ABSTRACTIn this study I have analyzed, throughout a gender perspective, two textbooks Den levandelitteraturen and Upplev litteraturen which are purposed to be used as teaching materials inSwedish schools in the subject of Swedish when teaching the history of literature. The intentof this study was to provide a gender analysis of two textbooks and the focus was on thepresentations of female and male writers, because they have not been studied earlier. In thisstudy, a qualitative text analytic method was used to achieve the best results as possible.Theories used in this study were Yvonne Hirdman?s and Raewyn Connell?s theories. Hirdmanclaims that there are differences between men and women at different levels in the societywhile Connell believes that this is a myth because, according to her, men and women arepsychologically alike.

The purpose of this study was to examine if there was a relation between birth order, gender and locus of control. There where 162 participants in the study, 44 men, 115 women. Birth order was coded into three levels. There where no significant differences between birth order and locus of control. The result showed that female participants where more external when it came to locus of control.

The main aim of this study is to examine the political debate in Sweden around a potentionalcriminalization of buying sex abroad. A second additional aim is to analyze the debate from anintersectional feminist gender perspective, by bringing attention to ideas about gender, ethnicity andpower expressed in the empirical material.The questions at issue are:What are the arguments for and against the potentional criminalization of buying sex abroad andwhich central discursive battles can be discerned throughout the debate?What impact do ideas about gender and power have on the construction of a general advocatediscourse versus a general antagonist discourse?The methodological point of departure is Critical Discourse Analysis, drawing on the theories ofNorman Fairclough, Ernesto Laclau and Chantal Mouffe. The empirical material consists of 27articles and editorials publicized in Swedish newspapers between January 2011 and November2014.The result shows that the polemics manifested in the debate are based on different ideas aboutgender, ethnicity and power. A crucial discursive battle stands between human rights andinternational law as a superior principle.

This comparative study deals with male and female subjects during their visit to Stockholm. The aim was to find out if there were any general differences in travel motives between the sexes. Travel motive and motivation in tourism is a topic that has long been studied. With the help of various motivation theories and theories about how motives for travelling are created, we conducted a survey of tourists in Stockholm and then compared their travel motives. The results gave similar answers to what we had expected regarding gender differences.

In this study I will analyze how men who buy sex interact with one another on two different Internet communities: ?Sekreterarakademin? and ?Flashback?. This analysis is carried out in an attempt to challenge the conventional image of the man who pays for sex.The aim is to examine the role of Internet forums for men who buy sexual services related to cross-border, both in terms of standard borders, gender boundaries, boundaries of sexuality and masculinity. I will also attempt to investigate what opportunities that are available to overrun different borders and how these opportunities affect the conditions of the various players. I will evaluate theories such as homosocialtet, hegemonic masculinity and normalization used by KAST (Köpare Av Sexuella Tjänster, the Swedish public support for clients of sexual services) and which are partially consolidated in studies published by KAST concerning issues related to internet based prostitution..

Denna studie syftar till att undersöka representationen av maskulinitet och femininitet med utgångspunkt i huvudkaraktärerna i filmserierna Underworld och Twilight som båda har ett vampyrtema, där representationerna i respektive serie sedermera jämförs med varandra. Undersökningen ämnar även undersöka om denna representation förändras genom det narrativa förloppet i vardera filmserie och i så fall hur förändringen yttrar sig.Genom ett utarbetat observationsschema där binära oppositioner och huvudkaraktärer i interaktioner står i fokus tas specifika scener ut och analyseras med hjälp av genusteorier och litteratur kring vampyrgestalten, varulven och hur manliga respektive kvinnliga karaktärer tidigare representerats inom filmmediet. Interaktioner och scener ligger till grund för karaktärsanalysen.Resultaten av denna studie visar att representationerna av karaktärerna innehåller drag från tidigare ideal där dessa befinner sig i olika maktpositioner gentemot varandra. De kvinnliga karaktärernas representation ter sig i jämförelse med varandra olika i aktivitet och makt men tillhör till en början samma stereotyp. Även de manliga karaktärerna skiljer sig åt i representationen genom fysiska yttringar, handlingar och även i sina maktpositioner.  Genusyttringarna i Underworld-serien visar en stark kvinnlig och passiv manlig karaktär medan motsatsen kan urskiljas i Twilight-serien. .

This thesis takes as its point of departure the Swedish governmental family policy and the debate on the proposed reform ?vårdnadsbidraget?. The supporters of the reform present it as something that will increase the freedom of choice for families and benefit the children, whereas the opponents warn for decreased equality and a return to the male breadwinner-model.From a constructivist perspective, language is closely related to power through defining and ascribing meaning to reality. By applying a feminist political theory on the debate within the Swedish national parliament 2007/2008 and conducting a discourse analysis, the aim of this paper is to analyse which concepts are used and how they construct to what makes a family within the political debate ? is there any difference or similarity between the view of the opponents and the supporters of ?vårdnadsbidraget??The main conclusion of this paper is that even though the political ideal and rhetorical concepts differ between the supporters and the opponents, they still constitute the heterosexual nuclear family as an obvious norm in family politics.

The aim of this thesis is to make a comparison between solitary graves and graves in grave fields from the Roman Iron Age on Gotland, Sweden. Differences in burial customs, morphology, dating, gender, age, grave-goods and social status are compared between 19 solitary graves and graves in three different grave fields in different parts of Gotland. An attempt is made to explain these differences and to discuss which functions the solitary graves had. Discussions about whether it is possible to distinguish social status and gender with the help of grave-goods are also made in connection to the determination of status and sex..

Jag har i min undersökning valt att gå in på djupet på tre konstnärer som verkar inom den dig-itala fotokonsten och som dels strävar efter att förmedla den problematik som ligger i det egna mediets förmåga att representera "verkligheten".Diskussionerna i början av min uppsats kommer bland annat behandla det förtroende man har haft och fortfarande delvis har kvar till fototekniken. Uppfattningen om att man med hjälp av denna lilla geniala fotografiapparatur skall kunna fånga "verkligheten" precis som den är, eftersom den till synes ser ut att göra det. Men istället handlar det mer om konstruktion av "verkligheten", baserad på fotografen själv eller den teknik han/hon har tillgång till.De tre konstnärerna jag har valt at utgå ifrån anser att det inte är möjligt att ge en hel och allmän bild av "verkligheten", utan snarare bara delar eller fragment ur denna.I min egen gestaltning har jag sedan utgått från konstnärernas filosofier för att kunna hitta mitt eget sätt att förmedla problematiken i mediet som representation av "verkligheten". Genom ett flertal fotografier som jag arbetade ihop i dataprogrammet Photoshop har jag sedan skapat min egen konstruktion av "verkligheten". Jag valde miljön skogen, och försökte återskapa den så som jag länge fått den konstruerad inom mig genom alla bilder som samlats med åren från exempelvis tidningar, television, eller konstutställningar.Undersökningens syfte är att hitta en metod som man kan låta eleverna ta efter där de får en möjlighet att pröva på hur det kan vara att göra sin egen konstruktion/representation av "verk-ligheten".Samtidigt som de undersöker hur andra konstnärer jobbar med detta och sedan att de själva får pröva (learning by doing), har de en möjlighet att få merförståelse för hur "verkligheten" kan konstrueras.

Background: According to us, obtaining reimbursement of expenses in connection with a representation is a ?forgotten? process, and we therefore find it interesting to look further into. Alcohol and drug abuse is something that undoubtedly exists in our society today. Our interest in this area was inspired by an earlier study of the influence of socialization on these dependencies. From this we developed new hypotheses concerning men and women?s drug and alcohol abuse. The main purpose of this study was to highlight the experiences and reflections of six women and seven men on their own alcohol or drug abuse.

Detta examensarbete behandlar ämnet genus med fokus på en grupp femåriga barns tankar om leksaker och kön. Syftet utgörs av att undersöka om en grupp pojkar och flickor vid femårsålder tänker könsstereotypt om leksaker. Samt om dessa eventuella könsstereotypa tankar kan kopplas till föräldrarnas utbildningsnivå. För att söka svar på detta genomfördes en bildundersökning med 11 barn på en centralt belägen förskola i en medelstor svensk stad, de medverkande barnens föräldrar besvarade en enkät rörande barnens bakgrund så som syskon, leksaker och kamrater. Resultatet visade att yttre påverkan i form av föräldrars utbildningsnivå tycks ha ingen eller liten betydelse för barnens könsstereotypa tankar.

This study in Public Administration uses feminism and historical institutionalism toanalyze a highly debated contemporary policy problem that concerns genderequality in the policy of parental leave. The parental insurance was introduced in1974 with the governmental goal of gender equality. In 1974 only 0,5 percent of thenumber of days of parental benefit was paid to men. Today, 40 years later, the goalremains the same and the numbers of days of parental benefit paid to men are 24,8percent.The debate that has characterized the Swedish policy of parental insurance andspecifically the design of the parental benefit is the debate of freedom of choiceversus quota.Our study focuses on ideas and arguments that influence the policy of parentalbenefit. The study assumes, with basis in the theories of feminism and historicalinstitutionalism, that a policy like parental benefit is slow-moving and that pathdependency has lead to a slow development of gender equality..
