The purpose of this essay is to explore how social workers view a possible connection between exposure to honour violence and development of mental illness and/or substance abuse. We first heard of the possible connection from a voluntary organization who work in this field and who believe that this connection could be common. We therefore wanted to explore this from the perspective of social workers who come into contact with victims of honour violence: was this something they had noticed? How did they deal with it if it was noticed? We also asked how the possible connection could be interpreted and, supposing the social workers had failed to notice the connection, why this could be. We made five qualitative interviews with six social workers working in different contexts whom within their work come across honour-related issues.

After the honor killings of Fadime and Pela, an extensively discussion started in the media, debating honor-related violence and oppression. This debate also made us, the authours of this paper, to pay attention to the problem. As a professional in social work, there are several good points to be made by having an in-depth knowledge in the field, both to discover individuals exposed to honor-related violence and to be able to protect them. The study was conducted by four qualitative interviews with professionals in social work with a professional experience of honor-related problems. Through the interviews, the social worker's view of honor problems emerged.

The purpose of this research has been to investigate possible reasons for why honour related oppression exist in Sweden as well as to find out how some voluntary organisations work to change honour oppression related attitudes. The questions that the reserachers were trying to answer were (1) What are the possible causes for honour related oppression in Sweden? (2) How can honour related oppression be identified? (3) What are the voluntary organisations doing to change these attitudes? To answer these questions a qualitative method was used. The reserachers examined what leading researchers in this area thought were the reasons to why honour related oppression exist and then carried out interviews with participants from four voluntary organisations. A social constructional approached were chosen as the theoretical framework for this research and the results were also analysed from several perspectives.

Studiens syfte var att undersöka hur de kvinnor som utsatts för hedersrelaterat våld känner sig efter att ha bott på ett skyddat boende och nu har kommit ut i samhället. Hur mår de och hur ser deras vardag ut? Metoden som användes var kvalitativ och det empiriska materialet inhämtades genom halvstrukturerade intervjuer. I studien deltog fyra kvinnor. Resultatet analyseras med hjälp av teorierna KASAM och Exitteorin samt relevant kunskap och tidigare forskning.

SAMMANFATTNINGHedersrelaterade frågor har fått allt mer utrymme i media och staten ökar sina insatser kring problematiken kontinuerligt. Jag har valt att utvärdera projektet ?samordning av kommunala verksamheter i kampen mot hedersrelaterat våld?. Förtryck i hederns namn existerar på grund av många olika faktorer. De jag har valt att belysa är kvinnans underordning i patriarkala samhällen, heder som något kulturbundet samt heder som maktmedel över den kvinnliga sexualiteten.

The purpose of this essay has been to study the different discourses that are expressed in social welfare secretaries? assertions when they assess cases with elements of honour-related violence, intimidation and oppression. To do so I have used a discourse analysis theory and technique, based on three qualitative interviews with social welfare secretaries. The interviews were focused on vignettes, which were all fictitious cases with various elements of honour-related violence. One of the interviews was a focus groupinterview with four participants, while the other two interviews were individual.

The aim of this study is to examine how girls from the discussion group "Coolt med koll" understand the phenomenon honor-related violence. The study is based upon three issues; how do our informants understand honor-related violence, where do the interviewed obtain information concerning honor-related violence and how do it affect their point of view, last but not least what do the girls know regarding children?s rights. The theoretical points of this study are theories about honor-related living conditions and radical feminist theory. The study is carried out through six semi-structured qualitative interviews, which all are conducted separately.

The purpose of this paper was to describe how a phenomenon is constructed into being a social problem, by studying articles on honour killing in the Swedish daily press and in the technical journal Socionomen. The main questions were: can different discourses on honour killing be identified, and if so, have they changed over time, and are there differences between the discourses identified in the daily press and in Socionomen? The method used was a qualitative analysis of discourse influenced by Faircloughs Critical Discourse Analysis. The main conclusion was that honour killing has been textually constructed as a social problem in the studied media. There was one main discourse which clearly pointed out groups as bearers and victims of the social problem.

Att utöva våld i hederns namn har historiskt sätt existerat länge och kvinnor som gjorde sig skyldiga till utomäktenskapliga eller föräktenskapliga relationer fick allvarliga påföljder. Syftet med studien var att se hur olika yrkesverksamheter så som kvinnojouren, polisen, kuratorer och barnmorskor arbetar och samarbetar i hedersrelaterade ärenden och undersökt vilka komplikationer kan förekomma. Fjorton deltagare intervjuades. Hedersrelaterat våld präglas av patriarkala kulturer som innefattar hierarkisystem där underordnade individer tar skuld för skam. Resultatet visar att isoleringen från samhället och det sociala livet börjar stegvis och i tidig ålder.

The purpose of this study was to examine how social services in Örebro working with young people vulnerable to honor- related violence and oppression. Further the purpose was to investigate recognition of guidelines that could act as support in the work with honor- related violence and oppression, and also however the work with these honor-related cases could have an emotional impact on the social worker. To answer these questions a qualitative study using interviews was performed with four social workers in Örebro. The results have been analyzed and interpreted in relation to previous research conducted in the field of honor research. Further three theoretical perspectives have been used in the interpretation of the results; implementation theory, sociology of emotion and coping.

The aim of this study was to understand how social workers deal with honour-related violence, with special focus on the processing from sheltered housing. Our qualitative interviews with social workers that work with this kind of problems show that there are both obstacles and opportunities in the processing from sheltered housing. On the negative side are the loneliness, the shame and the guilt that the girls may experience when they need to leave their families. The social services can both be an obstacles and an opportunity. When the girls need to create a new life in a new city they have a lot of opportunities and in the same time it is hard to get to know new friends when you don´t know the city or have much money.

The concept of domestic violence pertains to different definitions of violence, one of which is the concept of honour related violence and oppression. This paper looks at honour related violence and oppression, as defined in policy documents at a central political level, and how various discourses stand in relation to social categories and power relations. Consequently, the theoretical and methodological premise of the paper has been based on discourse analysis and an intersectional perspective has been applied to gain further depth and breadth in the analysis of the material. The intersectional perspective houses various approaches to the understanding of specific phenomena based on factors of gender, ethnicity, sexuality and class. The analysis concludes that the concept of honour related violence and oppression is a concept without a single scientific definition. There is, however, a general consensus in the political context that honour related violence and oppression is a collective force that can be directed at both sexes.

The aim of this study was to analyze society's efforts for girls who are victims of honorrelatedviolence and oppression. More specifically its aim was to examine what efforts thesociety can offer girls who are exposed to honor-related violence and oppression, and howsocial services and shelters cooperate on issues of honor. We have chosen to focus on girlswho are victims of honor-related violence, but we are aware that even boys and men face thisproblem. The study was conducted using a qualitative approach through interviews. Tocomplete the study we have conducted eight interviews throughout Sweden.

De mänskliga rättigheterna avser och innefattar alla individer. De mänskliga rättigheterna är allomfattande och menar på att alla individer är födda fria, har samma värde och rättigheter. De berör alla människor över hela världen, bortsett från nationalitet, kultur eller andra kontexter. Mäns våld mot kvinnor i nära relationer är ett allvarsamt samhällsproblem som uppmärksammats i Sverige och ställer högre krav på statens myndigheter att förfara och tag till insatser. Trots FN:s mänskliga rättigheter, Europa konventionen och de svenska grundlagarna förekommer det diskriminering, förtryck, våld och mord på kvinnor runt om i landet.

Denna studie har undersökt attityder och kunskapskällor hos sex socialarbetare och poliser som arbetar med ?hedersrelaterat våld och förtryck?. Studien granskar också om kompetenser och insatser finns hos socialarbetare och poliser när det gäller arbetet med unga män med ?hedersproblematik?. Debatten kring denna problematik har blivit starkt polariserad.
