Viktiga egenskaper hos framgångsrika svenska skolskogar :
A substantial part of the Swedish outdoor education is being practiced in so called ?school forests?. The concept school forest was first introduced in the 1980?s by the organization Skogen i Skolan. The definition of a school forest is an area that is being used for educational purposes, over which the school and the land owner has reached an agreement of how the school may utilize it.
Torrefaction of biomass : a comparative and kinetic study of thermal decomposition for Norway spruce stump, poplar and fuel tree chips
Stump biomass is energy rich and stump harvesting for use as fuel become more and more
interesting in Sweden. Swedish Forest Agency (2009) has estimated that stump harvesting in
Sweden would respond to an annual energy supply of 57 TWh/year. However, stump has not
been recognized as a bioenergy resource in Sweden. Suitable methods for pre-treatment of
stump are probably of great importance to make it accepted as fuel. It is therefore rewarding
to carry out an investigation in this area for stump.
This report represents results from a diploma project, which was aimed to develop a fixed bed
reactor for experimental study of biomass torrefaction, followed by TG analysis and kinetic
modelling employing Ozawa method and different kinetic models including one-step and
three-pseudo-component models.
Användare från båda håll ? Utökat informationsstöd inom design av registreringsprocesser
During spring 2001 we have been involved with our bachelor thesis at Doberman
Digital Agency, an Internet related webdesign company. We have focused our work
on the registration process via digital medias such as the Internet. During our
workprocess we have been conducting a number of studies and analyses of
workrelated materials. Ethnographical methods such as structured interviews and
participant observations were primarily used in our work. We also widely used
brainstorming in our designprocess.
Stadsdelsförnyelse på Öster i Gävle : En analys av fysiska faktorer för en bättre boendemiljö
Nearly 50 years after the building of the first million programme neighbourhoods many Swedish municipalities faces an extensive restoration work in these neighbourhoods which during their relatively short lifetime have acted as a target for a large amount of criticism. Öster in Gävle is a million programme neighbourhood that has gone through an extensive restoration between 2001-2009 with the aim of improving the living environment. Improvements have been made in the outdoor environment, to the facades of the houses and the entrances? of each building. The purpose of this study has been to investigate the effects of the renewal in the physical outdoor environment for those who live in the neighbourhood.
Identifiering av konfliktbestånd med hjälp av laserskanning
The interest in harvesting wood fuel in conflict stands has grown in recent years as a consequence of the increased demand for biofuel. Conflict stands are young forests that have not been cleaned and have a large number of stems ha-1with a great height and diameter distribution. This means that traditional field measurements in conflict stands are difficult and very time consuming. Therefore, the forestry sector is in need of new, more efficient inventory methods. In this study, the Lidar data from Lantmäteriet?s (the Swedish mapping, cadastral and land registration authorities) new national height model was used in combination with plots from the Swedish national forest inventory from 2009 to create functions for; height, volume, diameter and number of stems.
Analys av energiförbrukning, Akzo Nobel Functional Chemicals AB
The main purpose of this project was to make a survey of the steam and electricity consumption at Akzo Nobel Functional Chemistry AB and give suggestions of how to minimize them. These three different areas were focused on. First to make a survey of all the most important consumers, second to find the electricity consumption of the air compressors and the amount of waste heat produced from them. The third area was to calculate a model of how much fresh water that is used during a cooling sequence in the water based heating/cooling system of the reactors and give a suggestion of a suitable reuse for this water. The main result is a total survey of the energy consumption in steam and electricity. The survey shows that the second largest group after drying is heating of ventilation which gives big potentials of reducing the total steam consumption if there is a way of being self supporting in ventilation heat.
Frukost och korttidskognition ur ett ungdomsperspektiv
Sahlgrenska Academyat University of GothenburgDepartment of Internal Medicine and Clinical NutritionAbstractTitle: Breakfast and cognition from a youth perspectiveAuthor: Linn Kruse and Anneli HulldinSupervisor: Anna WinkvistExaminer: Frode SlindeProgramme: Dietician study programme, 180/240 ECTSType of paper: Examination paper, 15 hpDate: May 26, 2014Background: Breakfast as an influencing factor on cognition and is often on the table for discussion in society. A lot of research has been done about how omitting breakfast affects adolescents and their short time cognition. Cognition is complex as a concept and is measured in different ways and the existing research in the area often compares different types of breakfasts instead of the difference between eating and omitting breakfast. Objective: To evaluate the scientific evidence for an association between adolescents? breakfast eating and short time effects on cognition in adolescents.Search strategy: To find relevant articles a systematic literature search was made in the databases PubMed, Scopus and Cochrane. Search terms that were used were: children, young adults, adolescents, cognition, and breakfastSelection criteria: Ages 12-20 years, measures cognition, RCT, studies comparing breakfast eating with omitting breakfast, human studies, language English or Swedish, no sick adolescents or adolescents with diagnosis.Data collection and analysis: Two original articles met the inclusion criteria and were reviewed by the SBU audit template for RCT studies.
Planteringsförbandets inverkan på bildningen av kärnved hos tall (Pinus sylvestris L.) : en modellsimulering av planteringsförbandets inverkan?
The current state of knowledge indicates that there is more than one factor that initiates heartwood transition. This study supports its hypothesis on the theory that heartwood is formed by a fixed fraction of the annual growthring, 0,5 to 0,8 rings. To calculate heartwood volume modelings were carried out in four different pine stands with different spacings, 0,75, 1,25, 1,5 and three meters. The model indicates heartwood diameter (HWD) and is based on four explanatory variables, height (H), crown ratio (CR%), diameter breast height (DBH) and tree height (TH). The shifting plant spacing results in varying growth rate in the juvenile stage.
Utveckling av en äldre villaträdgård : från oplanerad till planerad
The result of this work is a plan for the development of an 1128 m2 elderly raised garden. The purpose has been to create an overall plan covering the long-term development
of the garden.
The work process has covered a description of the garden of today, review of requirements, analysis of the garden sections, design of a new plan as well as starting the construction of the new garden.
The plan covers a time period of a couple of years to create the new garden since the
construction work is carried out during spare time with small resources available. The planning must contain review of functions such as protection from insight, eating area and compost area.
Also the esthetic expression must be planned. Colors, shapes, choice of material and plants together make up the esthetic expression.
It is recommended to include anything you wish to create in the garden. In a raised garden one has to overcome the step to remove trees and shrubs and think different.
EU:s normativa makt inom miljöområdet : En fallstudie om EU:s roll i det globala klimatarbetet
Over the past twenty years, the cooperation within the European Union (EU) has strengthened and expanded with both more number of Member States and stronger influence on international politics. The unique character of the Union and its ability to enforce peace and humanitarian intervention has attracted attention in political science. This prominent position of the Union is perceived by many scholars who often hold this derived from the Union's influence in international relations. Various terms have been used to define the powers of the Union. The British researcher Ian Manners states that the unique identity of the Union in the international arena is formed by its normative power. An important policy area within the Union is the environmental cooperation.
A competitor?s reflections : reflections about competing in an international architectural competition: LE:NOTRE Student Competition - (re)discovering the emerald necklace of Colentina
In the profession of architects there is an element called architectural competitions,
where several architects compete in submitting the best solution for a certain task. In
this master?s thesis I am studying the competitor?s perspective of an international
architectural competition, while at the same time gaining experiences for my future
career as a landscape architect. The aim of this thesis is to through an introspection of
my own process examine a competitors view of the international architectural
competition and how to approach the difficulties concerning international competitions.
Through that I hope obtain experience about the international competition as part of
the profession of landscape architects and other involved professions. To examine a
competitor?s reflection of an international competition, I entered and competed in
LE:NOTRE Student Competition, a competition for students where the task was to
develop 25 kilometers of complex urban periphery along a chain of natural and artificial
lakes in Bucharest, Romania.
Uppfödning av slaktgrisar (Sus scrofa domestica) i stora grupper : gruppstorlekens betydelse för grisars välfärd och produktionsresultat
This literature study deals with the pig industry and how group size and available floor area affects the animal welfare and the production results. It shows that both the pigs? welfare and production result can be affected negatively if the environment seems stressful for the pigs, and if they are housed in a narrow area. If the pigs are being exposed to either physiological or psychological stress factors their immune system can be decreased and the growth can be impaired. Influence by the social status of the pigs is also reviewed.
Om Lettlands utveckling som destination : en jämförelse av turismindustrin under landets självständighetsperioder
Latvia has been an independent state twice, the first time during the years 1918-1940 and the second time from the year 1991 and ahead. During these two periods Latvia has been a destination for tourists. The aim of this study is to describe how Latvia as a destination has developed during the years of independence. One further aim is to compare what Latvia?s tourism industry looked like during the same periods to descry similarities and differences.
Hur byggnadsdetaljer ändrar fasadens uttryck
An energy study has been performed on two blocks in an area called Gävle Strand. The buildings are owned by a tenant-owner?s association called brf Carolina and were built by the company Skanska 2008. The builder as well as brf Carolina are pussled by the fact that electricity use is higher than expected while heating is less. Skanska is also very interested in finding out how much heat recovery from stale exhaust air through a geo-thermal heat pump is contributing to the general heating requirement and energy balance in four out of the ten buildings located on the properties. To find possible answers to the higher electricity use a literature survey on user behaviour was conducted.
Resurssnåla materialflöden - En fallstudie på Volvo Powertrain
From the customer?s perspective the only reason for a firm to exist is the value it creates. However, a problem within manufacturing companies is that of the total lead time, only a small part can be considered as value adding. It has further been discovered that when working with improvements businesses often sub-optimizes single processes instead of considering what benefits the entire company. Thus, when improving processes and activities it is important to have knowledge about and understand which factors that affect how the flow can be designed.Several studies have been performed with a wide perspective on process flows in order to obtain a more resource-efficient and value added flow.
