Skötsel av ekholmar och eftersatta ekbestånd på låga boniteter : en fallstudie
This case study is made on assignment of Södra, region Öst, as a part of a campaign
promoting more active management of the oak forests in the region.
Hardwood trees of good quality, especially oak, has a high value due to that the sawn
material is highly estimated by the market. It is important that the Swedish oak forests
are managed in a proper way in order to meet the future demand. Södra has therefore
decided to increase the focus on oak in the Kalmar region and they would like to find
out if continues cover forestry (CCF) under certain conditions can be an appropriate
management model. The motive is to make use of the existing oak forests more
efficient, not just considering well managed forests but also the more neglected oak
forests, on poorer soils. Thus, the objective for this study is to examine if CCF is
appropriate method in the three stand types; broadleaved mixtures oak forest, oak islet,
and oak/spruce forest.
Existing management models were surveyed in the literature.
Sällskapet örtagårdens vänners trädgård i Vadstena : aktuellt växtinnehåll i historisk belysning och med sikt framåt.
Dead wood is important for many species. The amount of coarse dead wood (diameter >10 cm) is much lower in managed forest than in unmanaged forests. Stumps constitute the largest proportion of the volume of coarse dead wood in managed forests. Since stump harvest for biofuel may increase, the amount of dead wood will decrease even more, which may threaten biodiversity. The first aim of this study was to compare the amounts of fine woody debris (FWD, .
Nyckelbiotoper - urskogsrester eller kulturprodukter? : beståndshistorik i tolv nyckelbiotoper i Lycksele kommun
Since 1993 the Swedish Forestry Administration conducts a nation-wide inventory of wood-land key habitats covering all forest land in Sweden. The inventory aims at mapping and describing habitats where redlisted species occur or can be expected to occur. According to the inventory stand history is crucial to the presence of red-listed species. However, the current knowledge of stand history in woodland key habitats is very limited.
The purpose of this work is to describe stand history in woodland key habitats, i.e. fire history, human activities - mainly cuttings - and structural changes.
Jämförande livscykelinventering
This bachelor?s degree thesis was conducted in mechanical engineering at Halmstad University during spring semester 2010 in close collaboration with the company Gremo AB, located in Ätran, Sweden. Gremo AB produces, developes and sales forest machines in both Sweden and on the international market.Gremo AB belongs to one of the market leaders in forest industry, especially with their forwarder. In order to become a market leader even with their harvester, the company decided to change the harvester to have a swivel and a leveling driver cabin. The aim with this bachelor?s degree thesis was to develop a design concept for the harvester driver cabin, which Gremo AB can apply on the new harvester.
Svenska mjölkbönder, snart ett minne blott? - Markbygdens mjölkbönder i tankar om mjölkproduktionens nuvarande situation och framtidsutsikter
Major changes within the agricultural politics today have forced the dairy production to scaleup, in order to compete on a global market. This has resulted in a reduction in the number ofsmaller dairy farms in Sweden, from about 40000 to just over 4000 over the last 30 years. Thepurpose of this study Svenska mjölkbönder, snart ett minne blott? ? Markbygdensmjölkbönder i tankar om mjölkproduktionens nuvarande situation och framtidsutsikter, is topresent the opinions of dairy farmers in Sweden, regarding the Swedish dairy industry and therelation to their own dairy production. A secondary purpose is to problematize how theconsequences of pastures and cultural landscapes influences human society as dairy farms andgrazing animals are becoming fewer.
Cross-suckling when sows are group housed during lactation : associations with sow productivity and behaviour
Cross-suckling, i.e. when an offspring nurses a female other than their own mother, occurs in pig production systems where sows are group housed during lactation. As production systems where several sows and their litters are housed together during lactation are getting more common, the need of knowledge regarding cross-suckling increases. The overall aims with this thesis was to investigate how sow behaviour and productivity are associated with the occurrence of cross-suckling, and to investigate consistency in sow nursing behaviour related to cross-suckling.
The study included information about the first 4 parities of 40 LxY sows kept in outdoor and indoor production environments. Sows were single housed the first 2 weeks after farrowing and group housed (4 or 5 sows per group) from 2 weeks after farrowing until weaning, 7 weeks after farrowing.
Kvalitetssäkring av Clas Ohlson AB´s grafiska produktionsflöde
The question formulation in the essay brought up whether Clas Ohlson works today with their graphical productionflow and if that way of working leads to a desirable result in press. After a dialogue with Clas Ohlson it emerged thatthey had certain problems with the material that came out of the printing presses. Certain colours were not reproducedaccording to the stated values that had been developed. In March -08 an analysis of the graphical production flowspresent situation were done at Clas Ohlsons in order to find out how they worked with their production of print materials. In the analysis, their way to work with color spaces, displays, ICC-profiles, PDF-exports, pictures and printerswere examined. Occasional interviews were also implemented with responsible personnel about how they worked withdifferent aspects.Deficiencies were found on almost all examined parts in their graphical production flow.
Supermarket Strategies : Kvalitativ studie av Ica Maxi, Coop Forum och Citygross konkurrensstrategier
This thesis investigates if a system for small scale electricity production located in anurban environment can be profitable. The work has been divided up into two parts, one extensive literature study and one case study. The purpose of the literature studywas to investigate the area, resulting in a choice of which technology to be studied indepth in a case study. In the case study a system containing small scale wind turbines and photovoltaicsmounted on Gränby Centrums roof was examined. From data containing wind power, wind direction and total irradiation, possible production from a system weresimulated. Three products of each technology were examined in the simulations. From the simulated production an economic analysis was carried out, this toinvestigate if a system is profitable.
Methane production from dairy cows : relations between enteric production and production from faeces and urine
Methane (CH4) is a greenhouse gas (GHG) that contributes to the global warming. One of the largest sources of methane is livestock, preferably ruminants which alone counted for 30% of the total agricultural anthropogenic methane emissions in the year of 2000. The reason to why ruminants are such large contributors of methane are that the gas is produced in the rumen by enteric formation and leaves the animals by belching, exhaling or by the excreta.Diets high in concentrates can result in a lower emission of methane. Also diets with a high content of starch, such as alfalfa-grass, have a methane-decreasing. It is profitable to reduce enteric methane formation since that form of methane is unavoidably lost.
Outsourcing ? Ett verktyg för resurseffektivitet?
AbstractOutsourcing is a business strategy that has developed over the last 40 years. Outsourcing means to let another company do some activity within the company, for example production. The thesis for this paper is: How is outsourcing used in a manufacturing company today and how is the resource efficiency affected by it? The research is divided into two parts, a theoretical part and an empirical part. The theoretical part consists of a study of literature. The works in this study is books, text books, bachelor thesis paper and scientific articles.
Förändrad markanvändning vid biodrivmedelsproduktion : en empirisk undersökning av svenskproducerade biodrivmedels påverkan på åkermarkens användning
Increasing the use of biofuels is an important part of achieving the EU?s target of 10 percent
renewable energy in the transport sector. However, the competition between biofuels and food
production is an ongoing concern. Also, several studies have indicated a significantly higher
climate impact than was earlier estimated, due to emissions from land use.
In Sweden, both the use and production of biofuels from crops have increased substantially
during the last decade. The purpose of this project is first to present an overview of the Swedish
land use in all sectors.
Produktivitetsförbättringar : - förhöjning av produktiviteten vid mekanisk verkstad genom förkortade transportsträckor och standardiserad bearbetning
The aim of this project has been to raise the production efficiency of Daliff Precision Engineering through reduced transportation time and a more standardized manufacturing process. The problem has upraised because of a big and diversified product flora without any standard products and with just small batches ordered. The report also tries to show the work procedure with general analytical methods and be an example of how a similar problem can be resolved. The transportation time is being proposed to be reduced through a change in the layout of the factory. By moving a few manual machines, dispatch and burring to more efficient locations, the total transportation time will be reduced by 55 %.
Ley management : a means to improve forage quality and production
Higher demands of competitiveness and efficiency have led to increasing sizes of farms, with more land, more capital and more comprehensive logistics. The aim is to gain benefits of scale economies that reduce the production cost per unit. However, a greater extent of the business exposes the farm of increased risk where small deviations rapidly can erase the benefits. A modern dairy farm thus put high demands on the farmer?s ability to coordinate, plan and manage the forage production through the whole process until storage to obtain silage of the desired quality and quantity at the right price.
The objective of this study was to design a simple model, i.e.
Mångbruksplan Äspinge 2:2
This plan of multiple-use is made on the private owned forestproperty Äspinge 2:2 in the middle of Skåne.
The term ?multiple-use? came to Sweden in the beginning of the twentieth century and has slowly grown until about 30 years ago when the laws of nature conservation and sustainability was written into the forest law. The so called ecoturism got more and more popular and people began to seek space and silence in difference to the life in the highly populated areas. This also encouraged foreign tourists to come to Sweden. Mostly danish, german, and dutch people.
New Business Model for District Heating Firms Stabilizing the National Energy System with a Future Variable Electricity Production
The aim of this thesis is to develop a new business model for district heating and cooling firms which can contribute to a stabilization of the Swedish national energy system. The business model is developed for a district heating and cooling firm and is exemplified with Fortum Heat. The theoretical investigation around the topic creates a rigid base for following qualitative empirical studies. Osterwalder?s canvas for business model generation is used together with a Casual Loop Diagram to identify a number of business opportunities which stabilizes the national energy system.
