The main purpose of this Master?s thesis is to analyse the portrayals of working-class life in a selection of works by the Swedish authors Ragnar Järhult and Per Gunnar Evander. The research questions are: * How is the working conditions described?* What political messages can be found in the works?* What image of the class society is shown?The second aim of this Master?s thesis is to analyse the concept of working-class literature and to investigate if the works of Per Gunnar Evander could be seen as working-class literature. Methodologically, the study draws on established theories, concepts and methods from the sociology of literature and the history of ideas.

Denna uppsats är en studie av Eyvind Johnsons användande av sagoformen i romansviten Romanen om Olof (1934-37), och behandlar de fyra sagor som infogats i verket. Utgångspunkten är Johnsons eget påstående att sagorna är "på sitt sätt det mest realistiska i boken". Studien syftar till att redogöra för hur sagorna fungerar som verklighetsskildringar, och på vilket sätt de är realistiska. Sagorna sätts i samband med Johnsons eget liv; eftersom detta ligger till grund för Romanen om Olof är den biografiska kontexten av stor vikt då man diskuterar verklighetsförankringen i sagorna. En enkel översikt över sagobegreppet och Johnsons sagors relation till den muntliga folkdiktningen presenteras även.Att Johnsons sagor är realistiska har en dubbelbottnad innebörd; dels är de realistiska på så vis att de skildrar romanpersonernas andliga verklighet, något som för Johnson är omöjligt att göra i någon annan form.

AbstractThis is a story about the Swedish Prime Minister Olof Palme and his struggle against USA´s war in Vietnam in the late 60´s and the early 70´s. We follow the young Palme from his childhood to his travels to America and Asia, there he learns what true poverty means. Further we see Palme change side from his conservative background to a new social idealist. In Prag he learns to truly mistrust communism, an ideology he later in life paradoxical will be accused to stand for. Palme´s politic interests seems to take a great step forward when he starts to write articles in the Swedish newspaper Svenska Dagbladet, there he?s writings take more and more colour from Palme´s own politic stands.

The purpose of this essay is to examine wage-earners' investment funds from the ideological point of view. Were they in any way an integrated part of social democratical democratic socialism and reformism? I emphasize Olof Palme´s ideological idea of democratic socialism and reformism, and how he handled the issue. How did the question of these funds correspondent with the basic ideological points of view, and what was the standpoint of Palme in this issue.My method is built upon a deep study and analyses of SAP board of party and the standing committees protocol in the light of Olof Palme´s and SAP's ideology. I even use information from literature, inquiries and dissertations.

Denna kvalitativa idéanalytiska uppsats har behandlat och analyserat Olof Palmes internationella engagemang och ideologi. Den har beaktat hans främsta politiska idéer och principer: demokrati och mänskliga rättigheter, folkrätten, fred och säkerhet samt jämlikhet ur ett internationellt sammanhang. Dessa universellt erkända politiska idéer och principer som Olof Palme var en anhängare av har var och en belysts i anslutning till hans engagemang i två internationella frågor och företeelser. Demokrati och mänskliga rättigheter har analyserats utifrån diktaturregimerna i Europa och apartheidsregimen i Sydafrika; folkrätten utifrån avkoloniseringen och Vietnamkriget; fred och säkerhet utifrån kalla kriget och konflikten i Mellanöstern; samt jämlikhet utifrån solidaritet med utvecklingsländer och jämlikhet i industriländerna.Syftet med uppsatsen var att identifiera Olof Palmes internationella ideologi, i anslutning till det besvarades följande frågeställningar:· Vilken analys gjorde Olof Palme av de internationella frågor och företeelser han engagerade sig i?· Vilka var de ideologiska motiven till att Olof Palme engagerade sig i just de internationella frågor och företeelser han de facto gjorde?· Vilken slags världsordningen förespråkade Olof Palme?Som analysram för att klargöra och kategorisera Olof Palmes internationella ideologi nyttjades de tre mest etablerade teorierna i analysen av internationella relationer och världspolitik: realismen, liberalismen och marxismen.

1975 besökte Olof Palme med en delegation den kommunistiska diktaturen Kuba där han uttalade sig positivt om landets utveckling. Dessutom betonades vänskapen mellan länderna. Vilka faktorer låg bakom statsministern agerande? Analysen har utgått från system-, stats- och individnivå, där en addition av dessa tre nivåer lett oss fram till våra resultat.Vid en analys av Olof Palmes belief systems visar det sig att han blev demokratisk socialist genom sina resor till Nordamerika och Asien, där ett kolonialt förtryck pågick. När Vietnamkriget blossade upp såg Palme ett liknande förtryck från en stor stat mot en liten stat, på samma sätt som USA var mot Kuba, men bortsåg från förtrycket som regimen utövade.

AbstractOne aim of this thesis, has been to explore how discursive frames are constructed, frames to relate to, compare with, and therefore be part in shaping political subjects. The other aim has been connected with a more empirical platform, where I wanted to discover how these frames are established and structured discursively within a political organization, among its members; in this case with a foucs on the Swedish social democracy and its former leader Olof Palme. The thesis starts with a theoretical presentation and discussion, where focus is on the concepts of ideology, discourse theory in the form of Laclau and Mouffe, and narrative theory. The concepts will be presented and discussed, and also related to the other concepts to see their theoretical potential, both ontologically and epistemologically. Finally the theoretical rudiment is linked and analyzed with the empirical material.

The intention of this essay is to inquire into the (re-)constitution of gendered/sexed identities in a gothicistic discourse. The used material is the work Atlantica, chapter 5, vol. 2, written by the Swedish historian/Medical professor Olof Rudbeck. I have chosen this chapter for its description of mythological characters relationship with the earth, the sun and the moon. A description based on a concept of strength and reproduction as gendered characteristics.

This thesis aims to examine how the renowned swedish writer and critic Olof Lagercrantz wrote about communist China under Mao Zedong's leadership in the years 1970?1971. Lagercrantz served as editor-in-chef and as cultural director on one of Sweden's major daily newspapers, Dagens Nyheter, between 1951 and 1975. He travelled to China in 1970 as one of the first European reporters to get admission after the cultural revolution. This series of articles about China also changed the image of Lagercrantz, afterwards he was referred to as Maoist.

De tyska medierna visade både i öst och väst ett stort intresse för Olof Palme, Sverige och den svenska välfärdsstaten. Under det s.k. andra kalla kriget i början av 1980-talet beskylldes Palmes regering för att agera alltför undfallande gentemot det kommunistiska östblocket. Kritiken uttrycktes både inom och utanför Sveriges gränser och var särskilt utbredd i västtysk press, där samtidigt en uppmärksammad diskussion fördes som tycktes gå ut på att skrotförklara den svenska modellen: Sverige framställdes som ett totalitärt, överbyråkratiskt, anti-demokratiskt kontrollsamhälle i en debatt som till stor del anknöt till det mytomspunna året 1984 och George Orwells socialistiska skräckstatsvision i framtidsromanen med samma namn. Debatten kulminerade med några artiklar i västtyska Der Spiegel 1983, där det svenska socialväsendet liknades vid ett ?Barn-gulag? (?Kinder-gulag?).

This bachelor thesis engages in the question of silence in the writings of Fenno-Swedish modernists Mirjam Tuominen and Gunnar Björling, silence being understood as both a poetic theme and a question of literary form. Alongside this exposition runs a discussion about the possibilities and impossibilities of interpretation in the field of academic literary studies. This query is connected to the different ideological positions of the two writers, conjoined by ideas about anti-comprehensibility. Considering certain weaknesses of classical hermeneutics as well as the theory of deconstruction, especially in the case of reading poetry, this thesis tries to point out possible routs for a practice of a more dynamic interpretation, with special regard to understanding the trope of silence in the modernist poetry of Tuominen and Björling.The composition explicitly applies a ?method of wandering? inspired by Maurice Blanchot?s understanding of the priests of Dionysus in Hölderlin?s writings ? maundering in the holy night ? as a metaphor for a critique-in-the-creating.

Föreliggande arbete syftar till att med utgångspunkt i teorier om maskulinitet, performativitet och homosocialt begär undersöka maskulinitet i Eyvind Johnsons tetralogi Romanen om Olof. De frågor som riktas till texten kretsar kring hur maskulinitet konstrueras och upprätthålls i romanserien. Det forskningsläge uppsatsen förhåller sig till kan indelas i forskning om Johnsons författarskap samt forskning om maskulinitet i litteraturen.Den teoretiska bakgrund som föregår själva undersökningen är disponerad i tre avsnitt. Det första avsnittet ägnas åt begreppet performativitet och fokuserar främst synen på genus som en aktivitet. Härpå diskuteras begreppet homosocialt begär; ett begrepp som använts av bland andra Eve Kosofsky-Sedgwick och som syftar på den inom manliga gemenskaper ofta glidande skalan mellan det homosociala och det homoerotiska.

This Master's thesis discusses the freedom of speech, the right to freedom of opinion and expression, freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas in the context of public libraries in Sweden. The scope of this thesis is to examine the acquisition and maintenance of the literature about the killing of Sweden's Prime Minister Olof Palme 1986. This literature will serve as an instrument to measure the extent to which Swedish public libraries adhere to the rules set by the Swedish parliament, United Nations' universal declaration of human rights article 19, UNESCO's public library manifesto and the principles of the Federation of Library Associations and Institutions..
