This thesis evaluates and compares the retrieval effectiveness of the two search engines Google Scholar and Scirus, which both specialises in indexing scholarly material on the web as well as journal articles. Thirty search queries are used and the first twenty retrieved documents for each query are examined for topical relevance and scholarly content. The search queries are based on legitimate information needs taken from a scientific questionbox on the web. Queries are expressed with advanced search operators and are the same for both search engines. Precise relevance criteria are set up and a binary scale is used when judging.

Denna uppsats söker svar på huruvida marknadens värdering av Google grundar sig på rimliga förväntningar om framtida omsättningstillväxt och vinstmarginal. För att besvara detta har kassaflödesmodeller använts genom ?baklängesberäkningar?, det vill säga att man utifrån en given aktiekurs estimerar vilka framtida förväntningar marknaden har på omsättningstillväxt och vinstmarginal. Utgångspunkt har tagits i att applicera Yahoos faktiska utveckling från 1997- 2005 på Google 2005- 2013. Uppkomna skillnader i företagens olika situationer har identifierats och sedan undersökts med hjälp av regressionsanalys.

The purpose of this thesis is to present and analyze population developments within Umeå municipality during the period 1992 to 2012. The study also aims to discuss growth trends presented in previous papers to seek common factors and get a deeper understanding.Data for 1992, 2002 and 2012 on a sub area level supplied by Umeå municipality was used. The study shows a continued positive development across almost all sub areas, but a differing growth rate from centre to periphery, and also a diversified medium age among the inhabitants.While the city center continues to have the highest growth of population during the studied years, a recent trend seems to point to a growing popularity to settle in the outskirts of the municipality, primarily near the coast..

More and more people today manage their social relationships through social networking sites. A social networking site is a virtual place where people can meet and interact with each other. On such sites, one can use the various features and attributes to present ourselves to the friends we have online. The central question of this report is what characteristics of relationships show on social networking sites. With the features and attributes that are represented and whether the architect for a social networking site affects the relationship between friends.

Uppsatsens syfte är att argumentera för ett verklighetsbaserat lärande inom geografiämnet för årskurs 5. Som ett pedagogiskt verktyg för detta ändamål prövar och diskuterar jag sökmotorn Google Earth (GE) och visar genom 4 exempel hur man kan använda detta verktyg. Jag prövar också GE:s lämplighet i förhållande till de tre ämnesfälten kartografi, fördelning och hållbar utveckling genom att formulera tre lektionsförslag. Jag gör också en kritisk granskning av aktuell forskning kring läromedel och ställer detta mot texter hämtade från kursplanen i Geografi. I min analys når jag fram till att fördelarna med att använda sig av GE i förhållande till traditionella läromedel är främst att eleverna på ett naturligt sätt kommer i kontakt med autentiska och aktuella problemfält som rör vår jord.

We have chosen to focus on how trends in ecological products and Functional Food influence the line extensions. The competition in the food sector have made it harder for companies to be seen in the market area and the companies have to make their brands more visible. That is one of the reasons why companies work with line extensions. The study is based on a qualitative approach because we wanted to come closer to our subject in order to establish a greater understanding for the case itself.

In this study, the sea trout (Salmo trutta) spawning migration was studied in the river Själsöån, Gotland, to assess the main external factors determining upstream migration and seasonal changes in fish parameters. Additionally population trends were studied by examination of old data. The most important external factors for upstream migration were the air pressure, air temperature and wind direction. No significant difference was found between when males and females migrated upstream. Larger females in better condition started migration earlier than the smaller females in poorer condition.

The purpose of this essay is to examine what happens with library e-resources after implementing the discovery tool Summon. Summon provides a Google-like experience and uses multiple facet options when users need to narrow their discovery. Observations of change in the libraries e-resources with regards to database searches, click-throughs in linkresolvers and full text downloads are examined through looking at earlier reports and statistics from libraries in America and England.
