The northern province of Sweden has in both literature and film been depictured as something foreign and mythical, unlike the rest of the country. It has been my purpose to show in this essay that the systematic categorization of Norrland and its literature reveals multiple criteria known to define the colonial era. By reading the novel Stallo by author Stefan Spjut with postcolonial structures in mind I aim to show how the author uses Swedish mythology and through the presence of The Other criticizes colonial structures in place to this day. By examining the gothic atmosphere I intend to indicate how the trolls in the novel figures as both a horror element as well as a representation of nature itself. It is my belief that the author by further reinforcing the mythological in relation to Norrland addresses the problem at hand.

Sweden is usually seen as a role model when it comes to integration and diversity, but at the top of the pyramid there is little ethnical diversity to be found. This paper investigates how existing economical and sociological theory explain the lack of swedes with foreign background in leading positions in large Swedish companies. Our findings show that none of the theories applied in this paper can explain the phenomenon in isolation. Thus it is not only taken for granted norms, contacts in one's network or cost minimizing under asymmetric information that lie behind the phenomenon, but an interaction of these aspects. Conflicting demands lead the recruiters to separate talk from decision, the search frame is narrow and no or small efforts are made to increase the diversity.

This thesis examines the underlying components that affect consumer behavior regarding organic food. The thesis theoretical framework is based on Ajzen and Fishbein?s The Theory of Reasoned Action combined with theories regarding involvement and routine purchases. The empirical material is based on a desk research with 19 research papers between the years 1994 till 2009 and sales statistics over organic food.  The thesis conclusion shows that the underlying components when looking at attitude towards conventional food are price, taste, expiration-date and healthfulness. While the components for involvement in organic food is the environment, personal health and supply.

I denna uppsats undersöks det svenska språket i öppen kommunikation på Internet för att se om det förekommer ett gemensamt språkbruk för både synkron och asynkron kommunikation, närmare bestämt för chatt respektive diskussionsforum.Bredvid uppsatsens huvudsakliga syfte följer också två frågor:- Skiljer sig det studerade språkbruket åt mellan olika åldersgrupper?- Vilken syn har chatt- och forumdeltagare på sitt eget skrivande i de olika sammanhangen?.

Föreliggande studie är ett försök att få fram relevant information kring realisering av kvantitet i två svenska dialekter. Föremål för undersökningen är eliciterade enstaviga minimala ord från två talare av gotländska samt två talare av skånska. Materialet, som spelats in av dialektprojektet SweDia 2000, ger möjlighet att i flera dialekter studera kvantitetsfenomenet med hjälp av samordnade, jämförbara ordlistor..

Med utgångspunkt för tre forskningsområden: semiotik, pragmatik och kognition, har det gjorts ett försök i att belysa om språket och bilden har skilda roller i den moderna TV-reklamen. Ett noga urval av dagens TV-reklamfilmer användes som underlag för den empiriska undersökningen undersökningen. The thesis work has been carried out at Volvo Aero Corporation (VAC) in Trollhättan. VAC has entered a partnership as developing and producing partner with engine manufacturer Pratt & Whitney and is currently at the starting phase of producing the turbine rear frame (TEC) to the engine PW1000.The purpose of this study was to create a report on process level that describes the conditions and the potential with PW1000 TEC to reach the product cost calculation taking into account lead times and describe alternative method solutions.The report describes a comparison between the present flow (2012), a flow based on product cost calculation (2016) and a potential flow (2016). The work has mainly been based on acquiring the knowledge and information available to inspect the present flow; this has been done by workshop observations, meetings and gathering of the information that is available on the work site for the PW1000 TEC.The information obtained has been merged into an Excel document, called Roadmap. It serves as a roadmap with current situation as the start and the potential flow for 2016 as the goal. With the roadmap as a tool, assumptions have been taken considering the flow and how it will change, where processes have been eliminated, reduced or marked as a problem..

Lagen syftar till att motverka skatteflykt och underlätta för den amerikanska skattemyndigheten IRS att beskatta utländska finansiella tillgångar. FATCA förmår utländska finansiella institut världen över att regelbundet rapportera information till IRS om deras amerikanska kontohavare och ägare. Den globala implementeringen av FATCA har kritiserats av finansinstitut och regeringar runt om i världen eftersom FATCA är en lag med extraterritoriell verkan. An uncountable number of companies are present in foreign markets as a result of what we commonly choose to call globalization. This is especially true for Swedish companies traditionally operating on small markets. Researchers have found that companies that establish on foreign markets will have to deal with competitors on the national as well as on the global market, and therefore need consider how they globalize their brands. Little research has been done within the field of the use of textbooks and teaching aids in Spanish asa foreign language (SFL) teaching in Sweden. This study attempts to find answers to how teachersand teacher students use, view and choose SFL teaching aids. To accomplish this, qualitativeinterviews were carried out with Spanish teachers and Spanish teacher students in a city in northernSweden. A survey was also sent to all current SFL teachers in the central coastal region of Norrland.The study indicates that SFL textbooks are of great importance to the participating teachers andteacher students. Furthermore, a wish to enhance the level of interest of Spanish and Spanish/LatinAmerican culture, provide a varied teaching experience and improve their students? self-esteem arefactors influencing teachers in their use and choices of teaching aids..

The purpose of this master thesis is to, with the strategies of the organization and the preferences of the co-workers in mind, explore how reward systems can be designed in heterogeneous organizations. This is done by interviewing store managers and sales personnel in a heterogeneous organization. The frame of reference deals with theoretical approaches on reward systems and is divided in the following sections, individual or group based, differentiated or not differentiated rewards systems and goals, measurements and rewards. These sections are highlighted from the following aspects, equity, implementation possibilities and finally environment. The theoretical discussion ends in the conclusion that heterogeneous organizations should have several different reward systems, but not if a restructuring process is in progress or the system becomes too costly.
