Physiotherapists treat people with different views of the world and medical beliefs, which require a good understanding of cultural differences. One way to achieve cultural understanding is through self-reflection in a new context. During five weeks the authors, two physiotherapy students, completed a clinical practice at the rehabilitation center Pina Palmera, Zipolite, Oaxaca, Mexico. At the beginning of the period a critical incident was chosen, when the head physiotherapist for the ward Cuidados Especiales intended to sell jewellery to the authors during a treatment of a patient. The authors have by using the reflection framework "Framework to guide reflective process", and Interpretive Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) for analysis, discussed different ways of communication, adherence, education, and self-reflection and critical thinking.

When we take the role of another we not only learn about them but also we learn about ourselves and how we interact with other people.  Social work in this form, working with directly with families in crises, is much about understanding other people?s perspective and feelings. The study concerns the history and development of hospitallibraries in Sweden in the beginning of the 1900 century.Focus is on the 1930 decade, the time of major expansionof the area. The study is based on study of literature, mainlyfrom articles but also from a few booklets from the time.The purpose of the study is to find out how the librarieswere described in the literature of the time and which goalsand tasks they had. It is also to make it possible to increaseunderstanding of the history of hospital libraries, using it asan inspirational source for development of today´s businessin a time of major change. The result of the study showsthat those goals and ideas are still valid and serve well as aninspirational basis for development of today´s hospitallibraries..

When nursing human patients during hospitalization, the nurse is the one responsible. The nursing is controlled by different models of nursing and careplans, shaped by every patient?s individual needs. This is to guarantee the quality of the care. The veterinary nurse is not ultimately responsible for patient care.

Background: Pervious research indicates that communication between patient and nurse has shortcomings. For the nurse, difficulties in care giving may emerge when the nurse and patient cannot understand each other. Research also shows that patients? participation in their care become more difficult by lack of communication. The care giving of patients who speak a different language is seen as a challenge by the nurse.

Abstract:Job satisfaction has great significance for nurses. The job is very demanding and requires a great deal of responsibility. Low job satisfaction and organisation changes affect their work negatively. The aim of the study was to investigate the nurses? job satisfaction and job situation.

Palliativ vård benämns ofta som vård vid livets slutskede och förekommer i hemmet, på hospice, palliativa enheter eller sjukhus. År 2003 avled ca 35 000 personer av 80 000 avlidna på sjukhus i Sverige. Palliativ vård är en komplex omvårdnadssituation då sjuksköterskor behöver bemöta såväl patientens som de närståendes behov. Närstående har behov av ett individuellt anpassat stöd och önskar mer information och delaktighet i vården. Kommunikationen kan för sjuksköterskorna upplevas som svårt och stressande.

Bakgrund: Baby Friendly Hospital Initiativ bygger på Tio steg till lyckad amning och lanserades år 1991 i Sverige. Efter detta sågs en ökning av amningsfrekvensen. Nu 20 år efter införandet av Tio steg till lyckad amning sjunker amningsfrekvensen. Studier har visat att amningsutfallet påverkas av hur amningen initieras samt det stöd kvinnan får från vårdpersonal, partner och närstående. Syfte: Syftet med denna studie var att beskriva nyblivna mödrars erfarenheter av förberedelse och initiering av amning.

Patients with COPD (chronically obstuctive pulmonary disease) often experience acute episodes of the disease. On these occasions it is usual that the ambulance nurse is the patients first contact in the care. The purpose of this study is to describe patients' experiences in acute condition of the disease COPD and the Pre-hospital nursing. The method was systematic literature review with content analysis. The results show four prominent themes on the basis of patients' experiences.

Upplevelsen av mötet med akutsjukvården kan vara komplicerad på grund av att det ofta handlar om snabba korta möten där patienterna kan befinna sig i en kris. För att mötet med patienterna ska bli så bra som möjligt är det viktigt att vårdpersonalen har kunskap om hur patienterna upplever mötet med akutsjukvården. Syftet med studien var att få en djupare förståelse för patienters upplevelse av mötet med akutsjukvården. En litteratur studie med kvalitativ ansats gjordes. Studien resulterade i två stycken kategorier positiva och negativa upplevelser.

Flera forskare anser att bloggen är ett verktyg som har god pedagogisk potential i skolan (Clyde 2005; Ray 2006; Ward 2004). Syftet med studien ?Gå in på bloggen så får du se ditt barn som gör ditten och datten?- en studie av bloggen som pedagogiskt verktyg i skolan är att undersöka hur lärare i grundskolans tidigare årskurser använder sig av klassbloggar samt hur de resonerar kring användandet av bloggen i skolan. Vår teoretiska utgångspunkt grundar sig i ett sociokulturellt perspektiv på lärande. En kvalitativ undersökning genomfördes i form av semistrukturerade intervjuer med lärare i Ystad kommun.

A thesis directed towards Innovationsslussen in Gothenburg about securing, improving and simplifying sitting on the toilet for patients with sitting difficulties. The primary target group for the project is patients who have had a stroke and as a consequence from that suffers from various kind of bodily paralysis.An overall goal was to design an aid that was comprehensive enough that the patient could manage sitting securely on the toilet without have a nurse giving physical support during defecation.Five conceptual proposals were developed and evaluated in consultation with Innovationsslussen and one was selected to be further developed.The result was an integrated support at the toilet that facilitates a good sitting posture which minimizes the risk of falling and provides comfortable support when leaning to the side. The product is divided in two with both a redesigned carryingsystem and a new type of support surface adapted for the purpose..

Snart kan alla göra privata rymdresor. Då detta är en helt ny äventyrsindustri uppstår också helt nya krav på de kläder som kan användas vid träning och genomförande. Syftet med denna uppsats är att undersöka hur material och dess funktion samt estetiska aspekter kan förenas i ett textilt uttryck avsett för dessa extrema förhållanden. Genom intervjuer med äventyraren och kommande resenären Renata Chlumska, Spaceport Swedens VD Karin Nilsdotter och hållbarhetsansvarig Johan Ward från H&M definierades en kravspecifikation som fick ligga till grund för uppsatsen. Kraven för de kläder som ska bäras under själva rymdresan är ej ännu definierade, varför det i slutsatsen endast redovisas kläder som kan komma att användas vid träningen inför resan.
