Intellectual Property Rights in Software : A Critical Investigation from an Ethical Perspective

The development of software was considered until the beginning of the 1990th as a cathedral like product development in closed companies. This way of development changed in the last decade. Open source software (OSS) development challenged this consideration significantly. OSS is produced in co-operation by skilled people, distributed and used by many moral agents. The result, the software itself, can be studied and modified.

The movement of the allotment gardens reached Sweden in the beginning of the last century. The allotment gardens quickly spread among the big towns from Malmö in the south and to the far north of the country. Today, there are about 42 000 owners of allotment gardens in Sweden. This work will show the differencies and similarities comparing the original ideas of allotment gardens with how they are used today. The specific questions were; what are the reasons to acquire an allotment garden; is it used for raising vegetables and fruit or only for growing flowers; is what is cultivated there also gathered and used or is it cultivated only for the pleasure of gardening; and finally how the owners of the allotment gardens spend their time there ? by cultivating the land or by recreational activities. Literature studies were made as well as an inquiry at one allotment garden area i Lund. The ideas of the original allotment gardens in the beginning of the 20th century were as much based on the need of getting out of the aparment to a healthy environment, as cultivating vegetables for economical reasons.

It is important, for companies operating on a homogeneous product market, to understand and adapt to customer needs. Since coffee is a homogeneous product in food retail it is vital for coffee companies to work extensively with differentiation and the fierce competition. The prevailing homogenity makes it difficult for companies to develop the product itself and must therefore work to create added value to the product.The purpose of this thesis is to carry out a study on consumer decision-making when purchasing homogeneous products, and to examine how companies work to strengthen their brand and gain market share in a homogeneous product market. The market that this thesis highlights is the coffee market.To answer the purpose of this thesis the writers have conducted a questionnaire survey regarding consumers? decision-making process and interviewed two marketing managers for two major actors on the coffee market.

Bacterial contamination of eggshells in conventional cages and litter floor systems for laying hens in Jordan

In the country of Jordan, egg production is very important economically, but several bacte-ria are involved in food borne diseases transmitted from eggs or other poultry products. The most important are Salmonella spp., Campylobacter jejuni and Escherichia coli. In Jordan two different housing systems are used for hens in large scale egg production; con-ventional cages and litter floor systems. Eggs from four different farms were analysed and compared to see if a difference could be found regarding the presence of pathogenic bacte-ria on the egg surfaces between these two systems. Travelling All Inclusive implicate that a traveler goes on a trip where food, beverage, room and sometimes activities are included as everything is already paid in advance. The purpose with this study is to examine what it is that have motivated people to travel All Inclusive and to examine how people and travel companies reason about the possible economical effect All Inclusive have on a destination and a local population. We chose to conduct a survey over Facebook. As a complement to the survey and to find out how travel companies reflect on All Inclusives effects, we chose to implement email interviews with Ticket, Solresor and Airtours. The theories in this study focus on travel motivation, travel personalities and All Inclusive's impact on a destination and a local population.

Ostar gjorda på pastöriserad respektive opastöriserad mjölk. En sensorisk jämförelse

En del personer, framförallt osttillverkare och butiksinnehavare, hävdar att det finns sensoriska skillnader mellan ostar gjorda på pastöriserad och opastöriserad mjölk. Frågan är om detta stämmer och vad som i så fall skiljer dem åt smak-, textur- och arommässigt. Det här är en litteraturstudie som bygger på fakta från fyra vetenskapliga artiklar. Artiklarna, som alla är vetenskapligt granskade och publicerade i någon tidskrift, hämtades från någon av databaserna Summon och Food Science and Technology Abstracts (FSTA). I alla artiklar framgick det att det fanns tydliga sensoriska skillnader mellan ostar gjorda på pastöriserad och opastöriserad mjölk.

Lokalproducerade livsmedel i Gävleborg : Köpmännens attityder

Syftet med studien är att undersöka vilken roll livsmedelsbutikerna har när det gäller att öka efterfrågan och konsumtionen av lokalproducerade livsmedel. Faktorer så som utbud, prissättning, variation samt marknadsföring och exponering har undersökts. Studien omfattar totalt 15 butiker i Gävle, Sandviken, Hofors, Ockelbo och Järvsö, och har varit en del av projektet,?Ditt val spelar roll ?Konsumentens roll i den moderna livsmedelsproduktionen?, som är ett samarbete mellan Länsstyrelsen i Gävleborg och Högskolan i Gävle. Undersökningen har genomförts genom att enkäter har skickats ut till de 15 butikscheferna.

Kost- och motionsvanors betydelse vid Diabetes Mellitus : En litteraturstudie

The aim of this study was to describe the importance of diet and physical activity related to Diabetes Mellitus (diabetes). Method used was a descriptive literature study based on empirical studies. The study shows that diet, physical activity and lifestyle-changes are very important factors when it comes to preventing and treating of diabetes. By the right diet and physical activity the treatment with medications in some cases can be superfluous and people with the disease could live longer and be healthier during their lifetime. Nurses have the responsibility to educate, inform and make sure that the diabetic patient gets the best care as possible specially suited for this individual patient.

The aim of this study is to bring forward four teachers of Arts-education, their statements and reasoning concerning the condition and meaning of the subject of Arts-education along with their statements in relation to theory and earlier research, give voice and insight in their intentions according to what teaching of Arts-education should contribute to.The basis for the study is brought out of the dilemma that there, in the subject of Artseducation is ?crowding of matter? in the nine-year compulsory school, difficulties in selecting the importance of various subjects and different opinions between teachers, due to curriculum being modified in accordance with the development in society. The earlier research that this study relates to shows how teacher?s opinion of different subjects varies. My questions concerning the subject are the following;How do four teachers of Arts-education reason concerning the condition and meaning of the subject of Arts-education?What are the teachers intentions according to what teaching of Arts-education should contribute to?What are the similarities and differences between the statements of the teachers in this study versus the teachers' statements according to previous research?To find answers on my issues and questions I have made interviews with four teachers of Arts-education and have then put their reasoning and statements against theories , which  all concerns the creative process.

The present study concerns a concept development of a product idea that Bengt Magnuson, associate professor, had when a heavy storm caused a widespread power failure of long duration. With a basic power-producing unit one should be able to get through a power loss. The product could also be useful for other tasks if different modules are connected, e g grass mower or snow-blower.According to the product idea the basic unit will be able to produce electric power enough for a fridge, freezer, TV, and a few electric lamps. Normally the basic unit can be used e g as a mower, when such a module is attached. An increased number of tasks would make the contraption useful and tempting for those who do not own an electrical power set in reserve.

Ekologisk konsumtion : Vanas och kunskapens makt

Miljöproblemen blir allt mer aktuella, människor blir mer upplysta och utbudet av de ekologiska livsmedlen ökar i butikerna. Allt fler börjar handla ekologiskt, men fortfarande är det merparten som väljer att inte handla ekologiskt trots att de har en positiv inställning till ekologisk konsumtion. För att klargöra vad som ligger bakom konsumentens val av varor intervjuades fyra informanter, två som till vardags handlar ekologiskt och två som handlar konventionellt.  Det finns många anledningar till varför inte konsumenter väljer att handla ekologiskt. När konsumenten står för ett val av vara så är det flera kriterier som spelar in så som kvalitet, hälsa, pris och etiska aspekter. Förutom dessa kriterier så handlar konsumenten utefter vana, kunskap och grupptillhörighet.

The aim of this study is to examine if library and archive will meet professionally in digitization projects. The study has been conducted as a discourse analysis in accordance with the methods of Norman Fairclough, professor of Linguistics at Lancaster University. The texts are seen as linguistic and semiotic elements of social events that can be analyzed as parts of the social process ? discourse. The relationship between events and structures in society will be part of the social practice.The basic data derive from five public documents collected from Swedish government agencies.

Företags sociala samhällsansvar ur ett folkhälsoperspektiv : Hur kan ett företag arbeta med detta i sin marknadsföring?

I den här uppsatsen har en fallstudie genomförts i syfte att ta reda på hur ett företag iservicehandeln med hjälp av utvalda marknadsföringsstrategier kan påverka konsumenter tillatt välja ett mer hälsosamt alternativ vid inköp av livsmedel, samt om detta är något somefterfrågas av kunderna själva. De teorier som ligger till grund för arbetet är teorier omföretags frivilliga samhällsansvar, även kallad Corporate Social Responsibility, butikenspåverkan på ett köp samt kunders köpbeteende och impulsköp. Syftets företagsperspektiv harundersökts genom två intervjuer med en franchisetagare hos Reitan Convenience Sweden ABoch genom en intervju med verkställande direktör för branschorganisationen SvenskServicehandel & Fast Food. Data från kundperspektivet har samlats in genom enkäter ochintervjuer med ett urval av butikens kunder. För att skapa en helhetsbild av de bådaperspektiven har även en observationsstudie genomförts.
