The aim of this master's thesis is to describe the role of language and culture as ethnical identification factors and illustrate how these have been used as political weapons by the Serb regime in Kosovo during the last decade. The thesis discusses the concept of ethnicity, the relations between the politics of identity, nationalism, ethnic mobilization and the importance of language and culture. Kosovo has historically been characterized by severe ethnic antagonism between Serbs and Albanians. Different languages, cultures and religions beside political processes led to ethnic cleavages that paved the way for ethnocentrism, ethnonationalism, chauvinism, ethnic cleansing and civil war. Since 1989, the Serbian authorities have intervened in all important spheres of life, in an attempt to Serbianize Kosovo.

Klimatförändringar befaras ge en mängd olika konsekvenser för samhället. Ökade översvämningsrisker är bara en av dessa. De ökade översvämningsriskerna kommer att påverka den möjliga markanvändningen och många områden som idag anses säkra att bebygga och odla kommer att bli riskzoner för översvämning i ett framtida klimat. I samhällets anpassningsprocess ligger nödvändigheten att skydda befintlig bebyggelse men också att kunna lokalisera ny bebyggelse, odling och infrastruktur till säkra zoner. Den kommunala fysiska planeringen har styrmedel som kan påverka bebyggelsens placering och utformning.

The purpose of this master?s thesis is to investigate how librarians approach to the multicultural collection development and which methods they use in providing library materials in minority languages. The questions to be answered are: which methods the libraries use when purchasing library materials in minority languages, how the respondents experience that the minority user groups needs are met in the library and how the multicultural competence of the staff is used in the libraries. For this purpose the qualitative interviews with 6 librarians in Gothenburg are conducted, mainly from the libraries in the immigrant-dense parts of the city, while the study being concentrated on 6 language groups of library users. The study?s theoretical framework is based on theories of multiculturalism, culture, identity and bilingualism.

The number of people that are categorized as being homeless in the Swedish society are increasing. This might be an indication that the methods being used today shows not to be working efficient enough. A group of researchers connected to the University of Lund are now in a process to spread new workingmethods against the problems with homelessness in Sweden. Their goal is to completely erase homelessness as a social problem. This new method of working is distinctively different from the one currently beeing used.

This masters thesis aims at a discussion about whether the public library will be an educating and cultivating society institution in the future. The method used is a combination of interviews with library staff in leading position and studies of the public librarys relationship to cultivation and adult education in a changeable society. The work concentrates on two main questions. One is about what, and in which way, changes, that are important for the public library and that take place in society now or within the next ten years, affect the future activities of the library. The other is about the public librarys relationship to cultivation in general and in the future.

ABSTRACT This research explores how the Work Integration Center (AIC) supports unemployed immigrants in acquiring jobs and how the practical work helps immigrants in entering the labour market. It employs qualitative research approach through semi-structured interviews staff members at AIC and municipal commissioners of education and labour market in the municipality of Malmö. Its aim is to examine how governmental setup guidelines were represented in the practical work. These guiding principles of the organization are presented at the top of municipality. The findings suggest that even if the staff has no knowledge of the official measures of the integration plans, they have implemented the aims and criteria in their work with the immigrants.

Utifrån nyckelbegreppen interkulturalitet och internationalitet har vi skrivit en uppsats om huruvida en lyckad integration kan vara möjlig att uppnå via dessa begrepp. Syftet är att undersöka hur lärare hanterar den segregation vi har i vårt samhälle, i sin undervisning. Vi har tittat närmare på om och hur de verkar för integration samt hur de hanterar eventuella konflikter i skolvardagen, konflikter som kan vara relaterade till rädsla och fördomar för det okända. För att kunna besvara vårt syfte, har vi utgått från en teoretisk grund. Denna vilar på en litteraturstudie kring språksociologiska teorier, teorier kring läroplanen samt teorier kring dagens mångkulturella samhälle.

The purpose of this essay was to examine whether there were any differences in social workers way of investigating boys and girls, age 13-15. The main questions we wanted to answer were; which were the factors that the social workers focused on? Did the investigations lead to a measure and if so, which one? How were risk and protection factors described and ana-lysed?To answer our questions we read and analyzed 22 reports, written by social workers 2004 at the department for teenagers and families at a social welfare service in Sweden. We came to the conclusion that there were some differences, but these were few and not extensive. Recreational activities was mentioned in a higher degree in the boys reports while health, housing conditions and network were mentioned more often in the girl´s reports.

Syftet med den här uppsatsen har varit att genom kvalitativ metod undersöka vilka argument som förekommer i dagstidningars - Dagens Nyheter och Svenska Dagbladet - debattartiklar och insändare om konfessionella friskolor i relation till och i en diskussion om skollagen och värdegrunden i läroplanerna. Jag har utifrån detta syfte genomfört en litteraturöversikt, som introducerat och orienterat mig i det som tidigare har skrivits inom ämnesområdet. Jag har utgått ifrån två frågeställningar som jag har sökt svar på i min undersökning: vilka argument förekommer i debattartiklarna och insändarna och hur förhåller sig argumenten i debattartiklarna och insändarna till skollagen och värdegrunden i läroplanerna? Jag har kommit fram till att valfriheten, det vill säga föräldrarnas och barnens rätt till att välja skola, har stor betydelse som argument för konfessionella friskolor. Föräldrarnas och barnens rättigheter kan dock bli motstridiga i förhållande till internationella konventioner, nationella lagar och värdegrunden i skolan.

ABSTRACTIn this study, five people were interviewed who are involved in a drug-assisted program for opiate addiction, also called substitution program. The meaning of substitution is that these clients' drug addiction is replaced with substitute preparations, either methadone or Subutex in an orderly manner. The clients of the researcher decided to study the substitution program have all been a heavy opiate addiction for years. Their participation in the replacement program is more than two years, and those who have been around the longest have been in the program for six years, so long as the substitution program has existed in Visby.This is a qualitative study in which interviews are conducted face to face with each individual client, and the interview was unstructured in the sense that no specific issues made in advance. The interviews have been themed, and the researcher has gone through various areas of life around the respondent.

Fler och fler barn flyttar utomlands på grund av föräldrars arbete. Många av de flyttar med sina föräldrar i tidigt ålder och förflyttningen sker under hela barn- och ungdosåren.. Av den anledningen ligger intresset i att undersöka detta fenomen. Syftet me denna studie var att undersöka svenska elever som av olika anledningar studerar på svenska skolan utomlands och framförallt undersöka de bakomliggande faktorer vid val av skola och erfarenheter på den svenska skolan bortom Sveriges gränser. Under denna undersökning befann jag mig på plats vid en skandinavisk skola i Europa.

In the beginning of the twentieth century in Sweden the laboring class grew and became more established. This entailed both a change in housing conditions and the design of the social policies. The purpose of this study is to show how the Child Welfare Committee in Kalmar conducted its work during 1911-1918. The aim is to show on what grounds they made their decisions and how the interaction between the committee and the families functioned in practice. This will be accomplished by giving examples from the protocols written by Kalmar?s Child Welfare Committee.

Uppsatsen presenterar och problematiserar tre integrationsprojekt på Herrgården i Rosengård. Den frågeställning som växte fram lyder: Hur ska man effektivisera integrationsprojekt för att kunna uppnå bättre och snabbare resultat? Uppsatsens primära syfte är att visa på viktiga nyckelfaktorer och arbetssätt som spelar stor roll vid integration. Vilka faktorer ska man tänka på, och hur ska man kommunicera ut projektet, vilka kanaler ska man använda. I uppsatsen försöker jag skapa förståelse för vad som är viktigt att tänka på vid konstruktion och tillämpning av integrationsprojekt, samt hur man kan anpassa integrationsprojekt till befolkningen.

Stockholm är en växande stad och för att bemöta det behov av bostäder som expansionen medför, krävs att befintliga fastigheter utvecklas och får nya, bättre anpassade ändamål. Det är framförallt viktigt att utveckla de fastigheter som är belägna i attraktiva områden med pågående stadsutveckling eller goda möjligheter för ny stadsutveckling.Denna rapport behandlar utvecklingen av Vandenbergh 9, ett kontorskomplex från tidigt 1970-tal till ett modernt bostadshus. Rapporten resulterar i förslagshandlingar över hur den invändiga gestaltningen kan komma att se ut. Förslaget följer alla de lagar, stadgar och rekommendationer som idag ställs för byggnation i Sverige.Detta resulterade i sex individuella plan, men för att främja hållbart och rationellt byggande har ett stort fokus lagts på modulbyggande. In order to reach the environmental targets, set up by the EU, there are many measures taken to make Sweden more energy efficient. In the housing and real estate sector, an installation of an exhaust air heat pump that reuses the heat in the exhaust air in order to lower the amount of acquired energy, is an example of such an action. The recovered energy can then be used for heating of radiators and tap water. This report aims to evaluate and compare three different systems using exhaust air heat pumps regarding COP, degree of coverage and cost savings. This study was delimited to only account for apartment buildings.The theory chapter describes the different conditions and factors that affect a building?s energy balance.
