The ways designers work with craftsmen in other countries can vary alot,but still there are many similarities. In this study we make comparisonsbetween a number of projects involving three different designers and artisansin other countries and parallel that to our own work in South Africa.What we have seen is that there is some common denominators betweenthe different projects that are being taken care of in different ways.Some things that commonly attract the designers seem to be the skills ofthe craftsmen, as well as their colouring, patterns and materials. A furthercommon denominator in the projects is that people?s perception of qualityhas become an important issue. The products that are being developedare often sold in the country of the designer, and therefore a needto insure that the quality of the products is up to the standards expectedin that certain country has occurred.

Commissioned for this report is Ramboll, Bridge and Tunnel Unit in Stockholm. Theidea throughout the work has been to primarily help bridge designers compilingadvice and instructions on how fatigue verification for railway bridges in reinforcedconcrete shall be performed under the new rules, the Eurocodes.After the introduction of the Eurocodes in 2011 has major problems emerged amongdesigners around Sweden. In some areas, it differs in the calculation rules comparedwith rules from the Swedish Transport Administration and the National Board ofHousing, Building and Planning calculation. Fatigue verification is one area where thenew calculation rules are different from the past.A large part of the report has been to interpret and find the relevant information inthe Eurocodes concerning fatigue. When questions or doubts have surfaced, this hasbeen discussed with Elisabeth Helsing at the Swedish Transport Administration andbridge designers at Ramboll.The result is a report where the structure is organized in the way that the bridgedesigners can move from cover to cover and realize that fatigue verification in realityfollows the same order as the report's sections.

Today we can create digital 3D models which can be realised almost instantly through production methods such as 3D printing and computer controlled milling.What if this same technology could be applied to the development and construction of terrain parks?With snow as the material tools could be developed using similar principles to design and sculpt the surface, only on a larger scale.How would terrain park designers adapt their process to use this new technology? Hantering av digitalt designmaterial i kollaborativ miljö
A case study of professional interaction designers' usage of design materials was conducted. Five interviews were performed in order to gain insight in the systems used by designers, how these work, how they collaborate within them, and what they think of recent research about them. Design studios allow collaboration for several users at once. Digital material (mockups, pictures, etc.) are commonly used, but needs to be made analog, e.g. printed, to be usable in the design studio environment.

The study addresses the field of design as a profession and examines the views on strategic management in a design project among nine selected graphic designers. The graphic designers who participate in the study are permanently employed at design companies in Stockholm. The study has a qualitative approach and the method is based on face-to-face interviews. We have chosen to examine this subject due to the opinion among professionals that strategic management in the design industry has increased during the last decades. There is a belief that strategic management in some cases are used too extensively as a way for design companies to make more money.

Outsourcing är ett begrepp som blir allt vanligare i företag. Ett vanligt argument för att man väljer att outsourca vissa delar av verksamheten, är att det ger en möjlighet till att fokusera på kärnverksamheten och därmed uppnå större konkurrenskraft. Studien syftar till att undersöka hur externa designers kan skapa en visuell identitet på produkten, samt vilka faktorer är viktiga då externa designers ersätter en in-house designavdelning. En kvalitativ fallstudie har genomförts på DUKA, Axcent of Scandinavia och Gant. I dessa fall har alla på något sätt kontrakterat ut antingen hela eller delar av sin designverksamhet.
Dagsljusdesign för en god visuell miljö
During our education to become lighting designers at Jönköping University, the artificial lighting has been in focus. Therefore we wanted to learn more about daylight. We chose to do this from a visual approach in open plan offices. Since daylight is part of the architects´ responsibility to master, we wanted to examine what architects think of when they plan daylight environments in open plan offices and how this is expressed in the buildings with focus on the visual factors.Our questions at issue are:What knowledge do architects have concerning daylight planning, and how do they use this knowledge in their practice?How well do the chosen daylight environments meet the end-users need of a good visual environment? The study consists of three case studies, carried out in the same way.

Competition in the market of interior design during the last several years has drastically increased. The consumers of today are very conscious about what the market can offer and therefore they have high demands on the products. It is not only the function of the product that matters but also the design that makes a difference. Companies are becoming more aware of this and as a result they have to find a way to set themselves apart in order to attract customers. This realization has led designers and economists to cooperate in a different way than before.
Kritiska framgångsfaktorer inom Enterprise Application Integration - en IS-designers syn
Systemintegration är ett omfattande ämne som innehåller en uppsjö av begrepp och teorier, Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) är den avgränsning som genomförts inom detta område och fokuserar på en mer praktisk synvinkel av systemintegration. Vidare har det även avgränsats till en designers syn på EAI. Med dessa avgränsningar har en induktiv studie genomförts av tre framstående organisationer som är verksamma inom systemintegration. Genom att genomföra intervjuer med personer som dagligen arbetar med EAI identifierades 17 faktorer. Dessa faktorer analyserades och jämfördes med befintlig teori inom området för ERP och EAI.

Uppsatsens ämne är till viss del redan givet i och med vår utbildning,där arbetet ska ha en inriktning mot detaljhandeln.Idag befinner sig modedesigners på en tuff marknad, där konkurrensen är hård och detkan vara svårt att etablera sig på den svenska modemarknaden. Oetablerade designersefterfrågar därför en tjänst som hjälper dem med arbetet som tillkommer runt designprocessen.Marknadsföring och försäljning av deras alster anser de vara en av de svårastebitarna att själva kunna hantera.il NuovoiiiKlädkedjorna dominerar modemarknaden, men trenden går mot ett allt mer personligtmode, vilket gör att vi anser att det finns en lucka på marknaden. Därför syftar uppsatstill att undersöka om det finns en potential att starta upp en butik i Göteborg, som säljeroetablerade designers alster som bidrar till originalitet och mångfald inom modeindustrin.Den affärsidé vi har utformat grundar sig därför på att vi som ett detaljistföretagska tillhandahålla design från oetablerade designers och förmedla den till konsument. Design av multimedia för allmänna kunskapsinstitutioner
Denna uppsats behandlar hur multimedia för lärande designas och används på allmänna kunskapsinstitutioner som museum och Science Centers i Sverige. Syftet med studien var att kartlägga designers förhållningssätt till designprocessen samt till aspekter som lärande, upplevelse och multimedia när en multimedial applikation utformas. Ytterligare syften var att identifiera problem och avslutningsvis utforma och presentera riktlinjer för design av multimedia för allmänna kunskapsinstitutioner. Studien, som antog en kvalitativ ansats, initierades med inledande intervjuer med en extern designer och två utställningsdesigners. Dessa intervjuer vägledde sedan frågeställningarnas utformning till de sex huvudintervjuerna, som hade en semistrukturerad prägel.
