their student recruitment. They put a large effort in the Internet and social networks as well as the personal contact.

Webbplats för kursen EBM : Evidence Based Medicine

Vi har gjort vårt kandidatarbete på en webbyrå i Stockholm som heter Boman Communication. Där har vi gjort en databasdriven webbplats i flash och asp. Webbplatsen är ett komplement till en kurs som heter EBM. Kursen EBM hålls av myndigheten SBU som i sin tur är en kund till Boman. Målgruppen för EBM och därmed också webbplatsens målgrupp är bland annat professorer och läkare inom medicin och vård.

The main focus is to explore what the teachers think of the choices they make and how they believe these changes affect the pupils. It is also focused on how the teachers perceive their pupils? learning is improved by oral communication and how they incorporate all pupils, especially the pupils who rarely participate in classroom activity.The methods used are qualitative studies using interviews and observations.

Genus en social konstruktion? : En socialpsykologisk studie om och hur interaktioner påverkas av genusordningen i den icke-verbala kommunikationen under anställningsintervjuer.

The purpose of this qualitative study is to create an understanding for if and how nonverbal communication and the learned gender structure influence interactions during employment interviews for executive posts. The study is conducted from a social constructivist perspective where it is argued that the individual is created through social interactions. In order to obtain understanding for social gender structure and nonverbal communication in social interactions observation has been utilized as a method. In addition an observation matrix based on nonverbal behavior and masculine and feminine hexis has been established. The results include both the specific individual?s and the general interactions that took place during the employment interviews.
