I used case studies of hearing impaired adults to give examples of how the stigma processes work. By connecting the stigma and the social policy theories with the case studies I wanted to see how the social policy could affect the stigma processes or vice versa. In the paper the concept of stigma has been described and discussed, foremost using the theories of Erving Goffman. I have also discussed the welfare system and the connection between residual systems and stigma.

The aim for this study was to investigate if it is less stressful for cow and calves in loose housing systems when separation is made so they can see and touch each other (Physical Contact-PC) instead of just hearing each other (Hearing Contact-HC). The behavior of eight cow- calf pairs (n=4 pairs per treatment) on an ecological dairy farm with cubicle housing were studied for four hours directly after separation and four hours the day after separation. The first four cows that gave birth were used for treatment PC, and the following four cows that gave birth were used for treatment HC. The only selection criteria used was that both cow and calf were healthy. Separation took place 3-4 days after birth and the calves were put separately in two different pens while the mothers were let loose into the cubicle system.

Början på en dag som annars aldrig börjar : Om Fontänhusets betydelse för dess medlemmar

This study was made to examine what the Fountain house can do to help their members and how the members feel about their situation and their ability to participate in their rehabilitation. To do so we contacted one of the Fountain houses in Sweden, located in Falkenberg, to get a better view of what their members thought about the process. Our main purpose with this study was to turn the spotlight on what the Fountain house organization means to its members. To do so we had two main questions that we wanted to examine more closely:?How do the members experience the Fountain house organization? ? To which extend do the members feel that they are allowed to participate in their rehabilitation? ? How much influence do the members feel that they have? For this study we choose to use the qualitative method which included a lot of literature research, observations and interviews with members of the Fountain house organization.
