The farming system is the basis of human existence through its production of provisions for man. By a continuous exchange of information, energy and material, between the ecosystems and the social systems, the farming system becomes an emergent property. The system's own properties, in the sense of farming methods, circulations and institutions, evolve through an adaptive process. Understanding this process and constantly learn from it, is the starting point for creating a sustainable development within farming systems. Thus, future farming system has to develop strategies that produce food provisions while at the same time takes into consideration the ecosystem's resilience and its integrity, but which also enables an ethical discussion. The institutions within the farming system are understood as links between the ecosystems and the social systems.

Title: Development and continuity: A new institutional case study of a Danish public library in changeAbstract: The purpose of this master's thesis is to discuss and analyse the relationship between the traditional core values belonging to the institution of the public library, and the development work that takes place at the institution. The thesis also investigates the relationships that influence the development work.By investigating a library that is considered progressive in its development work, our purpose is also to unveil alternative values that compete with the traditional core values. By illustrating the perception among seven staff members and the director at Aarhus Public Libraries, we want to illuminate the terms for development among public libraries. In addition to our interviews, an activity plan is studied.We base our study on new institutional theory which focuses on norms and values in an organisation. This focus helps us to understand the development work from a comprehensive view.Our study shows that the development work at Aarhus Public Libraries is taking place in a complex environment that consists of several different actors and different interpretationsof the traditional core values of public libraries.

Syftet med uppsatsen är att belysa mötet mellan de arbetssökande och arbetsförmedlingen som institution sett ur bådas perspektiv. Vi vill få en djupare förståelse både för de arbetssökande och för arbetsförmedlarna samt deras personliga upplevelser av mötet. Uppsatsens sociologiska perspektiv är symbolisk interaktionism. Eftersom det är upplevelsen av mötet och därmed den interaktion och samspel som uppstår är detta perspektiv relevant för studien. För att få en djupare förståelse för upplevelsen av mötet mellan de arbetssökande och arbetsförmedlarna har en kvalitativ metod använts.

The aim of the study has been to explore what participation and hope means for persons with disabilities living in an institution called Horizon House, in Stellenbosch South Africa. The aim has also been to discover the South African approach to disability and how Horizon House fits into this approach. Horizon House is an institution and a protective workplace in Stellenbosch for adults whose main impairment is of an intellectual nature but there are also physical and emotional disabilities. Another aim has been to explore the perspectives of the residents. The research questions of the study are: ? What does participation imply for the residents of Horizon House?? What does Hope represent for the residents of Horizon House?? What importance can hope have for people with disabilities, in their approach towards increased participation? We travelled to South Africa during a two week period in March 2009, where we participated at the protective workplace of Horizon House.

The study approach was based on a few specific questions: (1) What aspects of the treatment have contributed to a motivation to abandon the criminal life style? (2) What have motivated the juveniles to make a decision to leave the criminal life style? (3) Are there any specific internal or external protectional factors that have been decisive for the rehabilitation process and, if so, are they linked to intrinsic or extrinsic motivation? The study rests on the theoretical foundation created by earlier research on institutional care, motivation and protectional factors. Interviews were chosen as a method to secure qualitative data and the interview manual was designed on the basis of themes that reflect the questions of the study. Six young people?s perception of their treatment is documented in the study, as well as their opinion on the effectiveness of the treatment.

Uppsatsen främsta syfte var att undersöka hur kursen Svenska 1 har utformats på en gymnasieskolas bygg- och anläggningsprogram efter införandet av Gy 11. Med hjälp av samtalsintervjuer undersöktes vad lärarna ansåg att eleverna skulle ha haft möjlighet att tillägna sig efter avslutad kurs. Undersökningen syftade även till att undersöka i vilken mån lärarna ansåg att undervisningen och dess innehåll borde riktas mot de nationella proven, som efter införandet av Gy11 utgör en del av svenskkursen i årskurs 1 på gymnasieskolan. Resultatet av undersökningen har tolkats mot bakgrund av hur skolan som institution har organiserats över tid samt utifrån de utbildningstraditioner som utgör den gymnasiemiljö som undervisningen bedrivs i. Lärarnas syn på sin yrkesroll och sitt uppdrag som myndighetsutövare utgör en annan förklaring. Den nya ämnesplanen visade sig vara mycket närvarande för lärarna och det var främst den som styrde kursens utformning enligt dem själva.

The empirical data used for this master thesis, consists of eight manuals with the main purpose to help students evaluate information resources found on the web or Internet. The purpose is to elucidate the discourses and investigate those textual characteristics, which figure in the investigated manuals. The method used is a discursive and linguistic approach, with a power/knowledge discussion applied to the results. The analysis identifies, among other things, the production and consumption of the investigated texts, and that the manuals function as a reflection of the relationship between the participants in the situation, the sociocultural practice of the institution and its identity..

Verksamheter som bedriver effektivt Systematiskt Arbetsmiljöarbete (SAM) har visats ha friskare ochnöjdare arbetstagare, bättre anseende, och större monetära framgångar, än verksamheter som inte gördet. Det saknas emellertid förståelse för vilka arbets- eller förhållningssätt som bidrar eller leder till attvissa verksamheter lyckas bedriva SAM effektivt. Hitintills har fallstudier fokuserat på hur SAM bedrivsi sin helhet eller på vilka brister som finns, oavsett om företaget bedriver SAM effektivt eller inte. Kortsagt saknas relevant underlag. I detta arbete studeras en verksamhet inom äldrevården (ett yrke medöverlag bristande arbetsmiljö och stort behov av effektivt SAM) som bedriver effektivt SAM, i syfte attförstå hur och varför de har lyckats.

Älgeredskollektivet är ett behandlingshem som riktar sig till ungdomar med allvarliga beteendeproblem. Behandlingen utförs genom användandet av en rad olika arbetsmetoder vilket bland annat innefattar medlevarskap, som är en relativt ovanlig behandlingsmetod i Sverige. En explorativ fallstudie genomfördes för att jämföra beskrivningen av Älgeredskollektivets arbetsmetoder med vad som enligt forskning kan klassas som effektiv institutionsbehandling av ungdomar. Rapporten baserades på kollektivets verksamhetsbeskrivning och kompletterades med datorstödda intervjuer med kollektivets personal. Resultatet visar att Älgeredskollektivet har valt sina arbetsmetoder/modeller utifrån forskning men att det finns brister i genomförandet av dessa utifrån vedertagna manualer.

The purpose of this two years master thesis is to examine the potential benefits of using bibliotherapy on elderly Finnish immigrants residing in Sweden and living in geriatric care. The basis of the study is a four week long bibliotherapeutic project implemented at a nursing home for Finnish-speaking people in Stockholm County.Participants were men and women spanning in age from 70 to 90 years old. Common for all the participants was that they had lived their entire adult life in Sweden, their only language was Finnish, and they had the diagnosis of dementia. The study examines the bibliotherapeutic model of Arleen McCarty Hynes and Mary Hynes-Berry, as well as Inger Eriksson?s approach for the use of bibliotherapy in nursing homes and hospices.The empirical analysis is based on field notes from the bibliotherapeutic sessions and from interviews with librarians and nurses involved in the project.

CI-metoden är en ny behandlingsmetod för barn och ungdomar med CP-hemiplegi. Metoden innebr att man genom en restrikion på den intakta armen och handen främjar rörelse i den hemiplegiska armen oc handen i syfte att förbättra användningen av den armen och handen i dagliga aktiviteter.Syftet med litteraturstudien är att beskriva CI-metoden och dess effekter på funktions- och aktivitetsförmåga hos barn och ungdomar med CP-hemiplegi.För att få svar på studiens syfte och frågeställningar gjordes en systematisk litteraturstudie som baseras på vetenskapliga artiklar om effekter av behandling med CI-metoden på barn och ungdomar med hemiplegi till följd av en CP-skada. Studien baseras på sammanlagt 12 artiklar, varav 11 studier från åren 2001-2006 och en studie från 1997. Artiklara är sökta i AMED, Cinahl samt Medline.Resultatet visar att barnen och ungdomarna genom behandling med CI-metoden gjorde förbättringar i både funktions- och aktivitetsförmåga. Många av de förbättringar som gjorts under behandlingen kvarstod även vid uppföljningen, fyra veckor till sex månader senare.

Syftet med studien är att visa en ökad förståelse för enhetschefers upplevelser av ett ledarskap utifrån den geografiska placeringen. Denna förståelse har vi huvudsakligen erhållit genom intervjuer med nio enhetschefer inom äldreomsorgen, varav fyra som arbetar i direkt anslutning till sina medarbetare, fyra på distans och en som både arbetar i närhet och på distans till sina medarbetare. Intervjuerna utfördes i en mellanstor kommun i södra Sverige. Studien utgår från en kvalitativ metod med en hermeneutisk ansats där intervjuerna grundas på ett semistrukturerat tillvägagångssätt, vilket innebär att enhetschefernas svar medför en djupare förståelse för deras åsikter kring den geografiska placeringen. Studiens resultat visar både för- och nackdelar med att styra ett ledarskap i närhet samt på distans.

In the prison of Kumla, Sweden`s highest security classified institution, spiritual retreats are pursued since 2001. The aim is to offer the inmates a possibility to enter deeply into spiritual contemplation. This spiritual contemplation is made possible through the fact that the prisoners carry out a retreat designed after guidelines written by Ignatius of Loyola in his Spiritual Exercises. The purpose of this examination is to study how ordinary institutional life in comparison to monastic life defines and creates different attitudes and roles amongst the inmates. A secondary aim is to describe the consequences of the retreat on individual basis.
