Syftet med den här uppsatsen är att undersöka hur fantasy kan användas för att öka elevers läsförståelse. Min uppsats är teoretisk på så sätt att jag inte har gjort någon empirisk undersökning. Jag har istället använt mig av läsförståelseundersökningar, litteratur om läsning samt genomfört en litteraturanalys av Tolkiens Härskarringen. De undersökningar jag använt mig av, PISA-undersökningen från 2009 och IEA:s undersökning om läsförståelse, visar att pojkar generellt har sämre läsförståelse, framförallt på de berättande texterna, och därför har jag valt att fokusera på fantasy, som är en genre som Olin-Scheller (2006) i sin undersökning kommit fram till att pojkar föredrar. Pojkars sämre läsförståelse kan förstås som vilken läsarroll de intar vid läsningen, ett uttryck från Appleyard som Olin-Scheller använder sig av för att förklara elevers läsning. Då högre läsförståelse kräver att läsaren intar rollen som tolkare, har jag i min analys av Tolkiens Härskarringen gått in i den rollen och visat på de delar i verken som en lärare skulle kunna lyfta fram för eleverna. Eftersom pojkar inte lika ofta når upp till rollen som tolkare och därför avvisar texter som kräver den rollen vill jag visa hur de kan stanna i den genre de trivs med (här kommer motivationsaspekten in) och ändå utveckla sina läsarroller.

Forskarna verkar vara lika omedvetna om denna genre som de flesta andra man frågar. Va, finns det porr i radio? är den vanligaste frågan jag fått när jag blivit tillfrågad att berätta om vad mitt c-arbete handlar.

Problem Då genusframställningen i medierna tenderar att bidra till att skapa stereotyper och en möjligt felaktig bild av kvinnor finns ett behov av att studera på vilket sätt en medietext har möjlighet att skapa kvinnliga konstruktioner ? positiva och negativa. Genom att studera Förkvälls språk ville vi komma fram vad innehållet förmedlade, vad som sägs varför. Syfte Uppsatsens syfte är att studera om och hur konstruktioner av kvinnan och kvinnlighet förmedlas genom språket i programmet Förkväll.Bakgrund Förkväll sänds på TV4 måndag till fredag på kvällstid. Programmet leds av fyra kvinnliga programledare och sänds från andra våningen på T-centralen i Stockholm.

This essay aims to investigate how students raised in Jehovah's Witnesses have experienced their career counseling during their middle and high school education. My main objectives are, based on the testimonies of former Jehovah's Witnesses, to investigate how career counselors can find a strategy to approach these students in a non-threatening way. I also try to take into account the contextual elements which are of great importance when counseling students raised as Jehovah's Witnesses. A qualitative study has been carried out with five informants with a background in the movement. The material has then been analyzed using a qualitative, narrative method.

In 1896, a French cinema pioneer named George Méliès demonstrated that an object could be set to motion by changing the objects shape or movement frame by frame. ABSTRACTThe aim of this study was to examine the relationship between job satisfaction, birth order and sensation seeking. The sample consisted of 179 jobholders in four different organizations in southern Sweden, with an average age of 44 years (SD = 12,12). A questionnaire consisting of three parts was used to map out and measure the participants? family background, birth order, job satisfaction and sensation seeking. The study showed no significant relationship between birth order and job satisfaction (p = 0,127).

This study is about differences in knowledge regarding animals. In the study five year old preschool children from a city were compared to five year old preschool children in the suburbs with multicultural background. The study is also about where children´s knowledge about animals comes from and how educators can make a positive difference. To find this out standardized interviews was used on 23 children from four different preschools, two preschools in the suburbs with 15 children and two preschools in the city with 13 children. A survey was sent out to the educators within these preschools to gather background information on what the children do regarding animals.

This is a qualitative analysis based on interviews with five students, aged 17-19, all with an immigrant background and with a history of being successful in their school work. The students were interviewed twice with an interval of 1 to 1.5 years. The main purpose of this essay is to learn more about these students? experiences and to understand their conceptions of being students in the Swedish school system. Another aim is to put focus on the chosen target group, since it is a category of students that seldom gets attention in media or research.

Aim: The study aims to investigate the distribution of grades between students in a practical subject and in a theoretical subject.The problem:What is the grade distribution in physical education and mathematics, with respect to gender, socioeconomic background, parental education, ethnicity, and physical activity?Method:To answer the aim of the study a quantitative method was chosen. As the collection method used was questionnaires to 620 students in the 9th grade in Stockholm. Of the 620 questionnaires, 597 questionnaires were used for the static analysis. The method of analysis used cross tables and logistic regression analysis.

Previous research shows that small workplaces more often discriminate immigrants during the process of hiring new employees than larger workplaces, and usually explains this result by referring to structural factors. At the same time, previous research also shows that self-employees tend to have different personality traits than other people. Could it be the case that the higher discrimination among small workplaces can be explained at an individual level? I examined the hypothesis through OLS-regressions using a survey called Employment, Material Resources, and Political Preferences. The results showed that people working at small workplaces tend to have more negative attitudes towards immigrants than people working at larger workplaces.

The part that internet plays in their lives and their attitude towards the educational system is reflected upon the philosophical background that stretches from Kant to postmodern philosophers such as Baudrillard. The aim is to create knowledge about how the social aspects of the internet affects their concepts of reality and their own and others identities. The method used for the collection of empirical data has been semi-structured interviews, preformed with students in a Swedish gymnasium. The data is then interpreted against the theoretical and philosophical background.

This thesis examines the municipalities of Västra Götaland and the way they are prepared for crisis communication towards people with a foreign background. Over the past years there have been several studies that have examined the issue of crisis communications towards minorities but these are often focused on the target group. In this study, I focus on the authorities' actions. The theoretical approach is primarily an intersectional one and in this way the thesis is centred on the creation of different categories, the relationship between these categories and the possibilities working with these at the municipalities.On behalf of Region Västra Götaland, this investigation began with a survey that went out to the communications officers in charge of the crisis communication in each municipality. The ambition was to clarify the preparedness of each one and show how they relate to one another.

The purpose with our essay is to examine how Arabic young men, with Islamic background, behave to the origin culture of alcohol in relation to the Swedish alcohol culture. To get the information we used a qualitative method. We interviewed young men with Islamic background.Some central questions that character our essay was about the interview person's positions between the different alcohol cultures and if the Islamic religion in some way affects their view on alcohol. Another important question was how they interpret the message of the Koran about alcohol.The conclusion with our study is that the majority of the interview persons consider them selves between the two different alcohol cultures. All of the interview persons were in some way influenced of the Islamic religions rules concerning the use of alcohol and this even if some of the persons didn't see themselves as faithful Muslims..

För första gången sedan 1970-talets vänstervåg förekommer klassbegreppet i stor utsträckning på den mediala agendan. Trots begreppets ökade förekomst tycks dess innebörd och relevans idag vara oklar. Ambitionen med denna uppsats är att analysera och diskutera klassbegreppets innebörd och betydelse genom en fallstudie av Sveriges Radios rapportering av den ?överklassafari? som anordnades av den vänsterpolitiska organisationen Allt åt alla i början av 2012. Målet med denna ?safari? var att rasera bilden av Sverige som ett klasslöst land genom att låta allmänheten ta del av en guidad busstur i det välbärgade bostadsområdet Solsidan i Stockholm. Denna händelse fick stor uppmärksamhet och diskuterades på flera håll; inte minst i public service-mediet Sveriges Radio, vars främsta uppgift är att förse allmänheten med värderingsfri samhällsinformation. Med utgångspunkt i detta anspråk granskas begreppets innebörd i Sveriges Radios rapportering, förankrat i klassbegreppets historiska utveckling och med teorier om olika perspektiv på klass som hjälpmedel. Metoden som används är Faircloughs kritiska diskursanalys, där skildrandet av händelsen undersöks i relation till genre och journalistens position. Några entydiga innebörder av klassbegreppet har inte hittats.
