Arbetets syfte är att undersöka och diskutera om fysisk utformning kan bidra till eller förebygga segregation, samt att jämföra olika principer för att minska rumslig uppdelning och ge ökade möjligheter till social interaktion. Fokus är hur stadens struktur och utformning bidrar till, eller försvårar, att människor befinner sig på samma offentliga platser samtidigt, vilket skapar möjlighet att se och blir sedd av andra människor. Att se och bli sedd av andra människor är något som flera forskare lyfter som viktigt för att bli ömsesidigt medvetna om varandras existens, och minska uppdelning i ?vi? och ?dem?. I arbetet undersöks Nedre Norrby i Borås med hjälp av space syntaxverktyg och Gehls kvalitetskriterier. Det visar på vilka sätt platsen kan ses som en barriär, och undersöker hur fysiska förändringar skulle kunna förändra det.

During the last decades the housing sector has increased continuously, and housings and services accounted for 40 % of the energy usage in Sweden during 2011. The expansion in number of buildings in society has resulted in an increase in both energy usage and emissions of greenhouse gases. It is crucial to enable a sustainable development of society and as a result, the demand to reduce the emissions of carbon dioxide is a current question. In this study, the carbon dioxide emitted from the housing sector in Stockholm is estimated. The housing sector can be divided into different types of houses such as apartment blocks, single-family houses and holiday houses. By collecting information of the energy purchased in respective households, a computational model is generated that calculates the total emission of carbon dioxide.

Idag finns flertalet brister kring Östra sjukhusets fysiska planering som behöver ses över, dessa är bland annat trafikflöden, säkerhetsaspekter och parkeringsmöjligheter.Rapporten redogör för förändringar i den fysiska planeringen som förbättrar dess utformning. Genom studier av relevant litteratur och diskussioner med expertis har förslag av problemområden tagits fram. Dessa har sedan bedömts efter listor av deras respektive för- och nackdelar som kunnat urskiljas.Arbetet visar framtagandet av ett väl fungerande förslag som kan verka som en bas för idéer till nutida och framtida förändringar kring den fysiska planeringen.

Every plan and program decided on by an authority or municipality, where the environmental impact can be considerable, must be environmentally assessed according to Environmental Code, the Planning and Building Act (PBA) and the Regulation on Environmental Impact Assessment.The purpose of this study is to examine the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for The Region Development Plan for the Stockholm Region, RUFS 2010. The plan was approved by at that time the Regional Planning Office (Regionplanekontoret), which procured the process by consultants. RUFS 2010 includes two merged plans ie. a regional Development Plan (RUP) and the Regional Spatial Plan for Stockholm. It was necessary to establish an environmental assessment of RUP, but not for the regional plan.

The aim of this Masters thesis is to deepen the understanding of how society affects literary criticism by studying the reception of two Swedish dystopian novels and their contemporary anchorage. The questions that we answer here are concerned with how critics have drawn parallels between the novels and events occurring in the contemporary society, and how the critics outlook on the future are connected to ideas about the future in the novels. The first novel, Kallocain 1940 by Karin Boye has been interpreted as a critical statement directed towards totalitarian ideologies. The second novel, After the Flood 1982 by P C Jersild, has been seen as a warning against nuclear warfare. This qualitative study is based on 41 reviews from Swedish daily press.

The aim of this master?s thesis is to examine the discourses aboutthe future of Malmö City Library expressed by the chief librariansSven Nilsson and Elsebeth Tank. Furthermore, our intention is tostudy the relation between the two. The questions posed in thestudy are: how does chief librarian Sven Nilsson express the futureof Malmö public library between 1989-1997? How does chieflibrarian Elsebeth Tank express the future of Malmö City Librarybetween 2008-2010? How does Sven Nilsson?s and ElsebethTank?s thoughts and visions of the future correlate?Our theoretical and methodical building ground is in the discourseanalytical field, with Ernesto Laclau?s and Chantal Mouffe?stheories about discourse and society, as startingpoint.

This is an essay concerning the density of the city. An increasing amount of today?s cities have a shortage of space available for the erection of new buildings and settlements, especially in areas close to the city-centre. New buildings and settlements are therefore often found in the outskirts of the city, resulting in long distances between work and living for many people. These long distances are a waste of limited resources and are inconsistent with the vision of the sustainable city.The challenge for the future is to insert new buildings and settlements in the existing city-structure and in this way reduce the distances between different city-functions.The density of the city can be increased in two different ways; by inserting new buildings between existing ones or by extension existing buildings, for example by an additional floor.

En god och fungerande stadsdel utanför stadskärnan kräver omsorgsfull utformning. I stadens utkant finns inte samma underlag för urbant liv och därför ställs höga krav på planeringen. En ny stadsdel måste möta sin omgivning och ses utifrån staden som helhet. I mitt arbete har jag lyft fram vikten av att förhålla sig till omgivande områden, landskapet samt stadskärnan och ta till vara på deras kvalitéer. Det nya området måste också tillföra den befintliga omgivningen kvalitéer.

This thesis describes redesign and adaption of a products housing. In order to make it more economical to produce at a lower production volume. The thesis is based upon a prototype that a previous student developed for injection moulding. The goal is to find alternative manufacturing methods, but also to identify parameters that affect the cost of the injection moulding tool.The housing must be tough in order to protect the circuit board inside. But at the same time it must allow sound, light an electrical communication to pass through.

Östersjöregionen är en av Europas snabbast växande regioner och Blekinge har ett strategiskt läge mitt i denna expansiva region. Studien behandlar Sydöstra Östersjöregionens utveckling och belyser de tre INTERREG-projekten Seagull, SEB Trans-Link och Baltic Gateway ur ett robusthetsperspektiv. En robusthetsanalys med hänsyn till tekniska, ekologiska och sociala aspekter görs med utgångspunkt från identifierade regionala riskfaktorer samt de effekter INTERREG-projekten förväntas få på Blekinge. Resultaten från analysen jämförs sedan med Blekingestrategin och slutligen presenteras föreslagna prioriteringar för att uppnå ett robustare Blekinge..

ABSTRACTA Qualitative Discursive Analysis of Eight Contemporary Geography BooksTeacher Training with an Intercultural Profile 2006Author: Susanne LjunglöfTutor: Jan-Eric MattsonThe aim of this paper is to describe which discourses concerning the different continents problems, future and development that I can find in the descriptions of the continents in a number of contemporary geography books.The aim has been divided in four questions:- Which aspects of the continents problems are expressed in these geography books?- Which impressions concerning the continents development and future are expressed in these geography books?- Which conceptions about the population in the different continents are expressed in these geography books?- Which cultural reference creates these discourses?The method used for conducting this study is a text analytical method called general discourse analysis.My conclusions:- The different continents problems, development and future are described through entirely diverse discourses.- The reviewed geography books take their origin i a western perspective in their description of the different continents.- As a reader it is always important to be aware of the ethnocentric perspective that could be expressed.

Ett övergripande mål med ämnesvalet till denna uppsats var att belysa det ibland förbisedda men nära förhållandet mellan den byggda miljön och trafikplanering. För att synliggöra denna relation valdes ett socialt perspektiv med utgångspunkt i statistik över var människor väljer att bosätta sig. Syftet var sedan att undersöka sambandet mellan populära boendemiljöer och utformningen av deras trafiksystem. Utifrån mycket skiftande popularitet mellan olika stadsdelar i Göteborg identifierades 20-talsstadsdelen Kungsladugård som ett specialfall och två relevanta referensobjekt, Brämaregården och Högsbohöjd, valdes för att pröva trafiksystemens inverkan på dessa boendemiljöers popularitet. Studiens frågeställningar är: Finns det ett samband mellan boendemiljöers popularitet och: dess trafiksystem och parkeringslösningar? dess omgivande trafikstruktur med olika grad av barriärverkan? Brämaregården valdes för att i första hand pröva den andra frågeställningen då stadsdelen ligger utmed en tungt trafikerad motorled och godsjärnvägsspår men i övrigt har många likheter med populära Kungsladugård.

The essay is written at the request of Nyköping municipality park management by PatRadestedt who wanted a design proposal for one of the five courtyards at the Tessin Schoolin Nyköping. The Tessin School is located 2 miles from the center of Nyköping and the schoolhouses approximately 900 students. To make a design proposal for the courtyard that lies atthe canteen I decided from the outset that I wanted to take some of the Tessin SchoolStudents' opinions and wishes regarding their own outdoor spaces. I had a workshop witheight students from the arts program with the image orientation in which they had to drawand tell them what they wanted to do in the courtyard. The outcome of the workshop, Iused to move forward in my future work with a concept that fit into the environment, wethen apply it in my final design proposal.
