Never before have so many moved so frequently as now. Mobility lies at the centre for the concern ofstates, business and technological development. Some even claim that we are witnessing a mobility turn inthe social sciences. However, as the capacity to move has increased so too has the control and surveillanceof mobility become more extensive. Since September 11, 2001 security has been the defining paradigm fora variety for actors.

Background: Climate changes are a growing concern all over the world today. In June year 2006 the European Union accepted a new strategy for the Unions work against a sustainable development. The concept of taking consideration to all the aspects of an organisations/a company's activity is something that have been in focus during later years. Social and ethical aspects are in focus and questions regarding these aspects are more commonly included in the companies yearly reporting. A sustainability report is characterised by that it takes into account not only environmental aspects, like ordinary environmental reports, but also social and ethical aspects of a company's activity with it's surroundings.

A pavement construction designed to cope with the different type of traffic loads; it is exposed to and at the same time it can resist the effect of the climate. A road structure consists of sub- and superstructure which is divided by a boundary known as terrace. During the construction of unbound layers (base course and sub-base course) in the superstructure, it is always ensured that the material meet the requirements for bearing capacity and the degree of compaction. These parameters are controlled by various laboratory tests and control methods. To obtain increased knowledge of the material and improve the quality of the compaction in the field, it is necessary to perform laboratory tests in order to determine material properties.A base course material 0/ 32 mm limestone from Gotland (Hejdeby) was investigated in this study.

SkolanKlassrummenProjektet har till stor del utgått från klassrummen som är skolans i utbildningssyfte viktigaste enhet. I och med att lärarens roll har förändrats från en förmedlande roll bakom katedern till en handledande roll mitt i klassrummet så har önskemålen på klassrummen också förändrats. Jag har valt att bryta upp det rektangulära klassrummets hierarki och istället tillämpa ett kvadratiskt klassrum på 8x8 meter. I anslutning till varje klassrum som har getts utsikt över den lugnaste platsen i området ? eklunden ? finns både grupprum och uteplats.

It is therefore reasonable to predict increasing incidence and prevalence of pressure ulcers. One study, published 2009, found that as many as 59 % of geriatric patients within the Swedish health care system had developed pressure ulcers. Symptoms vary from mild erythema to severe deep tissue damage and development of pressure varies from hours to weeks.

The shopping mall is a reflection of the city and its habitants, a concentrate of the modern city. I have studied the dialogues of malls and the communication within, how malls are put together and what they communicate. The city is constantly changing. As soon as we try to grasp the city, it slips away. My opinion is that city planners and landscape architects need to widen their views. City planning needs to develop to better fit to the changes of our modern cities.

Sweden has almost 600 000 hectares planted with lodgepole pine, and large areas are soon ready to be clear-felled. The provenances that have been planted are producing high level of permanently closed, so called serotinous, cones. In their natural setting, the Canadian boreal forest, these cones are opened mainly after crown fires when the heat make the resin between the cone scales melt, which releases the seeds. This is viewed as an adaption to the fire regimes that prevail over the natural distribution area of lodgepole pine. Because of the short flame-exposure that occurs in a crown fire, the seeds can survive.

Contemporary plant design can be examined by how it relates to two extremes - Nature and Art. This idea is explained by Noel Kingsbury in the book The Dynamic Landscape where he places designers and their projects on a gradient (Kingsbury, 2004). Nature, one of the extremes can be represented by a dynamic, species-rich plant design with native species and with nature as the ideal. The other extreme - Art implies a more static view on plant design. Here, the designs consist of colourful flowers, exotic species and cultivars with double flowers.

The veterinary handling of wildlife, both in zoos and in the wild, commonly requires that the patients need to be captured and immobilized for examination or treatment. This emphasises the need for quick, on-site, laboratory equipment, in order to minimize the analysis time and thus the stress for the animal and also in order to increase the possibility of starting relevant treatment early on. The aim of this pilot study was to determine whether Serum Amyloid A (SAA) could be a measured in blood samples from bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus), Asian elephants (Elephas maximus) and South American tapirs (Tapirus terrestris). SAA rises to its maximum about 24 hours after the introduction of an inflammatory agent in companion animals. This also correlates with the estimated time it takes for animals at Kolmården Wildlife Park to be examined and having blood samples collected after being observed as sick. The study also evaluated whether the Eurolyser SOLO, using a turbidometric immunoassay (TIA) developed for human diagnostics, could be used for such analysis. This pilot study was a retrospective analysis of SAA in convenience sampled frozen serum, collected from dolphins, elephants and tapirs.

Syftet med examensarbetet var att följa upp tillredningens salvor genom att mäta indriften före och efter skrotning och sedan analysera mätdata. LKAB Malmberget har ett behov av att följa upp sprängsalvor för att kunna förbättra och effektivisera driften av orter. Målen med examensarbetet har varit att undersöka om längden på borrstängerna, antalet hål i borrplanen och om gaveln befinner sig i malm eller gråberg påverkar det behövda skrotningsarbetet. Arbetet har innefattat litteraturstudie av ortdrivning och dess processer, fem veckors fältstudie vid tillredningen i LKAB Malmberget där insamling av mätdata skedde, analys, jämförelse och slutligen dokumentering i rapportform. Tillredningen är det första steget i utvinningen av malm.

Pappers- och massaindustrin stod år 2010 för 52 procent av den svenska industrins energianvändning, vilket motsvarade 76 TWh. Detta gör branschen intressant ur ett energieffektiviseringsperspektiv då små åtgärder kan leda till stora besparingar.Fiskeby Board AB är ett företag som tillverkar kartong baserad på returfiber. Då torkning- samt bestrykningsprocessen står för 2/3 av företagets energibehov föreligger intresse att använda energin på ett bättre sätt för att minska energibehovet och därav minska sina kostnader. Syftet med denna rapport var således att genomföra en energikartläggning av tork- samt bestrykningspartiet och utifrån resultaten presentera åtgärder för att minska energibehovet. Arbetet utfördes genom mätningar av lufttemperaturer och flöden, beräkningar, litteraturstudier samt intervjuer.

Aquaponics is a food production system consisting of a consecutive cultivation of plants and aquatic animals, fish or shellfish, in recirculating water. The plants feed on the nutritious effluents from the fish tank and bacteria converts ammonia from the fish tank into nitrate that is absorbed by the plants. The plants receive nutrition and the fish gain purified water. The environmental impact of the production of fish meal and fish oil used in conventional fish feed includes a large consumption of fossil fuels with subsequent carbon dioxide emission. The aquaponic system can be made environmentally sustainable and self-supporting if supplemented with a vermicompost/vermiculture for the production of worm protein as a fish feed. Vegetable waste from the hydroponic part of the system can be reused as worm feed in the compost and the protein rich worms can be harvested, dried and grinded and brought back to the aquaculture as fish feed. As a first step in this direction, I have investigated the effect of recycling of vegetable waste in vermicomposts on the growth and number of earthworms (this was evaluated after harvesting). The hypotheses were that earthworms can be cultivated in the vegetable waste and that by adding manure to the vermicompost it is possible to obtain a nutrient content adequate to support a continuous worm harvest, in other words create a vermiculture. Eisenia fetida and Dendrobaena veneta were grown in 20 L bins containing peat mixed with either poultry or cattle manure. The proportions were 70% peat and 30 % manure. Discarded plant parts from lettuce cultivation was added to the vermicomposts (35 g per week) and water was supplied with 0.8 L per week.

I takt med att energipriserna stiger och resultatet av rådande klimatbelastningen blir allt tydligare så finns det flera starka anledningar att minska energianvändningen. ICA har som mål att minska de direkta utsläppen av växthusgaser med minst 30 % till år 2020 jämfört med år 2006. Examensarbetet behandlar två delar med ett gemensamt syfte; att arbeta fram åtgärder som kan minska energianvändningen och energikostnaderna för kylda lager. Detta gjordes genom en fallstudie på ICA DE Borlänge, vilket är ett av ICAs sex lager på svensk mark. Den ena delen av arbetet är en energiutredning där verksamhetens energianvändning kartlagts och med detta som underlag presenteras sedan ett antal åtgärdsförslag.

This thesis work has been performed at the Division of Assembly Technology at Linköping University for a period of ten weeks. The work is part of the project ProFlexA, which is a research project in collaboration between Linköping University, Lund University, and industrial partners such as Combi Wear Parts and Smålands Stålgjuteri AB.The casting process creates random incurred burrs and defects, which must be removed during a cleaning process to make sure that the cast can be sold. Automation has long been sought for the cleaning of castings due to, among other things, poor working conditions for staff, but this has proved difficult to implement with today's technology. Automation has for some time been available for more capital strong companies with large annual volumes, but for smaller companies with small-and medium-sized volumes, automation has not been an option.The goal of ProFlexA is to develop an automated cleaning cell aimed at small-and medium-sized volumes.The goal of the thesis is to do a pre study at ProFlexA?s partners on cleaning of castings, and develop concepts for automated cleaning of castings.By recording the process and cycle times, the cleaning of castings has been documented as it works today, and on this basis, information and statistics has been compiled.
