Background: Employees acting towards company goals and having a strong desire to remain in the organisation are very important for the success of a company. In order to generate such organisational commitment of the employees, the knowledge about what motivates and satisfies them is essential. Purpose: The purpose of this thesis is to investigate and analyse the factors which motivate employees, under consideration of individual characteristics. Limitation: Age, gender, marital status, work area, position and the years a person has been working in the company represent the individual characteristics examined in this study. Realisation: Literature research as well as a practical survey consisting of mail questionnaires and personal interviews were carried out in order to best serve the purpose of this thesis.

This paper deals with diet and gender in the early roman iron age in Sweden. Human bone and tooth material from the Iron Age cemetery at Bjärby in Kastlösa parish on the island of Öland have been analysed for stable carbon and nitrogen isotopes. 21 individuals were sampled. Where possible 4 samples were taken from each individual, from the first, second and third molar respectively and from one compact bone. By doing so it is possible, at least in theory, to trace intra-individual diets throughout life.

The aim of this study was to investigate how four families in the Stockholm area reason, what kind of preconception they have and what their horizon of expectations is when they make the choice between sending their children to the profile class of municipal/free schools and sending them to the general classes in those schools. The main research questions asked were:What kind of preconception do the parents have about profile classes?What reasons do the interviewed parents have to send their children to a profile class?What are the interviewed parent?s expectations of the profile class choice?The study is built on qualitative interviews with the parents of the families. The empirical data has been analyzed using a framework of theories drawing on the theory of reproduction, the forms of social capital, the ideas created from the word profile and elite and the horizon of expectations. The results show that the parents of the families have a similar degree of preconception about profile classes.

The Swedish system of rent control has recieved a lot of critique for creating an ill-functioning housing market. Supporters however claim that a movement towards market rents would lead to increased segregation. We evaluate whether rent control has managed to counteract segregation in Stockholm. Our evaluation is based on a data set of 292 representative households in Stockholm. We find that residents in rent controlled apartments in attractive locations typically are born in Sweden by Swedish parents and that they are likely to have a higher income than residents in rent controlled apartments in less attractive locations.

Syftet med den här uppsatsen var att ta reda på lärarstudenters syn på ämnet svenska som andraspråk eller närmare vilka faktorer som påverkade beslutet i val av ämne samt vilka orsaker var de främsta att lärarstudenter valde/inte valde att utbilda sig i svenska som andraspråk.För att få svar på mina frågeställningar har en kvalitativ enkätsundersökning använts där öppna frågor ställdes till lärarstudenter.Undersökningsresultat visar att faktorer som påverkade lärarstudenters val av ämne var intresset för ämnet, barnens ålder, flexibelt jobb, eget modersmål och intagningskravet var de mest nämnda. Resultatet visar vidare att intresset för att bli lärare i svenska som andraspråk var stort dock var lärarstudenter bara beredda på att läsa högst en termin för att bli detta. Lärarstudenter tyckte även att ämnet är viktigt och nödvändigt men att det fortfarande har låg status. Själva lärarstudenterna hade ingen eller lite kompetens i ämnet.Slutsatserna som dras är att ämnet fortfarande används som ett resursämne och därför har låg status vilket i sin tur leder till att få lärarstudenter utbildar sig i detta viktiga ämne..

Presently Sjöfartsverket do their maintenance according to a standard program, which means that every maintenance task will be done when the task limit occurs. This leads to a very long downtime for the aircraft in some occasions and very short downtime in others. The goal with this work is to reach a higher regularity of the aircraft operation. To reach a higher regularity for the operational needs, this work will present a hypothetic better maintenance concept for Swedish Maritime Administration. The concept is based on equalized maintenance structure, which means that every maintenance occasions are meant to take the same time to perform.

Volvo Human Monitoring (VHM) is an ongoing project at Volvo Cars where they measure, amongst other parameters, inhalation and exhalation through a device called Respiratory Inductance Plethysmograph (RIP), on drivers. RIP measures changes in the cross-sectional area of the chest and abdomen. When the driver is in motion, such as when she is turning the vehicle, the cross-sectional area changes and noise in the RIP signal may arise.The noise results in a large number of manual adjustments in the analysis of the RIP signal, which is very time consuming and the validity of the device for measuring inhalation and exhalation is questioned.The purpose of this study was to improve the efficiency of the analysis of the RIP signal. The goal was to create a new data processing tool in Matlab that automatically detects inhalation and exhalation from a RIP signal with higher validity compared to the previous data processing tool.In this study, nine tests were performed on drivers while they were driving in different scenarios such as highway, country road and in city traffic. Inhalation and exhalation was measured using a RIP, a pneumotachograph with a tightly sealed facemask and a thermocouple placed between the nose and mouth, which was used as reference to the RIP.The result of this study was a data processing tool that automatically detects inhalation and exhalation with higher validity compared to the previous data processing tool.

This paper examines the impact of conscious shelf management on online grocery stores. An S-O-R framework is used to unveil if some established shelf management techniques from physical stores are applicable in an online context. We also explain some of the cognitive processes customers experience as they get exposed to online buying situations. A main study with two data sources is conducted: one quantitative website experiment with 168 participants who got exposed to five different organisation patterns within five different categories; and one more qualitative eye tracking experiment with 20 participants. The results indicate that a disorganised product page evokes not only different scan paths and cognitive patterns but also generates higher sales.

In this thesis we propose a conceptual plan for thedevelopment of an Agroforestry Training Centre (ATC)in Musoma, Tanzania. The aim is to make a proposalto support peasant education in agroforestry. How canan ATC in Musoma be developed into a stimulatingand educational park suitable for teaching agroforestrymethods to peasant farmers and other potential users?To answer that a field study was conducted to investigatehow our client Vi Agroforestry Programme (Vi) and thetarget groups of the client can benefit from the site.The thesis begins with a short explanation of thecontext, in which the ATC plays a part followed by amethodology chapter. Next are three chapters presentedwhich introduce the reader to the research conductedbefore starting the proposal, these include: results ofliterature studies, study of precedents, and results of fieldstudy.

Syftet med det här arbetet är att kartlägga vilka egenskaper och färdigheter framtidens lärare behöver ha. Kravintressenterna är fler än tidigare och det är många som vill ha ett ord med i hur skolans verksamhet sköts och kanske framför allt, hur lärarna ska vara. Den svenska skolan har under det senaste decenniet blivit hårt kritiserad för elevernas bristande och försämrade kunskaper och lärarnas status har sjunkit som en tung sten. De sociala problemen bland barn och unga har ökat och skolans fostransansvar har medfört att undervisning och uppfostran upptar ungefär lika stor del av en lärares arbetstid. Och samtidigt som lärarna mer eller mindre jobbar ihjäl sig, verkar ingen vara nöjd med resultatet.

I Lindberg & Richard Svensson where they presented a hypothesis that the decline in trusting democracy within Swedish youth is a result of the deregulation of the education in Sweden. The aim of this study is to test this hypothesis and see if the declinne in democracy can be seen already before graduating from elementary school. Method: The method used in this study consist of a survey distributed to students at two elementary schools that differentiates in question of grades and social status. By comparing and analyzing the results of this survey with the claims of the hypothesis, former studies and Lipsets theory of the working-class authoritarism a conclusion is made of the hypothesis credibility. Result & Conclusions: The results showed that there may be a a difference trusting democracy between students with higher grades and those with lower grades.

Early studies of what motivates volunteering often have had an older sample and youth organizations have not been studied. A survey was used to study motives for volunteering in Swedish youth organizations. The importance of age and years of volunteering was studied. In the analysis 102 persons in age between 17 and 59 years participated. The participants ranked the motives as followed: knowledge, development, values, social, career and protection.

This study has focused on obesity prevention efforts in schools in the United States of America. The study was conducted in two states, Oklahoma and New Hampshire. In New Hampshire, the study was focused on more minor efforts which were the "CSHP", HEAL, Early Sprout, FIT, AFHY, 5210, and Kids CATCH Club. In Oklahoma, the focus on the study was on the program It's All About Kids.Method: Unstructured interviews and observation, analysis from an national policy document. A total of seventeen interviews conducted, seven of them in New Hampshire and ten in Oklahoma.

Uppsatsen undersöker tillgängligheten på läromedel i ämnet musik. Främst då inom modern pop- och rockhistoria. Vi har intervjuat fem aktiva musiklärare och två rektorer. Vi ställde frågor rörande behovet av läromedel inom musik och pop- och rockhistoria. Deras syn på läromedel i musik och i pop- och rockhistoria och vad de själva använder sig av för läromedel.

Syfte: Vårt syfte med vår uppsats är att undersöka hur män inom ett kvinnodominerat yrke upplever och tolkar sin situation samt hur de eventuellt påverkar eller kan påverka den struktur som redan existerar. Det yrke vi valt att studera är vårdbiträde och undersköterskor inom äldreomsorgen.Problemformulering: Frågeställningen som uppsatsen bygger på är uppdelad i tre frågor: Vad är orsaken till att männen är få till antalet inom äldrevården?Hur påverkas genusstrukturerna och de existerande normerna inom yrket när männen gör sitt intåg?Hur upplever männen sin situation inom yrket och vad känner de att de tillför gruppen kvinnor som är verksamma där?Metod: En kvalitativ studie baserad på elva djupintervjuer med manliga undersköterskor och vårdbiträde inom äldreomsorgen. Slutsatser: Manliga undersköterskor är medvetna om att man gör ett val som inte är normen och får ofta försvara sitt val. Sin syn på yrket undersköterska innan man börjar bygger på okunskap och förutfattade meningar, som även omgivningen har när de placerar yrket i ett genusfack.
