Large areas of Lodgepole pine (Pinus contorta var. latifolia) were planted in the 1970s - and '80s. The purpose of the fast-growing species was to increase Growth and with short rotation periods allow a rapidly increased harvest level. Today a large proportion of the young forests owned by Holmen Skog, Iggesund are covered by Lodgepole pine and an active forest management is required to spread the harvested volume over time which is desirable by a market perspective. The purpose of this essay is to investigate the possibility of spreading the harvested volume of Lodgepole pine over time.

Den svenska skolan har sedan en tid haft bristande natur- och teknikundervisning i de lägre årskurserna. Den Kungliga Vetenskapsakademien gav vissa av Linköpings skolor uppdraget att i lärarlag arbeta med ett nytt material, för att kunna se dess fördelar och brister. Materialet heter Science and Technology for Children (STC) och är framtaget av den amerikanska organisationen National Science Resource Center. Sedan utvärderingen av STC har läromedlet bytt namn till NTA (Natur och Teknik för Alla).

The choice of harvest date for leys is one of the most important factors affecting the size and quality of the harvest. An early harvest gives a high nutritive value while a late harvest gives larger quantity. Today?s aim to produce high nutritive leys gives early harvest dates both in primary Growth and reGrowth in northern part of Sweden. The consequence is a Growth in the autumn, a "third harvest".The aim of this master thesis was to study the effects of different harvesting systems and their effect on size, feed quality, wintering and economy for conditions in the northern part of Sweden.

This article presents a retrospective case study combined with a review of the current literature concerning canine gestational diabetes. A total of 14 cases have been collected from six different clinics in Sweden. There are few previously published reports on canine gestational diabetes. Gestational diabetes is a disease that rarely occurs in pregnant bitches. The condition is due to the rise of progesterone that occurs during the estrus cycle.

Fermented liquid feed is well known for its health promoting effects on piglets. High levels of lactic acid are desired in the feed together with low levels of acetic acid and certain biogenic amines. Limits for acetic acid have been suggested to be 30-40 mmol/kg to avoid a decreased palatability of the feed; however, few studies have been performed. The purpose of this trial was therefore to examine which levels of lactic acid and acetic acid that can be accepted in a fermented feed without affecting the feed intake and thus the weight gain of the pig. A total of 60 pigs (Yorkshire/ Hampshire) were used in a trial during two weeks, between 9-11 weeks of age.

The Swedish stock-market gives investors an opportunity to benefit from the global Growth while financing companies invests and contributes to a socio-economic development. Parallel to the ownership of the funds also follows a responsibility as companies in the funds affect society and the environment. Therefore it is interesting to examine whether responsibility is an exception, which only concerns SRI-funds or a general principle, which includes the whole Swedish stock-market.The results of the survey makes it clear that all the Swedish major banks actively works to integrate sustainability within the respective bank's business to achieve a more sustainable financial system. Thus concludes the investigation that responsible investments are a general principle on the Swedish mutual stock-market.How responsibility is integrated in fund management differ between the banks.

The common drivers for hotel accommodation are tourism and business travel and hotel demand seem to outstrip supply in many places. More than 50 % of visitors to Sweden stay at a traditional hotel but is there room for alternate accommodation like serviced apartments besides the traditional hotel for people visiting? These are usually referred to as extended stay or long-stay accommodation. The aim of this thesis project is to explore whether there are Growth opportunities for serviced apartments in Sweden. A secondary aim of the thesis project is to identify challenges (if any) to this segment and also to identify the major operators of serviced apartments in Sweden.

This study investigates whether the site index curve method (SICM) and the Growth intercept method (GIM) can be used for site index predictions in younger Norway spruce (Picea abies (L.) Karst.) stands than recommended by current guidelines. For SICM it was thus investigated whether the method could be used for stands younger than ten years, and for GIM it was tested whether a starting point for the intercept measurements could be used below the recommended 2.5 meter. This was tested based on measurements taken from experimental stands in Tönnersjöheden Research Forest. For GIM it was found that the method can only be used when the TH-trees of a stand have five complete intercepts above 2.5 meters. For the method to be applicable beyond this, it will be necessary to adapt the underlying equations, perhaps following the Canadian example where a 1.3 meter intercept start is used. In conclusion it is not currently possible to apply the approach beyond the current recommendations. For SICM, SI predictions are accurate for the study area already form year three.

Under lagring och transport av textila varor från Asien kan risken för mögelangrepp vara stor, något som sedan vid uppackning kan vara skadligt för hälsan. Situationen så som det ser ut idag kan medföra stora problem och kostnader hos textilföretag och att hitta möjliga åtgärder för att förebygga skador är därför av stort intresse. För att kartlägga problemen med mögelangrepp på textila material har både informationssökning och praktiskt arbete genomförts. Mögeltillväxt sker då det är gynnsamma betingelser med hänsyn till klimat, näring och syretillgång. För att mögeltillväxt inte ska angripa textila varor finns en rad förebyggande åtgärder som kan vidtas, åtgärder som alla handlar om att göra förutsättningarna på ett eller annat sätt ogynnsamma.

Pathogenic microorganisms pose a big threat towards food production. Meanwhile, negative impacts on humans and environment are seen by the use of pesticides. Biological control agents are an alternative to the use of chemical pesticides, and plant-Growth promoting rhizobacteria, such as Bacillus amyloliquefaciens has been shown to have good properties as biocontrol agents. Before these bacteria can be used commercially their impact on other soil organisms has to be evaluated. This thesis looks into what biocontrol bacteria are and how they might affect earthworms.

The objective of the present study was to evaluate distillers? dried grains with solubles (DDGS) as a protein source to rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss), by studying digestibility and Growth measurements. One control diet, totally lacking DDGS, and three test diets were made containing 10 % (low), 31% (medium) and 51 % (high) DDGS respectively on dry matter (DM) basis. The control diet and the test diets were made to be as nutritionally equal as possible. Wheat bran was used to balance the fiber content of the diets.

In order to bring about the purpose the author used two research questions. Have low-cost airlines contributed to regional development? How many additional visitors have low-cost airlines contributed to Stockholm? In order to answer these questions a survey was carried out at Arlanda airport and statistics were collected. The results of the study show that there has been a regional development.
