Slovenia and Latvia are two examples of countries which have gone through a successful democratic transition. They were both under authoritarian rule and command economy up until their declarations of independence in the early 90s. Today they have a functional market economy and political pluralism. I have examined transition theories highlighted by Jonas Linde and Joakim Ekman and from these theories sought the explanations to what lies behind the successful transitions of these two countries. The transition in Slovenia was affected by liberalization from within the ruling communist party which then controlled much of the transition process. A relatively large civil society and the fact that Slovenia was not involved in the Balkan War also contributed to the short process.

Samhället blir mer och mer globaliserat. Som studie- och yrkesvägledare kommer man varje dag i kontakt med människor med olika bakgrunder. I vårt examensarbete var vårt syfte att få ökad kunskap om vad individer med utländsk bakgrund har för upplevelse av studie- och yrkesvägledning på vuxenutbildningen. Det centrala i vårt arbete var att få ta del av respondenternas upplevelser för att vi och även andra skulle få ökad kunskap om hur studie- och vägledning kan upplevas då man inte är född och uppvuxen i ett svenskt skolsystem. Detta har vi gjort med hjälp av en kvalitativ metod.

Strengths were an educational tone and an insightful review of the newest findings in the scientific community. Weaknesses were poor transparency and a tendency to neglect full disclosure of the scientific findings and sources. Focus was also show to be on research and not on information for potential patients.

The purpose of this master thesis is to examine how Dublin Core corresponds to the findings in the IFLA report Functional requirements for bibliographic records FRBR, and what consequences this correspondence has on the usability of Dublin Core as a bibliographic standard. While the study describes the conceptual model of FRBR and the entities work, expression, manifestation and item, its main focus is the mapping of attributes and relationships to the user tasks defined, namely to find, identify, select and obtain entities. The study makes a comparison between data that FRBR rates as highly important for any user task, and the elements defined in DCMI Metadata Terms. The outcome of the comparison is then analyzed as to how it affects Dublin Core's possibilities to assist in the different user tasks, and common problems are discussed. The results show that problems in expressing attributes and relationships through Dublin Core elements concern all of the four user tasks.

This is a study of the letters from His Majesty the King to the county governor of Gotland in 1735. In the Age of Liberty the king had limited power. Royal decisions were made with the Council of the Realm where the King only had the advantage of having two votes and a casting vote. Furthermore, the Council had to act according to the decisions of the Estates of Parliament, if at least three of the four Estates were in agreement. The duties of the county governor were set out in a detailed instruction of which the most recent version was issued in 1734.

The research objective of this thesis was to conduct a holistic evaluation of an operational information system. By holistic evaluation we mean that an equal focus was placed on both the system system perspective and its users user perspective, in the actual environment where the system and its users function contextuality. In addition, the methodological objective of the study was to test a new research approach in a real life setting. The participants of the study were twenty newspaper journalists employed at Göteborgs-Posten GP. The information system NewsLink is a manually indexed full-text database containing all articles published in GP since 1994.

Injuries of the superficial digital flexor tendon are common in racehorses with many reports on different treatment regimes. However there are few studies in riding horses. The purpose of this study was to document the result of conservative treatment of injuries on the superficial digital flexor tendon in riding horses and to find factors that may be important to the outcome. Hospital records from 1999 to 2003 of 17 non-racehorses at ATGs Animal Hospital in Skara with the diagnosis tendonitis of the superficial digital flexor tendon were reviewed. Follow-up information on treatment, convalescence and final outcome was collected.

Ett av målen i LSS är att skapa full delaktighet för de personer som omfattas av denna. För personer med utvecklingsstörning som funktionsnedsättning kan förmågan till kommunikation vara nedsatt. Det kan innebära svårigheter att uttrycka sin vilja och att göra sig förstådd. Individen kan bli beroende av omgivningens förmåga att tyda signaler och tolka kroppsspråk. Det innebär att personal där personer med kommunikationsnedsättning vistas blir ett slags filter ur vilken graden av delaktighet blir möjlig.

Detta examensarbete går ut på att ta fram en ergonomisk arbetsmöbel som tillåter de fyra sittställningarna skräddare, knäsittande, nigställning och viloställning. Projektet är baserat på ett tidigare uppdrag från kursen KPP103, Industridesign II, där uppgiften var att utveckla en sittmöbel med tillhörande arbetsbord. Sittmöbeln utvecklades åt naprapaten Krister Lienius som menar att dessa sittställningar är bra för en stark och välmående kropp för att kunna undvika skador i rygg och leder.Detta examensarbete bygger också på Krister Lienius tanke om de fyra sittställningarna men fokus har endast lagts på arbetsbordet då det är grundläggande för att man ska kunna sitta i dessa ställningar och arbeta. Uppgiften har blivit att utveckla ett portabelt arbetsbord som går att höjd- och vinkeljustera. Att det är portabelt medför att man kan sitta i de fyra sittställningarna var man vill och inte är låst till en särskild sittmöbel.Utvecklingsarbetet har baserats på studier i ergonomi, mätningar på olika människor samt enkätundersökningar.

Skadeståndsrätten är en viktig del av det juridiska systemet och berör rätten till ersättning för skador som orsakats av någon annan och regleras i Skadeståndslagen (1972: 207). Lagen har såväl en preventiv som en reparativ rättsverkan. Den preventiva funktionen består i att förhindra de skador som ger upphov till skadeståndsskyldighet. Det reparativa syftet uppnås genom att skadevållaren måste ersätta den uppkomna skadan.Jag har valt att redogöra för personskador, med inriktning mot ideella skador. Den som har blivit drabbad av en personskada, kan rikta anspråk mot den som har vållat skadan, under förutsättningen att denne varit oaktsam eller vårdslös.

Background:A trauma is a potential life threatening state which demands special resources and optimal care. Trauma doesn't just mean physical violence against the body, it can also put the patient in a psychological crisis. The trauma care in the emergency department is a short and intensive assessment between the patient and the emergency staff, where there is a risk that the patient may feel exposed and uncomfortable. For the nurse to be able to provide security and meet the patients' needs of well-being during the trauma care, the nurse has to try to understand the patients' needs and experiences. Aim: The aim of this study was to illuminate the patient's experiences during trauma care in the emergency department.

Syftet med studien var att undersöka behovet av stöd hos högstadieelever med hörselnedsättning som går integrerat i den ordinarie grundskolan. Jag har använt mig utav en kvantitativ enkätmetod samt en kvalitativ intervjumetod, där jag har genomfört tre telefonintervjuer innan utformningen av enkäten påbörjades. Resultatet av studien grundar sig på 18 enkätsvar, av 54 utskickade, samt tre telefonintervjuer med personer som har en hörselnedsättning och tidigare har gått integrerat i den ordinarie grundskolan. Resultatet visar att eleverna har ansträngande skoldagar till följd av att det krävs full koncentration för att höra vad klasskamraterna säger. För att de ska ha en chans att följa med i samtalen i klassrummen krävs en bra ljudmiljö, det är fyra elever som har uppgett att de inte kan följa med i samtalen.

Uppsatsens fokus ligger på att undersöka hur förutsättningarna ser ut för att etablera Gated Communities i det svenska samhället. Ett Gated Community är ett inhägnat bostadsområde där traditionellt offentliga rum privatiseras och allmänhetens tillträde begränsas. Sedan 1980-talet har antalet Gated Communities världen över ökat explosionsartat. Koncentrationen är framförallt hög i USA, Latinamerika och Sydafrika men förekommer i de flesta städer i världen idag.För att söka reda på förutsättningarna för att etablera bostadsformen i det svenska samhället studeras först fyra för denna uppsats konstruerade arketyper ur det svenska samhället där exempelområden granskas utifrån estetiska, juridiska och sociala egenskaper. Uppsatsen är uppbyggd kring en forskningsdesign med två fallstudier.

The aim of this thesis is to investigate how students in higher education use talking books. This has been inves-tigated through qualitative interviews with nine students. The intention has been to find out how they use talk-ing books and why they have chosen to do it in the way they have, looking specifically on whether there are strategies shared by most of the interviewees.As a theoretical basis of the thesis I have chosen a study, described by Sigrid Hongset, where dyslectic pu-pils tried using printed text and text on tape, as well as both simultaneously. George Kingsley Zipfs ?Principle of least effort? will act as a supplemental theory.The interviews show that the students use talking books in different ways.
