Today the right of the child to participate freely in cultural life and the arts is a goal on the political agenda. As a consequence, in 2011, twenty-six government agencies and institutions of culture were assigned to formulate strategies for activities for children and young people. These strategies are the empirical basis of this thesis. The aim of the study is to elaborate and problematize three issues concerning children?s culture from the viewpoint of a social constructionist understanding of childhood as constructed in various, often political, practices.

This study investigates communication and data in information systems. The paper deals, more specificly, with communication in a CRM-system implemented in a Swedish-founded company in Beijing, China. It discusses cultural, political, linguistic and gender based dilemmas that can arise from the use of a CRM-system in an international and bilingual environment. Fifty-nine interviews were conducted in Sweden and in China, either in Swedish or English. The result of this study shows that communication in the information system is affected by factors, that are not originated in technical shortcomings of the system, but rather from cultural, political, linguistic and gender based pre-knowledge among individuals.

Denna studie behandlar hur den tyska nationella kulturen pÄverkar organisationskulturen i tyska dotterbolag med verksamhet i Sverige. Antropologen Geert Hofstedes studie om kulturdimensioner samt forskning inom samma omrÄde har legat till grunden för teoridelen. Den existerande forskningen har kompletterats med en fallstudie pÄ fyra tyska dotterbolag i Sverige, dÀr fyra intervjupersoner har bidragit med sin erfarenhet. Den insamlade datan har analyserats för att se hur nationell kultur pÄverkar organisationskultur. Datan har sedan analyserats utifrÄn tidigare forskning gjord pÄ samma omrÄde.

The aftermath of colonization, culture diversity and the recognition of the ownidentity - living in a country which has the role of a former colonizer has got consequences in the multicultural French society. These consequences can be seen studying the politics, the education and the history of that country. In this bachelorthesis I discuss the aftermath of French colonization with a focus on how the French cultural identity can be explained in defining colonialism in French lawmaking. The aim is to understand the definition of the own cultural identity from a postcolonial perspective and what meaning the multicultural society has for this definition. This is an issue which can be seen in politics as well as ineveryday life, and to make an understanding of it, I study how French politicians are representing their country's role as a former colonizer in a postcolonial era.

Is there such a thing as unadulterated nature? All that surrounds us is culturally modified by man somewhere along our past. But culture is only a fictitious conception itself, created in an attempt to break the world into controllable objects.So in what do we find culture? In everything? SammanfattningMuseer har till uppgift att dokumentera, forska och samla in mÀnniskans och naturens lÀmningar för att berika kulturarvet och bidra med ny kunskap. Denna uppsats syftar till att lyfta fram diskussionen kring huruvida kulturarvet och kunskapsförmedlingen Àr könsneutral och hur den dolda genuskonstruktionen speglas i utstÀllningarna samt att studera hur ett genusperspektiv anvÀnds och integreras pÄ Tekniska Museet i Stockholm och Malmö Museer. Som empiriskt underlag ligger kvalitativa intervjuer med sammanlagt 8 representanter frÄn bÄda museerna. Den teoretiska basen bestÄr av teorier kring kultur, kulturarv och genus.

During the three first centuries A.D the cult to roman emperor was practiced over the absolute majority of the known world. It was based on the idea of the deified ruler, where religion was used as a way of legitimizing a social position of an absolute few. It arrived from below but was promoted and spread from above as a way of governmental control. During the same period of time did a new aristocratic social group emerge in remote Scandinavia that eagerly sought new ways to identify themselves and their newly found social standing. With a base consisting of an economic surplus they wanted to create an acceptance for their new way of life and thus in doing so change the very foundation and core beliefs of their own society.The central theme of this study is the cultural exchange that took place between these two cultural spheres and mainly of the effect that the cult to the roman emperor had on the emergence and identification process of the Scandinavian aristocracy..

Syftet med uppsatsen Àr att undersöka hur mÀnniskor upplever att stÀndigt vara tillgÀnglig med sin mobiltelefon och/eller Internet. En kvalitativ metod med semistrukturerade intervjuer har anvÀnts, dÀr tolv personer, sex gymnasieungdomar och sex vuxna personer, har intervjuats. HÀlften av de intervjuade bor i södra Sverige, hÀlften i norra. För analysen har McQuails grupperingar inom Uses and gratifications-teorin anvÀnts, liksom cultural studies teorier. Resultatet visar att de intervjuade ser det bÄde som en möjlighet och ett krav att vara tillgÀngliga och uppkopplade, att Internet och mobiltelefon verkar bidra till att arbete/skola och fritid flyter ihop samt att de Àldre intervjuade i nÄgot högre grad Àn de yngre upplever negativa aspekter av att vara stÀndigt tillgÀnglig.

The purpose of this qualitative research study is to examine if and how the teachers from a multicultural International School work with intercultural pedagogy. The school in question isprofiled and consists of both Swedish- and English classes. The study examines if and how the teachers related to the great variety of cultures and created opportunities for integration between the students and handling with values at school. It is important to be aware as a teacher to be able to take an active part in working towards a school that gives possibilities for different cultures to meet. If this is neglected, it may increase the risk of problems and cultural clashes between the students.

This essays overarching aim is to contribute to the theoretical discussion of transformation processes that are shaping the urban landscapes and further to problematize contemporary planning discourses in Sweden. Drawing on the concept of Foucault?s heterotopia and actor-network theory for spatial analysis, the paper seeks to analyze the complex urban landscape transformation process as an emergent property of human and non-human actor-networks seeking to transform and order space. With the district of Rosenlund in Gothenburg as a starting point, this thesis intends to examine how the cultural infrastructure - used by the residents and visitors of the city - are related to the city's planning and development processes. The case study is based on a boat (Rio Rio) in Rosenlund canal that is defined as a cultural infrastructure.

The study of culture is specifically relevant to libraries confronting changes. A variety of conditions makes it beneficial for libraries to understand the strengths as well as the weaknesses of the underlying culture. Such an understanding can help libraries in adjusting to changes easier, without losing the cultural values that they hold important to their identity and strategic strengths.Taking this as a starting point the purpose of this essay is to examine and describe what aspects in prevailing library cultures are important to pay attention to when meeting changes. The main purpose of this thesis is to examine how the European Union through the Directorate- General (DG) of Education and Culture, are calling forth a constructed sense of European identity amongst the citizens of the Union.It is a discourse analysis, which can be described in twofold. Firstly, it is a mapping of the European discourse; i.e. how the European Union defines the identity it seeks to mobilise. Secondly, it examines whether or not there are similarities in the European discourse of identity and the traditional nation-building discourse of national identity.According to this thesis a European identity is articulated in cultural terms, whereby its members are said to share the same values and a common cultural heritage.To bring the people of Europe closer together and to deepen awareness of their "common" history, the European Union encourages all manner of meetings and exchange schemes between Europeans. Although its goal is to develop a feeling of belonging to a shared culture, the EU is also keen to preserve the specific aspects of Europe's many cultures.

Uppsatsen Àr en kvalitativ studie av maktdistansen i den turkiska banksektorn. Syftet Àr att beskriva hur maktdistansen ser ut i den turkiska banksektorn. Intervjuer har genomförts med sex personer i olika positioner inom en turkisk bank. Den teoretiska utgÄngspunkten Àr Geert Hofstedes kulturdimensionsteori, mer specifikt den dimension som behandlar maktdistans. Tre egna begrepp har skapats med utgÄngspunkt i Hofstedes teori om maktdistans i arbetslivet.
