Since the 1950s, the development of modern rotation forestry in boreal Fennoscandia has resulted in a severe reduction of older forests, and a high degree of fragmentation among the small patches that remains of old forest. Previous research confirms that there is a major decline of pollinators worldwide. Investigations have mainly focused on pollination services in the agricultural landscapes and therefore, there is a lack of knowledge on the effects pollinators may have in urban environment. This paper examines the presence of honey bees in central parts of Stockholm, Sweden. The study presents what conditions, possibilities and motives there are behind the phenomenon of urban bee keeping. I found ten locations with beehives and a total of 18 hives within the delimited area. Nothing seems to indicate that conditions may limit the presence of honey bees.

This qualitative case study, made with four companies, looks closer at how more effective information management, with the help of IT-systems, affect companies market communication and relations to customers and suppliers. Emerging infectious diseases are a recurring threat to both human and animal health. Understanding the multiple causes behind the emergence of new diseases is key to the prevention of new and potentially devastating outbreaks. The list of underlying causes is long, including a variety of anthropogenic, environmental, molecular and climatic changes that promote the emergence and spread of disease. Two of these factors are central to the emergence of new diseases and receive special attention in this study. The spread of disease from wildlife to livestock and diseases that spread from animals to humans (zoonoses) are of importance as they implicated in the majority of EID events.

The purpose of our essay is to develop an understanding and an insight for the fashion industry. We want to examine what the creative industries can learn from the unique position that fashion hold in a field between commercialization and art. We used a theoretical ground to enlarge our understanding for the distinctive place that fashion holds. To gain further insight in the fashion industry we complete the theory with empirical facts. The empirical facts were collected through a qualitative method with deep-going interviews.

Hemp is an annual energy crop that fits very well in Swedish crop rotations. It is an interesting crop with many benefits, for example its ability to establish a large quantity of biomass in one year. Hemp is easy to grow and out-competes unwanted weeds through its aggressive growth pattern without the need for pesticides. Interest in growing hemp and other energy crops is currently decreasing, apparently because of high grain prices. These high prices give a higher net profit that we believe could partly cover the cost of hemp cultivation, while the hemp in turn would improve the crop rotation and thus repay its debts in the form of increased yields of other crops. The great disadvantage of hemp is the lack of knowledge about spring harvest of the crop.

A great fire seized a suburb in a small town in Sweden in the autumn of 2011. Parts of a shopping mall were burnt to the ground by youngsters. Due to the suburb's earlier problems, the event was a tough ethical dilemma for the town's journalists.The purpose of this thesis was to study and examine the local newspapers ethical treatment of this event. How do they motivate their decisions on what to publish and what not to publish? How do the articles treat ethical dilemmas? What do the journalists think about ethical journalism?This study is based on a survey of the articles published about the fire in the two local newspapers seven days after the fire.

In the 1970?s it was predicted that in the beginning of the 21st century there would be a timber shortage in Sweden and a large scale introduction of the exotic tree species lodgepole pine started. An introduction of a foreign tree species means a risk of a negative influence on the forests ecosystem. Today, the stands that were established in the 70?s are middle-aged and the effect on the forest floor vegetation can be studied.

Spel och simulatorer som skall avspegla existerande miljöer måste för spelaren vara trovärdiga vad gäller landskap, arkitektur, attribut och ljussättning. För att kunna bygga och implementera sådan realistiska och trovärdiga miljöer krävs ett grundligt förarbete med referensmaterial, skissarbete och tester. Under 10 veckor har jag gjort mitt examensarbete tillsammans med Försvarshögskolan och Data Ductus AB på ett projekt som vi kallar för Foreign Ground. Det har resulterat i en djupgående förstudie och research som ska bli en bra grund för att skapa en demonstrator till ett utbildningsspel. Spelet är tänkt att användas för träning av FN-soldater som är på väg till Liberia på utlandsmission.

Denna uppsats består av två delar, den första behandlar kortfattat elementens och solsystemets genes för att fortsätta med en mer omfattande beskrivning av meteoriterna, deras klassifikation, mineralogi och upprinnelse. Den andra delen av uppsatsen beskriver prepareringen, innefattande montering, slipning, polering och etsning, samt undersökningen av Muonionalustameteoriten. Muonionalusta är en Fe,Ni-meteorit av typen oktaedrit tillhörande den kemiska gruppen IVA. Meteoriten undersöks både med hjälp av malmmikroskopi och med FE-EPMA/WDS-analys. Fem stycken metalliska faser identifierades, nämligen kamacit, taenit, troilit, schreibersit och daubréelit samt viss förekomst av vad som tros vara kromit.

Decomposition of organic matter is a critical process in the ecosystem, which involves many essential biotic and physical parts. Decomposition is therefore an important process both above and below ground. The rate of decomposition is dependent of many environmental factors for example: pH, moisture and supply of oxygen. The decomposition can therefore be affected by large scaled environmental influences, such as acidification and climatic changes. The root litter in the forest is in different ways affected by acidification, liming and manuering.

Syftet med denna studie är att belysa det sociala fenomenet  mobbning på arbetsplats, samt vilka konsekvenser som uppstår i det sociala liv och/eller arbetsliv för den person som blivit utsatt. Vi har använt oss utav kvalitativ forskning för att sätta oss in i ämnet och därfmed använt oss av kvalitativa intervjuer för den här studien. Vi har genomfört sex stycken personliga intervjuer med hjälp av en intervjuguide, vilken var indelad i tre olika teman. Vi analyserade vårt resultat med hjälp av tre teoretiska utgångspunkter, identitet, sociala roller och stigmatisering. Vi har kommit fram till att man som utsatt antar en roll under mobbningsperioden och även att mobbning ger konsekvenser av olika slag..

Syftet med vår undersökning var att undersöka om varierande skrivövningar i skolan kan få elever att upptäcka och utveckla skrivlust. Undersökningen gjordes i skolår sex i Luleå kommun under en sjuveckors period. Under dessa veckor genomfördes skrivövningar av olika slag vad gäller svårighet och längd. Parallellt med skrivövningarna genomfördes också ett antal värderingsövningar. Undersökningsklassen bestod av 22 elever, 10 flickor och 12 pojkar.
