This is an empirical study of how the mathematical talk of adult learners constructs/reconstructs different mathematical discourses. The study is to be regarded as an attempt to develop a discursive approach within the field of mathematics education and to complicate the status of mathematics in education and in society in general. My theoretical underpinnings consist of three possible mathematical discourses ? coercive, regulative and emancipative mathematics. From a discursive psychology perspective, I let these discourses function as analytical interpretive repertoires in relation to the adult learners? rhetorical use of mathematics and their claiming of mathematical subject-positions, named the coerced, the self-regulating and the responsible mathematician.

The aim of the study was to gain a better understanding of how some people aged between 20-35 years? experience Facebook in relation to identity creation, communication and stress. The analysis is drawn from seven semi-structured interviews with a sample of Facebook members, four women and three men aged 20-35 years and during the interviews respondents answered questions based by the following topics. Does Facebook allow changing identities? In what way is Facebook a communication tool for enabling relationships? How can Facebook be related to stress and coping? The results showed that respondents perceived Facebook as an easy means of communication and maintaining relationships.

AbstractThis study deals with motivation as an overall concept, from a student perspective. It encompasses factors that could directly affect students and their positive or negative motivation, concepts such as relationships, communication, expectations and interactions and their importance to my informants.The study also discusses certain theories to show the different ways of defining motivation, specifically in relation to my informants and their and my conclusions. My ambition is to establish the importance of the concepts mentioned above, as well as perspective changes to the enhancement of the performance standards of a good teacher.The purpose of this work is to describe, understand and clarify the external and internal factors that affect motivation. In order to achieve this purpose, I chose to use a method of qualitative interviews with three students, with different backgrounds, schools and conditions but with a lack of motivation as a unifying characteristic. The research questions were as follows:What factors influence students' motivation?   What impact do achievement targets have in relation to the pupils? own motivation to learn?How important are teachers' expectations for the individual student's motivation?Within this study sub-concepts such as importance of expectations, relationships, and significant others are, according to my analysis, of great importance.

I Sverige dör de flesta människor på någon form av institution, vilket innebär att palliativ vård är en del av det vardagliga vårdarbetet. Studiens syfte var att belysa vårdarens möte med vuxna patienter med fokus på vårdarens omvårdnadskvaliteter i palliativ vård. Metoden som användes var litteraturstudie. Resultatet visar att mötet i palliativ vård utvecklas mest positivt om vårdaren har ett professionellt förhållningssätt och om relationen är tillitsfull. Det professionella förhållningssättet genomsyras av vårdarens empati, intresse för patienten och kommunikation mellan vårdare och patient, både verbal och icke-verbal.

Bakgrund: Att som sjuksköterska delta i palliativ vård ställer stora krav på kunskap och empatisk förmåga. I vårdmöten mellan sjuksköterska och patient med dennes anhöriga är vissa faktorer och problemställningar särskilt viktiga för sjuksköterskan att vara medveten om. Syftet: Studiens syfte är att belysa vårdmöten mellan sjuksköterska och patient med dennes anhöriga inom den palliativa vården på hospis. Metod: Litteraturstudien. Resultat: Resultatet har redovisats utifrån följande teman: kommunikation (inklusive samtal), känslor och relation.

Bakgrund: Sjuksköterskan är skyldig att arbeta för patientdelaktighet enligt lagar och författningar. Begreppet patientdelaktighet tolkas olika och en klar definition saknas vilket medför svårigheter att implementera och utvärdera patientdelaktighet. Syfte: Att genom en litteraturöversikt belysa vad patientdelaktighet innebär för patienter och sjuksköterskor. Metod: Litteraturöversikten, som endast inkluderar kvalitativa studier, är inspirerad av Goodmans sju steg för litteratursökning och sammanställning av evidensbaserad forskning inom hälso- och sjukvård. Litteratursökningen utfördes i databaserna PubMed, CINAHL och PsycINFO. Totalt kvalitetsgranskades 19 artiklar, varav 10 inkluderades. Resultat: Fyra grundläggande teman utifrån patient- och sjuksköterskeperspektivet identifierades utgöra patientdelaktighet: informera, kommunicera, lära känna varandra samt etablera en relation. Slutsats: Genom att informera, att kommunicera, att lära känna varandra samt att etablera en relation uppnås patientdelaktighet..

In Sweden we are spared from large natural disasters. However, in January 2005 part of Sweden was struck by a hurricane. It did not only leave a decimated landscape in its wake. It also left its mark on many people who lived in the south of Sweden. In this paper the reader will be presented six qualitative interviews that build on forestowners' experiences during and in the aftermath of the Storm of January 2005.

Syftet med denna uppsats är att fokusera de queera ögonblicken i J.R.R. Tolkiens trilogi The Lord of the Rings för att visa att det queera finns i kulturen på samma sätt som det icke-queera. När är de två hobbitarna Frodos och Sams relation queer? Vad gör den queer? Hur kan vi förstå denna queerhet i termer av homosocialitet och homoerotik? Uppsatsen är inspirerad av Tiina Rosenbergs queera läsningar, jag använder mig dessutom av Adrienne Richs teori om "lesbisk kontinuitet" och Sedgwicks resonemang om manligt homosocialt begär. Jag har kommit fram till att Frodos och Sams relation rör sig mellan mer och mindre queerhet.

This Master?s thesis is an analysis of metaphors in relation to actors, and of discourses used in the copyright-debate in two major Swedish daily newspapers and one American: Göteborgs-Posten, Svenska Dagbladet and New York Times during the years 2001-2006. We aim to answer the following questions: Which metaphors were being used in the copyright-debate to create the archetypal villain, hero, winner and loser in editorials, debate and letters to the editor in the three newspapers? Which discourses did those metaphors relate or conform to? Which similarities or differences could be found when comparing the two countries? newspapers regarding representations and constructions of villains, heroes, winners and losers in the copyright-debate? Firstly we distinguished who the actors in the debate were, following parts of Theo van Leeuwen?s actors? analysis. Secondly we distinguished which metaphors were being used to describe the actors as either villains, heroes, winners or losers.

Jag har genomfört en kvalitativ studie om elevens upplevelser och habitus i relation till att bli tilldelad ett åtgärdsprogram i år 9. Syftet är att ta reda på hur eleven och dess omgivning upplever det när eleven får ett åtgärdsprogram och vilka förväntningar både eleven och föräldrarna har. Genom öppna intervjuer har jag samlat in data från sex elever i en skola i Mellansverige. Min studie stöder sig mot Bourdieus teori om att individers värderingar och beteenden formas av sin närmaste omgivning. Resultatet visar att eleverna överlag blir motiverade att ta tag i sina studier för att nå ett godkänt betyg, förutsatt att de inte sedan tidigare har ett flertal åtgärdsprogram.

This investigation is aimed to analyze and gain insight into how young people of the "second generation immigrants" identify themselves in a society where they are seen as immigrants of the environment in view of the name. Also, how they identify themselves during trips to their home/country of origin are of relevance to see if they are affected in their own identification, depending on how they believe they are seen from the outside.Through a survey, the statistics were produced, which serves as a preliminary to the larger part of the investigation where six individuals were interviewed in order to give deeper answers to the questions sought. The answers that emerged were then analyzed in relation to selected theories.In connection with the investigation it has emerged that the young people in question often identify themselves in such a way that they think that the surroundings look at them. It is in relation to how others see them as they see themselves, which creates a distance between the surroundings and themselves. With increased knowledge on both sides, this distance between the environment and the young people in this investigation maybe could reduce..

Föreliggande studie syftar till att undersöka och analysera vilka utbildningsmässiga och organisatoriska förutsättningar som socialarbetarna upplever att det finns för att tillgodose stödbehoven för den som upplevt våld i en HBT-relation. Syftet är vidare att undersöka och analysera socialarbetarnas beskrivningar och föreställningar kring begreppen makt, normer och värderingar kopplat till det praktiska arbetet med våld i HBT-relationer. Studien har en fenomenografisk ansats och bygger på intervjuer med socialarbetare som arbetar med våld i nära relation. Maktperspektiv har använts som teoretisk referensram i studien. Av resultatet framkommer att både de egna och samhällets normer och värderingar har stor påverkan på bemötandet i det praktiska arbetet.

The purpose of this study is to examine whether there is any connection between working hours, desired working hours and the worker ?s health. The study also aims to investigate if there are any differences over time. Earlier studies have shown that individuals need a balance in their life between worked hours and free time. This balance seems to be important for employees if they want to lead and remain a healthy lifestyle.

The aim of this study was to investigate how the position of the preschool teacher could come across in interviews with six teachers about their assignment to document and evaluate the preschool activity. The research done so far in this area shows that it can be a complex and difficult part of the preschool teachers work. A dilemma often described is how the teachers can be able to analyze and document the children´s learning with the aim to evaluate and develop the preschool activity without judging and mapping the children. A special focus of the study was to see how the methods and dsicourses described by the teachers possibly could affect the teachers´s position in the area of documentation and evaluation. To analyze the empirical data Ernesto Laclau (1935-2014) & Chantal Mouffe´s discourse theory was used, a prespective witch also figured to be the theoretical foundation of the master thesis.

Syftet med denna studie var att undersöka på vilket sätt uppfattningar om undervisning och lärande i relation till Internetanvändning i skolan skiljer sig mellan gymnasieelever som går yrkesförberedande och som går studieförberedande program. Sammanlagt 55 elever i en gymnasieskola ingick i studien. Datainsamlingen bestod av enkäter. Studiens resultat visade att fler elever i båda grupperna ansåg att Internetanvändning har en positiv inverkan på undervisning och lärande än de som ansåg att inverkan är obetydlig. Ingen elev ansåg att lärande påverkas negativt och en elev ansåg att undervisningen påverkas negativt av Internetanvändning.
