Sweden is a country that has made some progress in developing energy efficient solutions. The problem in Sweden is that many houses and apartment buildings are old and have inefficient ventilation- and heating systems. This energy is lost when systems are inefficient, which then results in huge economic costs. Luckily, more and more people are becoming aware of this, which means that Sweden is on track to become even better within energy efficiency.Energy use for the housing- and service sector amounts to 166 TWh of total use at 616 TWh. Without distribution and conversion losses, these figures show that the housing- and service sector accounts for almost 40 % of the country's total energy consumption.

Logistik har på senare tid blivit en allt viktigare del inom dagens samhälle i och med ökad globalisering. En verksamhet som effektivt arbetar med att förbättra sin logistik kan ofta erhålla stora konkurrensfördelar och om möjligt utöka sina marknadsandelar. Logistik medför dock ett antal kostnadspunkter, varav en utav de största är transporter. Av denna anledning är det av stor vikt att företag erkänner hantering av transporter som en central del utav den dagliga verksamheten.Syftet med detta examensarbete är att på Sulzer Pump Solutions Vadstena AB utvärdera samt studera verksamhetens transporthantering med fokus på inboundtransporter.I samband med ett ägarbyte har verksamheten genomgått stora organisationsförändringar där transporthantering har kommit att bli ett icke prioriterat område. Företagets transportkostnader är idag omfattande och det finns en tydlig önskan om att ta kontroll över transporthanteringen.

The demand for environmental assessments on buildings and energy consumption is increasing as well as the energy performance requirements for buildings. At the same time it is increasingly common with self-producers of heat and electricity generation.The main purpose with this master thesis is to investigate how time resolution affects the environmental assessment of energy consumption in office buildings connected to district heating (DH). Environmental assessments were done with both attributional LCA and consequential LCA with system expansion.Fortum´s DH system in Stockholm was analyzed and district heating production was simulated in a Matlab-model. Greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions for the production were calculated. The heat demand of the office Gångaren 16 in Stockholm was simulated in IDA ICE.

Lower energy use in buildings is a result of increasingly stringent energy requirements across Europe. When conventional district heating technology is used in areas with low energy consumption heatlosses do not fall even though the amount of energy delivered is reduced. This reduces income for thedistrict heating company. To maintain their economic viability the district heating companies? majorchallenge is to implement new solutions that minimize heat loss.

In order to measure the quality of the logs, one can with help of Fast Fourier Transform technique get the signals resonance peaks. With help of these peaks you can see whether the quality of a tree is good or bad. This report contains the work of a where a program has been developed to be able to process a vibration created by an automatic hammer hitting on a log of wood. From the processed signal the program should be able to show both the raw wavesignal and the processed measured data from the resonance peaks. Beyond the raw wavesignal and resonance peaks the program should also be able to control the automatic hammer.

I detta examensarbete har en generell metodik skapats för testning av styrsystem för pumpar. Testmetodiken beskrivs med modeller som på ett strukturerat sätt går igenom testningens förberedelse och utförande. Metodiken tillämpas sedan genom en stegvis mall för hur testningen går till praktiskt.En metod för att optimera antalet tester presenteras. Denna metod minskar antalet tester genom att använda de mest prioriterade signalerna som skickas mellan styrsystem och pump. Denna prioritering sker genom en viktning av hur viktig signalen är för systemet.

Stora Enso Hylte Bruk är ett tidningspappersbruk beläget i Hyltebruk.De fyra pappersmaskinerna startades 1972(PM1), 1974(PM2), 1976(PM3) och1989(PM4).Produktionen 2005 från dessa pappersmaskiner var 800 000 ton papper.För att tillverka papper åtgår stora mängder energi i form av värme och el, HylteBruk gjorde 2005 av med 1 % av Sveriges totala elenergibehov.Den 1/7 2004 höjdes processrelaterad elskatt från 0 till 0,5 öre/kWh vilket leddefram till den lag som trädde i kraft den 1/1 2005, ?lag om program förenergieffektivisering? (PFE)1.Ändamålet är att främja en effektiv energianvändning och ger energiintensivindustri möjlighet att delta i ett 5-årigt program för energieffektivisering. Deföretag som är kvalificerade att ingå i programmet och klarar av de krav som ställsbefrias från elskatten.Som en del av det här programmet ingår att utarbeta en lista medelenergieffektiviseringar som ska överlämnas till Statens Energimyndighet.Detta examensarbete kan efter beslut av ansvariga på Hylte Bruk ingå som en delav denna lista.Syftet med examensarbetet var att undersöka effektiviteten hos tolv pumpar påPM2 genom mätning av effekt, flöde och tryck. En del av dessa har varit i drift iupp till 32 år, under denna tid har slitage skett, vissa pumpar har gått mot delvisstängda ventiler samt förutsättningarna i form av produktion har ändrats sedan dedimensionerades.För alla de berörda pumparna kan en effektivisering göras, den kan bestå av: lägretryckhöjd, mindre flöde, pump med bättre verkningsgrad, eller en kombination avovanstående exempel.De förslag som har en återbetalningstid kortare än tre år ger tillsammans enenergibesparing på 1 375 000 kWh/år, vilket motsvarar mer än ¼ av vadpumparna förbrukar idag.Om istället alla de förslagen som är framarbetade och genomförbara skullerealiseras kan energibesparingen ökas ytterligare till 2 302 000 kWh/år, dettaskulle dock innebära en större investeringskostnad vilket resulterar i en längreåterbetalningstid..

This thesis aims to examine the viability of various techniques for increased electricity generation in CHP plants and the effect of electricity price fluctuations on the profitability.The techniques examined are fuel dryer, pellet production, methane production, combined methane- and pellet production, seasonal heating storages in caverns and pit heat storages and condensing tail. Using Excel and Matlab, the prerequisites for investment costs, revenues and expenses were calculated.What affects the price of electricity is a combination of economic and technological development, energy prices, economic structure, population changes and weather. Different scenarios for the electricity price were therefore examined. In the base case, the electricity price was given by the Nord Pool electricity price statistics of area three in 2011. Thereafter, WiMo was used to design the electricity scenarios for 2030, which was then applied to the data to obtain the viability of various scenarios. The techniques examined were found to give greater profits to the CHP plant by increasing and optimizing the production of electricity.

This is a literature study in which I investigate if there are scientific studies that form the basis of the Swedish dog world views concerning the spaying of bitches. The positive impacts are said to be reduced problems with pseudopregnancy, reduced risk of pyometra, reduced risk of mammary and uterine tumors, an earlier cease of bone growth, a more active and happier dog and a bitch who is more tolerant of other dogs. The negative consequences are said to be urinary incontinence, increased aggressiveness, lower metabolism and the increased risk of obesity, a more lethargic individual and altered coat.There are studies indicating that spaying reduces behavioral problems associated with heat and pseudopregnancy. Assuming no ovary tissue persists after the procedure, and there is no progesterone production, the risk of pyometra decreases. Early spaying, before the first heat, reduces the risk of mammary tumors.

The aim of this report was to investigate the economy of passive houses. The work was focused on economy in total and on the economy of different components such as windows, insulation, heat exchanger and the air tightness of the climate shell. No attention was paid on the comfort factor or to the impacts on the environment.Two houses, aspiring to be passive were chosen; A big one and a small one. Hence, comparisons considering the size of the building have been possible to do as well.The comparisons were made by calculating ?break even? between two concepts; passive and BBR- concept.

The main goal with the master thesis has been to do a status evaluation of the chain machinery with its start chain and wire to secure the production on a short basis due to that a reconstruction is not planned at this time. An evaluation of the condition of the start chain and the rollers in the chain depository has been done. An offer has been requested for a new start chain and the evaluation of the start chains may be a basis for the decision taking. The production has been able to go on, although it has arisen some problems which have been difficult to find the causes for. There is no gathered ?picture? of the machinery status and a mapping of each machinery has been compiled of comprehensive logs.

Detta examensarbete är utfört på Stockholm Vatten som producerar och levererar dricksvatten till drygt 1 miljon personer i Stockholm med omnejd. I likhet med andra bolag inom vattenbranschen har Stockholm Vatten stora energikostnader vid distributionen av rent vatten samt vid omhändertagandet av avloppsvatten. År 2003 var denna kostnad ca 55 miljoner kronor och därmed en betydande del av bolagets totala utgifter. Större delen av energiförbrukningen uppstår vid vatten- och avloppsverken då vattnet ska tryckas ut i nätet men stora mängder energi förbrukas även i själva ledningsnätet. Syftet med detta arbete har därför varit att undersöka hur och varför energianvändningen ser ut som den gör i en zon i södra delen av Stockholm.

European Union has made a new decision that all new built houses by 2020 shallbe near-zero energy houses. Boverket?s definition of near-zero energy housesintends buildings with good energy performance in which a proportion of theamount of energy that must be added to the building is made of renewable energy.Passive House is a set of requirements from FEBY designed to build energyefficient buildings. This is achieved by reducing loss of heat through the buildingenvelope and to take advantage of the passive heat from solar radiation,installation and heat sources like people living in the house.This project has been made with help of Anebyhus and one of their model houseshave been examined from the report?s issues, including Anebyhus?s energyperformance, requirements for the manufacturing and assembly, how theenvelope must be improved to fulfill the requirements for the Passive House andwhat energy calculation programs are available on the market.The report aims to provide solutions for energy efficient houses that are adaptedfor production of house building.Two visits to Anebyhus has been done to study their manufacture and assemblyof building elements.

How does the companies in focus, gather information about what effects the customers value in use?? How do the companies use this information in their business?The purpose is to examine how some industrial companies gather information about the customer?s value in use, on the bases from the five activities from Porter and how they can use this information.Three semi structured interviews were made for this investigation, with representatives from Atlas Copco Rock Drills, IL Recycling and Johnson Pump.The conclusions are that to gather information about the customers value in use, the company must work close with the customer. This information helps the company to improve their products, services and their relationships..

Långtidsbehandling med ventilator utan tillräcklig befuktning kan torka ut en patients luftvägarmed olika komplikationer som följd. Målet för detta examensarbete var att utveckla en ny teknikför att befukta och värma inandningsgasen. Ett fungerande koncept och en prototyp som styrkerkonceptet skulle tas fram.Marknaden för befuktare studerades och de vanligast använda befuktningsmetoderna granskadesför att hitta svagheter som behövde åtgärdas. De två vanligaste befuktartyperna är HeatedHumidifier och Heat and Moisture Exchanger. Den främsta nackdelen med Heated Humidifiervar dess tendens att övermätta luften med kondensutfällning som följd, och med Heat andMoisture Exhanger att inte tillräckliga fukt- och temperaturnivåer nåddes.Därför togs en ny design fram med målet att kunna styra fukt och temperatur oberoende avvarandra.
