The main purpose of this paper has been to use narratological theory for uncovering the narrative structure in Freud?s cases, such as anachronisms and focalizing. My aim was to investigate the narrative and through these viewpoints discover what impact Freud?s writing?s had on the look of hysterical women. I choose one of the earliest cases,"Fräulein Elisabeth von R." which is published inStudien über Hysterie (I?ve used the text translated to Swedish and published in Tidiga skrifter och historik.

Syftet med denna uppsats är att belysa och jämföra det utsatta barnets öde såsom det speglas i myten och dramat om Oidipus och i Freuds teori om oidipuskomplexet. Myten och senare Sofokles drama handlar om ett barn som av sina föräldrar sätts ut i skogen för att dö med genomborrade hälar, men blir funnet och räddat till livet. Som vuxen kommer Oidipus långt senare att ovetandes döda sin far och gifta sig med sin mor. Freud såg häri ett mönster som han menar går igen i varje pojkes psykosexuella utveckling ? ett sexuellt begär i förhållande till modern och hatiska känslor i förhållande till fadern/rivalen.

This essay attempts to examine whether it is possible to find a mutual understanding of the concept of drive between Spinoza?s philosophy and Freud?s psychoanalytical theory. Former texts on this subject have given a variety of conclusions: from a radical separation between the two authors to a complete identification between the two. The drive, or the desire which is the term Spinoza uses, has in Spinoza?s philosophy its foundation in the concept of conatus.

Carl Gustav Jung started to write his Black books, in which he saw himself analyzing unconscious fantasies, during the same time that he leaved the psychoanalytical movement and broke off his personal relations with Sigmund Freud. This thesis sees the interpretation of these books through a wider contextualization. The purpose is to contribute to the understanding of the breakup between the two. The therapeutic work will be highlighted where the black books will be seen through the lens of three of Jung?s more known patients as well as through the interest in mythology and fantasy that Jung showed during this time.

Syftet med föreliggande studie är att utifrån ett individperspektiv erhålla djupare förståelse och ökad insikt inom ramen för mäns identitetskapande på en kvinnodominerad arbetsplats. Studien utgick från en kvalitativ metod med en tematisk, semistrukturerad intervjuguide. Urvalet utgjordes av fyra män som jobbar på ett sjukhus i Halmstad. Resultatet visar att männens identitet är flyktig och att den är situationsbunden. Resultatet påvisar även hur en identitet är bunden till olika slags sociala relationer.Resultatet analyseras utifrån George Herbert Mead, Sigmund Freud, Erwig Goffman, William James samt Gregory Stone.

Huruvida kusliga fenomen, som psykoanalytikern Sigmund Freud beskrivit, kan användas för att förmedla kuslighet i realistiskt renderade 3D-modellerade miljöer, skapade till ett fiktivt dataspel, är vad som undersökts i detta arbete. Freuds teorier har redogjorts för och även kortfattat jämförts med relaterade ämnen. Två bildserier, den ena tänkt att vara hemtrevlig och den andra innehållande utvalda kusliga fenomen tänkta att förmedla kuslighet, renderades av ett 3D-modellerat vardagsrum. Dessa bilder användes sedan i en kvantitativ enkätundersökning som besvarades av 100 personer. Resultatet av undersökningen visade att de utvalda fenomenen lyckats förmedla kuslighet till respondenterna.

The purpose of this study is to show what melancholy and irony in my poems express and what techniques that are used to accomplish these effects. Many theorists, among them Sigmund Freud and Julia Kristeva, characterize melancholy as an experience of loss, and therefore one of my questions is what kind of losses appear in my poetry. In search for an answer I analyze the texts from both a psychoanalytic and a sociological point of view. In the latter perspective I discuss the postmodern society using concepts from contemporary thinkers like Zygmunt Bauman, Fredric Jameson and Jean Baudrillard. Finally, I also examine if melancholy has an influence on the form of the poems.

There are differences today amongst psychoanalysts regarding if psychoanalysis should limit itself to being exclusively a hermeneutic discipline or if psychoanalysis should find points of contact with neurobiology. The purpose of this essay is to touch upon the larger issue that creates the different points of view: Can psychoanalysis become enriched by finding points of contact with neurobiology, and should psychoanalysis be regarded as belonging to a broader scientific field than being exclusively a human science? The question at issue is: Can modern neurobiology contribute to a development of the psychoanalytic concepts; compulsion to repeat, transference/countertransference and talking cure? The method used is a literature study. The result shows that: Freud?s theories regarding traumatic compulsion to repeat can be linked with LeDoux?s theory of "emotional memory".

This essay examines the role of repetition in the two novels Älskaren (The Lover) by Marguerite Duras and Den amerikanska flickan (The American Girl) by Monika Fagerholm, through a thematic and comparative reading. The study mainly uses Bruce F. Kawin?s analysis of repetition in literature and language as well as it refers to Cathy Jellenik and her analysis of rewriting in the works of Duras. The study also takes into Julia Kristeva?s idea of Duras as a writer lacking of catharsis.

Uppsatsen undersöker hur Olofs inre utveckling i Romanen om Olof från 1934-1937 av Eyvind Johnson kan läsas med hjälp av sagorna. I uppsatsens första del ges en beskrivning av syfte och frågeställning, metod och en översikt av tidigare tolkningar av sagorna i Romanen om Olof. Metoden utgår ifrån Jungs arketyp- och individuationsbegrepp. I uppsatsens andra del görs en tolkning utav sagorna med hjälp av Jungs arketyper, vilka sedan sätts i samband med Olofs individuationsprocess. .

Based on hermeneutic tradition, the goal of this thesis is to further my understanding of what the concept of resistance means in a psychoanalytical context today, primarily within clinical practice. My methodology has been to seek an understanding of the concept of resistance by reading excerpts from the original texts of Sigmund Freud, as well as conducting interviews with practicing psychoanalysts that focus on how they relate to the notion of resistance. The idea was to then present my understanding of these sources in relation to one another. The results suggest that an understanding of the concept of resistance in a clinical context is highlighted by a dichotomy between theory and practice..
