The purpose of this thesis is to investigate how Digital Signage systems such as public info kiosks can be designed to better fulfill its main use; to enlighten, encourage and influence the public with information. The challenges presented from earlier studies shows that the public interests and goals, together with proper and relevant content displayed in info kiosks have impact on the attention the public have towards public displays. Qualitative methods such as interviews, usability testing and observations were conducted to further examine how a public info kiosk can be designed to draw attention and grow interest amongst students at K3, Malmo University. Usability testing were used on the digital prototypes that were developed to ensure that the gestural user interface meet the requirements of a proper interaction from the users. Important insights were made concerning; the attention and interest to relevant content, the aspects of the gestural user interface along with the placement of the info kiosk in terms of context.

Målet med detta examensarbete har varit att undersöka kunskapsnivån angående vind i bebyggd miljö hos verksamma inom stadsplanering, arkitekter och inom berörda utbildningar samt tillgängligheten på hjälpmedel och information. Vinden påverkas starkt av landskapets utseende. Skog, hav, stad och kuperad terräng har alla olika vindförutsättningar. Inom urban miljö bestäms vindförhållandena av bebyggelseutformningen och byggnadernas omgivning. Historiskt har vindplanering varit en naturlig del av planerandet, inte minst då det gäller jordbruk. Under årens lopp har människor tagit lärdom av tidigare erfarenheter vilket har lett oss fram till dagens kunskapsläge med en rad olika tumregler och hjälpmedel, varav det senaste består i numeriska datorbaserade analysverktyg så som Computational Fluid Dynamics. En god och komfortabel utemiljö utgår ifrån hur vi människor upplever den.

This thesis has identified and studied measures to allow for reduced use of electricity in a waste incineration plant in western Sweden. The energy extracted from the waste at the powerplant is utilized and sold in form of electricity and heat. Technical and environmentally the combined heat and power plant is by today's standards among the leading waste incineration plants in the world. The owners are constantly striving to improve the efficiency of the waste incineration plant. They have seen the opportunities for savings in reducing internal usage of electricity.

Testing and analysis of measurement data is a major part of the workday for development engineers within the section Fluid and Emission Treatment to assure the quality of products developed by Scania CV. The ineluctable variation and therefore uncertainty of results can be quantified and discussed with the use of statistical methods.The overall objective of this study is to examine how the competence of development engineers can be improved within the area of statistics. This has been done by relating the concept of competence with the use of statistical methods to analyse experimental data and by investigating which factors that influence the competence of the engineers. Observations of the daily operations, interviews and a focus group with development engineers and a workshop with management personnel, has been used as research methods in this study.The results show that the desired competence, from the perspective of the individual, consists of knowledge, motivation and support. It is important that none of these parts are neglected when the competence of engineers is to be strengthened.

This report summarize what have been done during the Master of Science Thesis that Klas Schjelderup has written for the company RANOTOR Utvecklings AB. The company is developing modern steam engines and this work should develop a machine to perform tests on a new type of piston seal that hopefully could be used in the future. The steam engines will be both volumetric and energy compact, around 1600hp/literof cylinder volume, and it will have a lot of practical applications.The new type of piston seal is hydrostatic lubricated which means that a fluid is separating two faces that normally is in contact. In this case pressurized water is used to separate the piston seal from the cylinder wall. RANOTOR have earlier formulated that at least the expander in the modern steam engine have to be oil-free, due to other components functionality in the closed water system.

The car industry is facing harder environmental requirements, which influence the brakedevelopment. The focus is to develop brakes with low drag and sustained brake feeling andperformance. Important characters for the brake caliper are high stiffness and low weight, highstiffness results in high performance and low weight is important because it is unsprung mass.This thesis investigates the possibility to improve the performance of the brake caliper for aGMproject.

Horses are made to eat mainly roughage and it is essential for optimal health to offer them an appropriate amount of roughage with good hygienic and nutritional qualities. To produce good hay at the right time and be able to keep the hygienic quality until next summer is a problem. This has the effect that horse owners today choose haylage and silage to a larger extent. Science in this area is scarce, i.e. if the change from hay to silage has any effect on the horse.

Vid torrgranulering av masugnsslagg med roterande disk hälls den smälta varma slaggen i en stråle på den roterande disken. Slaggen slungas sedan radiellt ut åt sidorna från disken och sönderdelas till partiklar. Torrgranuleringen bidrar både till att en värdefull produkt i form av cement kan framställas, samtidigt som energin från den varma slaggen återvinns. I dagsläget finns dock inte tillräcklig kunskap om hur olika processparametrar påverkar sönderdelningen och storleksfördelningen av partiklarna för att kunna tillämpa processen inom industrin. Syftet med projektet var att skapa en experimentell och en numerisk modell av torrgranuleringsprocessen med roterande disk för att undersöka hur olika processparametrar påverkar sönderdelningen och storleksfördelningen på partiklarna, samt att utveckla en bildanalysmetod för att validera den numeriska modellen mot de experimentella resultaten.En experimentell modell av torrgranuleringsprocessen med roterande disk skapades i laboratorieskal och förenklades genom att vatten användes istället för masugnsslagg.

I was assigned to the thesis as part of a project GMA AB (Ground Machinery Applications AB) is running. The project aims to develop a new method for injection of drilled holes in rock walls. Currently, the injections usually involve cement but the basic idea of the project is to replace cement with a supplement called Silica sol.Silica sol is known as a gelling liquid. The gel time is controlled by a mixing of saline. Depending on the amount saline that gets mixed in, the gel time varies.

In this report focus is put on the combustion process at a cement plant. Combustion is the heart of the cement making process and absolutely crucial to have under full control and well optimized. The fuel is put into the process through a burner pipe and this burner pipe is modified to reach a more efficient combustion. The primary target is to enable burning of heterogeneous alternative fuels and increase the production level. Other positive effects from this type of optimization is lowered specific fuel consumption and lowered CO2 emissions. A redundant burner is chosen for the project and overall the project steps are the following: 1. Installing a Jet air nozzle ring in a way so it can move both axially and radially due to temperature changes. 2.

Respiratory disease with airway inflammation as main characteristic is common in the horse. It is a syndrome that is not yet fully understood. The etiology, pathogenesis and classification into different disease states are subjects for discussion and under continuous revision. Despite a number of modern techniques, the diagnostic procedure is challenging. There is no test considered to be gold standard when diagnosing these diseases.
