Studies in the field of interaction design and the human memory claim there can be positive effects on the memory when information is presented for the user as a graphical pattern rather than a series of numbers. This thesis aims to influence designers to choose graphical patterns as an interface for information display. Low-fi and hi-fi prototypes of graphical patterns were constructed and tested in a variety of configurations by two users. The users showed differences in the ability to memorize a sequence of digits depending on how this sequence was presented. This study suggests that users are more easily able to recall information presented via a graphical user interface than when the same information is only presented digitally..

Determination of serum thymidine kinase 1 (TK-1) activity is used as a tumour marker in both human and veterinary medicine. TK-1 is an intracellular enzyme involved in a salvage pathway of DNA synthesis. The expression of TK-1 is cell cycle dependent and the activity increases markedly after the G1 to S transition in the cell cycle and then declines rapidly in G2. The pronounced proliferative activity in tumour cells result in a higher TK-1 enzyme activity within the cell. The fact that the increased TK-1 activity can be measured in serum makes TK-1 a useful marker in diagnostics of neoplastic diseases and it provides information regarding prognosis and treatment effectiveness. In human medicine a radioactive based test is used to determine the TK-1 serum activity.

Ansökningshandlingarna i ett kommunalt rekryteringsärende är vanligtvis att betrakta som allmänna handlingar. Detta har ibland upplevts som ett problem för kommunala arbetsgivare. Det befaras att många kompetenta presumtiva intressenter avstår från att söka sig en ny kommunal anställning, då det inte kan ske utan en offentlighet redan vid ansökningstillfället.  Under de senaste 20 åren har kommuner därför i allt större utsträckning anlitat konsulter vid rekrytering av högre tjänstemän. The aim of this study was to investigate whether the Swedish Institute of public health care uses paternalistic information in their alcohol publications. My intention has also been to examine to what extent the paternalistic information is being used. This is determined simply by how frequently paternalistic information is found in the publications. I chose to analyse five publications that contain alcohol related information and had a clear motive. My results show that all five publications use paternalistic methods with the intention to change readers, or people in their surroundings, alcoholic behaviour. Though this is quite a small essay, I have suggested extended research of the subject ? preferably of all 176 alcoholic publications presented by the Institute of public health care..

The purpose of this thesis is to examine Skogsstyrelsens event Skogens Dag as an information channel by looking at information use and information behaviour during the communication process of the event. This is done by examining the aims of Skogsstyrelsens information distribution during the event in relation to its outcomes. The evaluation is focused on long term effects on the target group and it is restricted to Skogens Dag in Borås 2005. The question this thesis intends to answer is: How does the event Skogens Dag function as a tool for information distribution? The theoretical background gives an account of the communication process as well as the relevant aspects of marketing, social marketing, campaigns and public relations, as these are communication attempts that can use an event as a medium.

The management of assets in organisations today can be a challenging task and optimising their usage is critical to ensure maximum profit. For rental businesses offering tangible products efficient management of movable assets are an essential part of the business strategy. The main purpose of this study is to investigate how asset management and asset information management can be carried out in rental businesses and in what ways information technology can support it. By doing a literature review combined with a case study where three rental businesses and their use of information technology were examined we could identify several important aspects regarding asset information management. The results we have found is that rental businesses with a high degree of digitization in existing asset information management systems are able to rationalize existing work processes, which in some ways changes the roles of employees.

Dels en kvalitativ metod med djupintervjuer som var av formen riktade/öppna. Samt en idéanalys av deduktiv form. By tradition, archival sciences has emerged in a context with defined information processes, with explicit information producers and custodians to which consumers make requests for the information. In this process, the archival science has developed methods and strategies to preserve authentic and reliable records and by that providing trustworthy information. In an online society, people are using the internet to get information for different purposes. Even though there is no legal obligation to guarantee the authenticity, it is of societal importance that the end users get trustworthy information. In this online context, open data is a trend that is growing fast over the world and it is interesting because its conditions raises many questions regarding authenticity.Since open data is free to reuse, link and combine with other information, and it is preferably in primary format it raises questions about how to maintain the integrity and identity of the information, which is the constituents of authenticity as it is used in this work.

ADHD has for a long time been perceived as something that affects children and grows away with time. American psychiatric association state that ADHD may appear differently with adolescences and adults than with children. That could lead to misunderstandings and exclusion by adults and adolescences with ADHD at work life amongst other situations. This report investigates that exclusion and tries to find what information that needs to reach certain target groups to prevent it from happen.The works focus is text design, a part of information design, and looks firstly at the factors that make good information material. Then I investigate if there is a need for more information about ADHD within working life and if so what it would contain.

Syftet med denna B-uppsats i informatik är att få en bild av samt få bättre förståelse för vilka faktorer det är som kan påverka vilka kvinnor i åldern 18-25 som offentliggör privat information på sociala medier.  Dock har inte djupintervjuer tillämpats utan enkäter, vilket annars är normalt för ett kvantitativt tillvägagångssätt. Enkäter valdes för att respondenterna skulle kunna svara anonymt eftersom syftet är att undersöka samt analysera vilka kvinnor i ålder 18-25 offentliggör privat information på sociala medier.   Utifrån en enkätundersökning som skickades ut elektroniskt till 25 kvinnor i åldern 18-25 har jag kunnat identifiera olika faktorer som bidrar till varför vissa kvinnor delar med sig av mer privat information på sociala medier. Några av de slutsatser som dragits utifrån denna studie är att kvinnor som befinner sig i ett offentligt förhållande oftare delar med sig av information på sociala medier samt att de som studerar är mer aktiva på sociala medier. .

The purpose of this thesis, was to study decision processes and the importance of information management in the processes within an academic organisation, which led to the work with adaptions according to the law of Equal Treatment of Students in Higher Education, (SFS 2001:1286). A general question was formulated concerning how different information- and knowledge flows interact within an academic organisation and its library during the decision processes. The questions at issue we have tried to examine, concern the factors that have influenced the participants´ choice of information during the decision processes, in their work of adapting the law of equal treatment, and how these choices have influenced the priorities that were made. The theoretical starting point was basically Cohen, March and Olsens Garbage Can Model. We also found the author Chun Wei Choo´s descriptions of organisations, as systems of information processing, useful for parts of our thesis, especially the parts that deals with the role of information management within the decision processes.

The Mission at ÅF Industry in Norrkoping was about optimizing bulk data handling while importing process tag types from their construction database into the Process Controlled System of type Siemens PCS7.I found three different methods to solve the task. Two of them were using different software from Siemens under the premise that the report from the database was corrected as needed. The third variant was manually creating the circuits. All methods worked out fine but there were times when one was better than another.To solve this task I had access to all software presented in chapter 2 ?Programvara? (=Software).

Det finns ett stort behov av att skydda information från obehöriga eftersom inte all information är offentlig. För institutionen för datavetenskap på högskolan i Skövde gäller det att skydda information som tentor, inlämningsuppgifter och lösningsförslag med mera. Detta är information som gör datorsystemet attraktivt för inkräktare. För att höja säkerheten till en nivå som gör det svårare för inkräktare att läsa informationen bör denna krypteras. Olika krypteringsalgoritmer från de symmetriska och asymmetriska systemen beskrivs, studeras och exemplifieras i rapporten.Resultatet av rapporten ger en rekommendation till vilka algoritmer som kan vara lämpliga att införa som krypteringsalgoritmer hos institutionen för datavetenskap på högskolan i Skövde..
