Varför slutar barn att sjunga? : En studie om barns sångutveckling ur ett genusperspektiv

The study deals with three questions concerning attitudes to singing: When does the joy of singing with Girls and boys change to a feeling of ?I can not sing?? What is it that affects them? Are there any differences between Girls and boys attitudes to singing?A questionnaire with 12 questions about singing was distributed to 5 Girls and 5 boys in (Swedish) grade 1, 4 and 8. It turned out that the Girls in the study ?play with singing? together or by themselves, while the boys are satisfied singing in school on music lessons. Because of this, the singing interest for boys gets lower and lower between 10 and 14 years.

Newspaper articles and media have shown that the use of illegal weight loss compounds, such as ephedrine and Melanotan, is becoming more common among adolescent Girls, who are at risk of becoming a new group of addicts. These Girls are rarely aware of the risks that the use of these compounds entails and the consequences that could adversely affect their bodies, mentally and physically. The aim of this paper was to investigate the use of and attitudes towards illegal weight loss compounds amongst Girls in year three, at Swedish upper secondary schools. In order to do that, a questionnaire was sent out to 120 Girls in five different high schools, with varying college preparatory and vocational program directions. My research shows that the use of illegal weight loss compounds, particularly ephedrine, was found among Girls in year three, at upper secondary schools. Seven percent of the Girls claimed they use, primarily, ephedrine. This result exceeds earlier studies findings on boys' use of anabolic androgenic steroids (AAS).

The main purpose of this thesis was to take part of girl?s descriptions and experiences of their treatment for deliberate self-harm and to investigate whether they still experience effects of the treatment today. Our main research questions where; how do the Girls describe their experiences of the treatment method, do the Girls describe that they still experience any effects of the treatment, and finally how do the Girls look back on their treatment today? In order to answer these questions, we carried out eight qualitative telephone interviews with Girls that had undergone treatment in a specific treatment centre. We chose to analyze the material from the salutogenic theory and the concepts of SOC (sense of coherence) and with a hermeneutic approach.

My ambition with his exam is to study how young Girls are being depicted in swedish novels of 2010. I have analyzed how the identity and the search for identity are produced in these books. To be able to make my analysis of these books I have used Maria Nikolajeva?s book Barnbokens byggklossar. From wich I have worked out a few questions that I have used my analysis in the portrayal of these Girls.

The purpose of this essay is to examine formations of gender and class of so called horse Girls in a riding school located in Stockholm, Sweden. The essay is based on interviews with six Girls in the ages between fifthteen and eighteen. Through the theoretical framework of Judith Butler and Beverley Skeggs, I examine how the Girls negotiate the boundaries and probabilities within doing gender in an upper and middleclass associated area. As a result of its female domination, the stable functions as a place where the Girls can dislocate themselves from otherwise normative feminine practises. This is possible since the premises of the stable are constructed in the light of the heterosexual matrix, where the Girls organise themselves within the heterosexual girl collective.

Abstract This essay is about Girls that have chosen a gender atypical education on a gymnasia level. Since we are living in a society that is still today gender segregated in both working life as well as educational area, we find it interesting that it still exist an paradox which leads us to the question ?why? those Girls and boys, woman and man choose so differently. We are not aiming towards study how many Girls that have chosen a gender atypical education but rather how these Girls that are on the construction program in one of Stockholm?s gymnasium have deliberated and what it is that has influenced them.

The aim of this study was; from a group of boys and Girls description and interpretation of interaction with other young people, personnel and the environment of the youth centre illuminate how the social gender are constructed and maintained at the youth centre. In this study we have tried to analyse the phenomena from an intersectionalistic perspective. Except gender, the analytic category social class have been tried to capture. Our theoretical standing point is social constructivism. Institutionalized structures in our society are constructed by humans, gender is not only a biological construction it is also a man created construction.

Jämställdhet i förskolans verksamhet : En observationsstudie om hur pedagoger förhåller sig till flickor och pojkar ur ett könsperspektiv

The purpose of this study is to look into if the pedagogues who participate in this study treat children differently depending on their sex. The purpose was then divided in three research questions which were: Attention: How much verbal attention and eye contact with the pedagogue are Girls/boys getting? Choice of words: Are there any differences in the choice of words the pedagogues are using against Girls/boys? Address: How does the pedagogue address Girls/boys, are there any differences? The tone of the voice and how the pedagogue address Girls/boys belongs in this category. The study was observed with video camera in four different circle time situations, two circle times for each preschool. Data were then analyzed with an observation schedule based on the three research questions.

"Det skall vara roligt och spännande!" En studie av 9-12-åriga flickors fritidsläsning.

This is a thesis about 9-12-year old Girls and their leisure reading. The purpose of this study is to examine their reading experiences. The method we use is a combination of qualitative interviews and studies of literature. The thesis shows that there seem to be four basic needs in Girls that can be satisfied by leisure reading; the need to develop language skills; the need to be entertained; the need to gain knowledge of the world and the need to get help to resolve personal issues. The interviews with nine Girls show that they primarily read for fun and that the knowledge and insights that are conveyed in literature come in second place.

Girls with foreign background is the group that is most left outside the sports movement in Sweden and the ones with the least sports habit. Sports assumed to provide an arena for integration that these Girls are being left outside from. The Swedish sports movement has adapted the conditions for them as a way to encourage them to participate in sports, but there are still lots of Girls with foreign background that stands outside the sports movement. One input that the Swedish National Association has done for children and young adults is to adopt the Drive-in-sport, which can work as an entrance to the sports movement. The aim of the study is therefore to investigate which barriers, motivators and requests Girls in Sweden with foreign background have to participate in Drive-in-sports.

Today several things point to the fact that many young women are being abused and sexual harassed. Despite that there is no knowledge about how the Girls handle the violence or how the battering affects them. For that reason the purpose of this study is to describe and give a picture of some girl?s experiences of being battered of men they have or have had a relationship with. In focus is also how these Girls identities are affected of the battering.

Ungdomars upplevelser av sina konsumtionsmöjligheter : En enkätundersökning i en sjundeklass

The object of this essay was about youth's experiences of their possibility of consumption. We also wanted to analyze if their possibility of consumption had a connection with their experience of happiness. Another part of the object was to see if there where any differences between Girls and boys concerning the questions above. One of the issues we had was if the youth's money was enough for their needs of consumption. The method we used were a questionnaire, which we asked a class of 22 pupils to fill in.

The aim of this thesis was to investigate if teenage Girls in Sweden have a tendency to join gangs as they do in the United States.
