Participation of the people is essential for a democracy's vitality and survival. In this study we focus on the individual as an active participant in the traditional political arena and beyond its sphere into the society as a whole. The first part of the study has a normative aim. Firstly we examine why political participation is essential for democracy, and especially the ideal of representative democracy and the restricted passive participation of its citizens in comparison to the ideal of participatory democracy and its ideal of an active participant in all aspects of society. An ideal participant is drawn up to set the course for the empirical part of the study.

Muntligt berättande får en alltmer uppmärksammad roll inom det pedagogiska fältet. Dettaarbete syftar till att belysa den skillnad som enligt facklitteraturen finns mellan muntligtberättande och högläsning samt lyfta fram pedagogiska vinster med respektive metod medfokus på muntligt berättande. Syftet är också att undersöka om och hur elever uppfattarskillnad mellan muntligt berättande och högläsning. Två frågeställningar förtydligar syftet:Finns det någon skillnad i hur elever uppfattar och kommer ihåg innehållet i en berättelse defått muntligt berättad respektive uppläst? Finns det någon skillnad i elevers inlevelse i enberättelse de fått muntligt berättad respektive uppläst? Arbetet omfattar litteraturstudie ochfältundersökning.

Purpose/Aim: The purpose of this essay is to examine the ways two Swedish tabloid newspapers portray and describe the non-Socialist parties during the Swedish election of 2006.Material/Method: We have been studying 388 articles about the non-Socialist parties, derived from the two largest tabloid newspapers in Sweden, Aftonbladet and Expressen, during the month before the election. The method for the study is quantitative content analysis.Main results: The main conclusions drawn from this study are that Aftonbladet had twice as much written material about the non-Socialist parties, despite the fact that the paper is traditionally Socialist, while Expressen had consistently larger headlines. Both tabloids function to a higher degree as political actors than arenas for politics. The results are in accordance with earlier research, which shows that the degree of attention the non-Socialist parties acquired as a whole in the 2006 election, is remarkable. More than half of the articles in both tabloids portrayed the non-Socialist parties as a single political actor.

Alzheimer?s disease has increasing effects on the Swedish population. Now, about 90 000 swedes have been diagnosed with the disease. Many of these persons are cared for by someone close to them. The aim of this study is to increase understanding for the situation and experiences of the persons caring for their affected partner and to examine which support they are given by the public sector.

Sustainability reports are drawn up for the company's stakeholders and declare the company?s corporate social responsibility. Consumers are one of the companies' most important stakeholders for food companies. This study is aimed to describe how consumers perceive sustainability reporting in the food industry and if the application level of the GRI framework has an impact on how consumers perceive sustainability reports. Consumer perception is described in the GRI principles and the basis is the ICA and Coop's sustainability reports, which are two of Sweden's largest food company.

Sweden is the country in Europe that receives most applicants from asylum seeking unaccompanied children. The majority of all unaccompanied children are boys and the two biggest sending countries are Afghanistan and Somalia. There is however a big difference between the proportion of unaccompanied girls between the two countries, Somalia with a big proportion of girls and Afghanistan with a low proportion of girls. Previous research has shown that there is a big knowledge gap about unaccompanied girls? migration.

The aim with the project was to portray something to step on. Its purpose has been to experiment and explore the interaction between pattern, structure, material and colour for something to be applied on a floor. Focus has been on esthetic expression and not the creation of some¬thing for a specific environment or audience. My goal was also that this project would illustrate the importance of the floor to create a certain atmosphere in a room.The project was divided into three phases. The first one was the experimenting and exploring phase, where the goal was to find an expression.

The purpose with this thesis is to study how two chosen kindergartens work with language stimulation. The two kindergartens are working under different conditions in respect of the Swedish language. The children in the one kindergarten are bilingual whilst the children in the other are monolingual. The study is aiming to see whether these different conditions have any implication for the pedagogues? way of working.In order to achieve the result, the method of interviews has been used.

The conflict in the former Yugoslavia was characterised by extensive war crimes committed by all parties in the conflict. Two international courts, The International Court of Justice and the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia, have both judged if a genocide was committed in this conflict. This paper examines how these two courts relates to each other concerning their legal judgement of the crime of genocide. Two cases are analysed; the judgement of Radislav Krstic´ at the ICTY and the case Bosnia and Hercegovina v. Serbia and Montenegro at the ICJ.

Portable IT devices such as laptops, smart phones and computer tablets are becoming ever more ubiquitous. At the same time, the population of the Western world is growing older, with aging bringing about changes with regards to individuals' physical and mental capabilities. These facts raises important questions about how well suited these devices are for use by elderly people. This study focuses on the cognitive aspects of the devices' usability, using the concept of mental models to analyze the users' understanding of a computer tablet. It also draws upon theory of graphical user interfaces in its analyses.

Klättring är en växande sport som kräver jämn balans av styrka, teknik och psyke. I dagslägetsker klättertävlingar och de hårdaste utomhuslederna på branta överhängande väggar med smågrepp. God fingerstyrka är nödvändigt att ha när klättring utövas för att kunna hålla sig kvar igreppen, som består av lister, på väggen. Då dessa lister tas används en greppteknik somkallas för crimpteknik. Det går att hålla i listen i denna teknik med tre olika positioner, closedcrimp, open crimp och open hand.Syftet med denna studie är att kartlägga skillnader mellan olika test av prestationsförmåga ochcrimputhållighet, undersöka vilken crimpposition som går att hänga längst i samt utforskakorrelationen hängtid i crimp med styrkeövningar.Tjugotvå manliga klättrare rekryterades och indelades efter inrapporterat personbästa i tregrupper (elit, avancerad och normal).

Today, social media is used mostly by people in their private life. However, companies are more and more tapping into the area of social media. To this date, mostly B2C companies have been successful in their social media strategies. This qualitative thesis aims to investigate how B2B companies can benefit from using social media as a means to communicate and build relations with their customers. The medtech industry has been chosen as the object of study.Through depth interviews with people in the medtech industry and social media experts, data has been collected in order to answer the questions of (1) how ready customers in the medtech industry are to receive information through social media and (2) how companies can build the best possible social media strategy.

Syftet med den genomförda studien var att undersöka vilka effekter lärarna kunde se att arbetet med ASL, ?Att skriva sig till läsning? gett i den pedagogiska praktiken, vilket innefattar effekter både hos eleverna och hos läraren. I undersökningen ingick tio lärare i år F-3 som deltagit i projektet ?Att skriva sig till läsning? lett av CMiT, centrum för media och IT sedan 2006. För att få tillgång till lärarnas uppfattningar och erfarenheter valde vi att genomföra kvalitativa intervjuer.

Jag är av den uppfattningen att det idag kryllar av bra artister och låtskrivare, men många av dem får aldrig något genombrott. För att lyckas behöver man skriva ett unikt material, alternativt så behöver man redan vara ett känt varumärke som artist. Detta är kortfattat mina uppfattningar om musikbranschen i dagsläget.Hur tar man då sig fram som låtskrivare och hur kan man utvecklas? Dessa var frågeställningar som dök upp i mitt huvud efter att jag gav ut ett musikalbum våren 2012, då jag direkt konstaterade hur pass svårt jag tyckte det var, att få folk att uppmärksamma albumet.Efter detta bestämde jag mig för att ta mig själv ur min trygghetszon, och börja skriva musik med människor som jag inte känner sedan tidigare. Jag ville vidga mina vyer och få nya idéer, kanske även byta stil helt, om så skulle vara nödvändigt! Vilken var min stil? Jag bestämde mig för att skriva musik med andra, för att sedan kunna undersöka vilka eventuella fördelar respektive nackdelar som detta skulle föra med sig - i jämförelse med att skriva musiken på egen hand.

Each December thousands of Swedish families sit down to watch the annual "Christmas calendar", a series containing 24 episodes. Since the start in 1960, the Swedish public service television company, Sveriges Television, have broadcast a Christmas calendar every year, and is now seen as a firm tradition, attracting audiences of all ages, though the main audience is children. Research has shown that children?s television programs to a certain extent have the same function as news journalism has in agenda setting. Media, together with feedback and interaction with other individuals, plays a big role in the process of socialization.
