The plastic hemocytometer which has a fixed coverslip and is assigned for disposable use, appears to reduce the problems arising from the use of the traditional glass hemocytometer, for instance coverslip-application difficulty and dust particles. Capillary whole blood sampling may be useful for patients at the emergency department and in addition, a smaller volume of blood is taken compared to venous blood sampling. This study will focus on the platelet- and leukocyte count (PLT and WBC) in venous and capillary blood, in order to compare the plastic- and glass hemocytometers with Sysmex XN-2000 (Sysmex Corporation, Kobe, Japan), and verify if capillary whole blood sampling can be used for the measurement of these hematological parameters. 30 subjects donated both capillary- and venous blood samples and these blood samples were analyzed with glass- and plastic hemocytometers with Sysmex XN-2000 as the reference method.

Antalet patienter med sjukdomen diabetes förväntas öka vilket kommer innebära att ett ännu större antal patienter behöver screenas för att upptäcka diabetesretinopati. Syftet med den här pilotstudien var att beskriva patienters erfarenheter av screening för diabetesretinopati på en ögonmottagning. Pilotstudien utformades efter en kvalitativ induktiv ansats och data samlades in genom semistrukturerade intervjuer. Materialet bearbetades genom kvalitativ innehållsanalys. De huvudkategorier som framkom var: trygghet, informationens betydelse, tillgänglighetens betydelse, oro för undersökningsresultatet och dess konsekvenser samt obehagligt och tidskrävande.

AbstractLarge states are not as interdependent as small countries are. Due to the extent of the home market, producers in large countries can sell the greater part of their products at home. Accordingly large countries become less dependent of other states. Large states are consequently in a better position to promote their self- interests internationally than smaller states are. Applying this reasoning on a large state such as France I come to conclude that she probably exerts this policy of self- interest in an area like free trade.

Begreppet huvud- och halscancer innefattar läppcancer, cancer i näsa och bihålor, i munhåla och svalg, struphuvud, på stämbanden och i spottkörtlarna. De vanligaste behandlingsformerna är kirurgi, strålbehandling och cytostatikabehandling. Sjukdomen och behandlingen innebär ofta svåra fysiska, psykiska och sociala biverkningar för patienten. Detta ställer stora krav på sjuksköterskans kunskaper och färdigheter inom området och i omvårdnaden av dessa patienter.

More than 13 % of the female dog population in Sweden suffers from mammary tumors during their lifetime. The disease can affect bitches in all ages but most often middle aged and older dogs. The aim of this study was to evaluate if it is possible to improve the post surgical healing process by using a pressure pad.

This master thesis has been carried out at Scania R&D at the department for Powertrain Control System Development during the winter of 2010/2011. In the thesis the writer examine and evaluate the existing method for collecting information from the tests carried out during the development of the Powertrain Control Systems software. It also contains suggestions for how a new method that enhance the validation elements could look like.The master thesis uses Vicentes theories of the ecological approach and theories of how knowledge sharing of tacit and technical information works within an organization and between the organization and its customers. First a workplace analysis at Scania R&D is carried out to see how Powertrain Control Systems work and how they test their software. Second a control task analysis, where the aims decided on after the interviews, is compared to the existing method.
